Hi

Been vaping for 3 and a bit years and have loved every moment of it. A few months back I went to a festival and had a few smokes...unfortunately this then lead to me buying cigs the next day and it was just a downward spiral after this and Ive been smoking again for a few months now...alongside vaping as I love it so much.

I want to stop cigs all together now because I did so well for 3 years! I'm finding that my vape is quite harsh atm, I DIY my juice at 1.5mg-2mg and have even tried a few shop bought 3mg juices but they are all acting the same, harsh hits that sometimes leads me in a coughing state!

I've tried so many different juices so many different builds, rewicks and it's all the same which is really frustrating!!

I'm thinking it must be down to cigs destroying my throat and it's just the case that I need to allow time for my throat to heal from smoking or to adjust to the vape again even tho I've been vaping alongside smoking?

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Cheers

My first thought was the power but I know from personal experience that cigarette smoke has a numbing effect on your throat and when I was attempting to quit while dual using I was also coughing. I also tell this to anyone who is trying to use vaping or e-Cigs to quit that it took me a few weeks after quitting smoking for the throat irritation to go away. Now remember this is just my personal experience.

That is the only way I could make it work for me was to quit cold turkey and suffer through the withdrawals. Dual using did not work at all because one day I realized that I really wasn't cutting down and was just increasing the amount of nicotine I was getting. It wasn't the nicotine though that I was addicted to it was all the other additional chemicals that are added to smokes. Now after over 2 years if I can't vape I just don't and no withdrawals or ill effects.

I did have a cigarette or two after I had quit but I will never forget the time I actually smoked one and after I got inside the smell on my hands and me I just could not get rid of no matter how many times I washed my hands or brushed my teeth that night. Now I will admit that the first light of a cigarette sometime still smells nice but now days when someone walks past me that smell is disgusting to me. When I smoked I never smelled it and I used to smell like that to none smokers. One thing I say I will never be is one of the X smokers who complains about the smell although I will say it to other X smokers!

While you are trying to transition back to vaping you may want to try not to pull the vapor down into your lungs. You will be able to absorb the nic through your mouth and nose so pulling it through your throat isn't necessary. I have been vaping for just over 5 years now after over 45 years of smoking up to 2 packs a day. I do what I call a MTN action (mouth through nose) and it works for me. If you try this method you might be able to gradually get used to the vapor again and will eventually get to where you can vape the way you enjoy it the most.

On my 5th smoke free anniversary I actually bought a pack of my, used to be, favorite smokes. I took one out, smelled it, it smelled really good, lit it, tried to take a drag, oops, I think I forgot how to smoke, tried to hit it like I hit my PV. OMG.....this thing tastes terrible. One hit and I put it out. I gave the rest of the pack away. I proved to myself that I would NEVER go back to smoking no matter what else happens in my future.

I have ran into this exact situation. It was simply getting used to vaping again so i had to alter my inhale til i adjusted back to vaping again.

Yeah smoking that first cig at the festival was dirty but then I had a second one and it tasted normal again.... That's where the problem started haha I think just like the rest of you have said it's just transitioning back to vaping as I'm starting again on a powerful mod instead of an ego type device I just got to get used to it again! Thanks for all the help lads!

Nah man not a lost cause, I will give up smoking again just had a weak moment and fell off the tracks a bit! :D

I've had the same experience recently and it's turning out to be a lot more difficult than quitting by vaping the first time around :-/

That is really interesting because the last stinky I smoked sticks in my mind because I could not get the stink off me. That memory is so vivid it is one reason I will not have one just because I can have just one.

I hope you know what a great post this is as a reinforcement to me (and hopefully others) to never, ever again pick up a cigarette no matter the temptation!

THANK YOU!!!!!

Your post made me think about the times I quit but returned to smoking to smoke more than before and how it only took one to become a smoker again............ Wow, I don't think that would happen now that I vape but you definitely made me think!

Thank you and glad it at least made you think about that. My memory of trying, and failing all other methods of quitting over 20 years ago because of that "one smoke" mentality still lingers. But as it fades with the possibly false sense of having it licked, every reminder of those failed attempts are a welcome reinforcement.
