Hello All, new vaper here. I started vaping to try and quit the disgusting habit of smoking cigs. But a few things aren't ideal for me. I bought an eGo CE4 starter kit from a gas station and must say I'm impressed. I have tried several e-cigs like Blu and Vuse, however they never worked due to the way too intense throat hit, but the CE4 is great and works well. The clearomizer died on me for the starter kit and I went to a local vape shop and purchased an iClear 16 and some new e-liquids. Right now I'm vaping Strawberry and Captain Blueberry mixture. Both are 50PG/50VG mix. It's delicious by the way lol, but since I replaced the clearomizer the throat hit is a bit too strong for my liking. How can I reduce the throat hit but still get a good flavor and vapor cloud. Thanks in advance for any advice. By the way I'm using the battery that came with the starter kit. 650mAh CE4 battery.

Hi there. Throat hit depend on two things mainly, the concentration of nicotine you are using and the amount of propylene glycol {PG} in your mix. Well I would suggest

you to buy some Pharmaceutical grade Vegetable Glycerine, I can easily get it from the drug store here in Mauritius for less than two dollar us per 50 ml. Then

proceed and dilute your nicotine solution with that. You can proceed by adding few ml of VG to your existing nicotine solution, shake well and try it in your

cleartomiser , This will decrease your throat hit.

Continue the above till you get the throat hit that you like and Voila. Only downside is that you'll loose some flavor concentration by this dilution but I guess its

worth it if only to keep you away from the "burning stinkies"

Thanks, when I bought my CE4 I bought 2.4% but when I bought the iClear I stepped down to 1.8%. Which I got more throat hit, but also I think it's to do with the dual coil in the iClear vs single coil with the first clearomizer I had. I also get this afterburn feeling in my throat as well which isn't pleasant. It doesn't last long but would like that to be not there.

I don't want to step down to fast. I notice that I use my vaporizer more with the less content. Could stepping up the resistance lower the throat hit? I know the coils in the atty that comes with the iClear is 1.8 or at least that is what I was told. What effect would it have to go to 2.1? Also to me the vapor production isn't much different. Just stronger. What about mixing liquids that have different Nicotine levels?

The "afterburn", if it's anything like the heartburn I experienced at first, will go away.

Our liquid has two big "bases": Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerine (or Glycerol, VG). I'm pretty sure most of the liquid I was buying was around 20PG/80VG. Now I mix my own, at 30PG/70VG. It is definitely much smoother, and friends to whom I've given my liquid agree.

My suggestions would indeed be trying a juice with at least 50%VG, and if that doesn't work, lowering the nicotine level. I was on 36/30/24 mg for a while, so I believe high-nic juices don't have to be harsh, if you've stopped smoking relatively recently.

The dual coils might produce more vapor, and if you find the vapor harsh initially, would be more irritating.

yea you could step the ohms down and that should help some . and if you can find some juice with a different mix like a 60vg/40pg or a 70/30 would cut it down some also.
if you are going to mix different nicotine levels it'll take a little math to figure out the strength your actually using be much easier just to get some vg and use a online ejuice calculator...i've found vg in the vitamin section in wal mart. about 2 bucks for 3 or 4 oz and grab a medicine syringe to measure it out pretty accurately

When you say step down do you mean going to 1.5? and i found an e-juice calculator but i dont know how to use it lol, but i am indeed good at math

The "afterburn" isnt really like heartburn to me its just a burning sensation at the back of my throat, it fades in about 20 seconds or so its bearable just kinda sucks

You can find a nice v1 Vision Spinner 1300mah on eBay for under 13 dollars shipped. Step away from the gas stations and B&B's and this vaping is not that expensive. I simply took one weeks worth of cig money and bought two of that exact battery along with a Protank 3 mini each for the wife and I when we started.

All my gear was/is less bucks than the smokes.

Lot's of good advice so far...more VG, higher ohms.

I would add that top coils like the CE4 and iClear place the coil nearer to your mouth...thus the vapor is warmer or hotter. Bottom coils tend to be cooler and airier (is that a word?). By having a cooler vape and more air mixed in, you may find less harshness. Everyone has their own preference, so you will likely try several devices as you make this journey.

I'd like to emphasize that; the ce4's were popular for awhile; and in my opinion the real difference was the ego thread which had less problems for new vapers than the cigalike sized 510 threads.

But the new popular trend is bottom coil clearos; cooler vape.

It's like a car engine: sure the engine gets hot, but you don't really want that heat on your lips; the bottom coils put the heat further away.

Hi Dark and welcome. Adding a bit of diluted VG to your e-juice is a good idea--just make sure it's USP (pharma grade) and that you dilute it to vaping consistence with distilled water.

And yes, get some BCC clearomizers as soon as you can. A nice Kanger T3S or eVod will be much gentler and easier to use. They are not expensive. Just make sure you get lower resistance (1.5 or 1.8Ω) coils will work very well on your 3.2v battery. Get some extra coils and keep them nice and clean--they can last for weeks if you don't use dark, sweet juices. There are plenty of videos on YouTube showing how to clean Kanger coils.

Good luck!

Good luck!
