Have you tried the 4.8v(5v) batt w/ dual coil in RS.

No I haven't got around to buying yet another charger and batteries. I may next month,,, I have already spent my ecig budget (I wish I had a set budget it seems to change whenever I want some new thing) I've sort of settled into really enjoying ego's, All of my mods have been sitting, aside from the occasional 6v dual coil. At six volts the vape starts off too hot but the batteries voltage drops quickly into the perfect temp for me and duals. I am interested in the 5v batt though. we'll see,

Well the reality speaks louder than the numbers... My provari will not run a dual coil over 4.3ish volts. A protection error displays any higher. 4.3v on the provari gives an ok performance with a dual coil... but my roughstack at 6v is where I like duals. The provari will run a dual coil with better performance than a 3.7 imr battery in my roughstack, but I like higher voltage with them and the vari just can't do it. Also, The battery life of provari running dual coils with imr18490 1100mah is very similar to the life I get out of 500mah lifepo 123a's. So it just isn't the device I would want for dual coils. Provari works great for my ce2's and really I only use it for it's ohm meter and when I have a carto that needs a specific voltage. It is a nice device but I ended up using ego's 80% of time and roughstack for duals 15% and 5% provari

Gotcha. I had the Provari in my cart and was about to hit the order button, but this kept bugging me, even before your post. I think I'll just try the vv box from Madvapes for $35, and see how that works out for me. As far as I know, it does not have the amp limit that the Provari does. I've been looking for a TTTeliquids VMU Innovate, but I seem at a loss to find someone who wants to sell one second hand. I hate to pay $90 when you can't return it if you don't like it, and I know Grimm Green had some issues with the one he received, he had to exchange it at least twice.

Ya the provari is a fine device though. It just happens that the computer and regulator are designed to protect it from very high amp draw. The dual coils are the only thing that hasn't worked as well as I wanted on the provari. any other very low resistance atty or carto I wouldn't even want to run at higher voltages. It just so happens that the dual coil is great at high voltage.

The only worry is will the amps kill the regulator in the vv box mod.. There is a reason the provari limits itself. The regulator could burn out. Ideally you would want to use 3.7v IMR batteries or lifepo's stacked for 6v. I haven't tried the 5v batteries yet but those may work as well. If you get the vv box mod I'd get some IMR's for it. Then as long as the regulator can take it you're good to go. Good luck

Depends on the type of regulator too. Some of the switching type have higher current limits than you could ever possibly vape with. Most of the linear type will engage thermal protection and shut down if current demand is too high. You also have to consider how much current your batteries can source. You can easily hit the protection with smaller batteries. The dual coil cartos are similar to powering two atomizers at the same time and have become popular only recently. Most of the production regulated devices are just not designed for that and not all batteries can handle it either.

GLV was my 2nd choice after the roughstack. I just couldn't argue with the price difference. GLV does have a bigger button, which I think is in it's advantage.

Thank you all for the advice. I think I'm going to go with the GLV. I've got some Bloog's that I'm going to post in the classified section this weekend to fund the purchase. I'll post again once I actually have the GLV and let you all know how it's working for me. Thanks again!
