I have some MNKE IMR 18650 batteries that I use for my flashlight. Would they be a better match until I get paid?
I'm going to stop in the local vape shop tomorrow and get some better batteries. I've been using the Aspire cf sub ohm with the built in battery, so this is my first time having to deal with removable batteries.The 1500mah mnke imr is a 20a cdr, but 1500mah will have fairly short between recharge life.
New batteries are around $6 - $8 each.
Thank you for all the info. All this battery talk sounds like a foreign language to me. So I'm doing my best to learn how it all works.According to Mooch's Safety Chart, the Panny 18650 B will shut down and not pass current above 10 amps. He rates it as safe, but it also won't work at higher current draws. In other words, it's safe enough, but it's not what you want. Let me recommend either Sony VTC4s or Samsung 25Rs for the job. I read in a thread here yesterday Illumn had the VTC4s on sale in a 4-pack for 6 bucks each. RTDVapor was also having a 4-pack sale on VTC4s at $29 and including 2 safe storage boxes last time I looked. THe other supplier I will recommend is Orbtronic.
Yeah I just checked some local shops websites and they are asking 15-20 a piece. Think I'll just order from a reputable online dealer. All this battery stuff is so confusing right now.I doubt decent batteries will be $6- $8 at a B&M.
Don't buy any counterfeit, fake or re wrapped & erroneously labeled batteries.
A few reputable dealers / vendors;
RTD vapor
Illumination supply
Orbtronics
Take a look at the page from @Mooch 's blog I linked. It's a chart and it will be easy to find the battery you're thinking about buying on it, to see what kind of load it will handle. But all you really need to know for your mod is Sony VTC4 or Samsung 25R. Either will work. Do buy them from a reputable supplier, though. I linked you three of them.Thank you for all the info. Yeah I'm gonna just order from one of the sites listed above. I sure don't want a time bomb in my hand with the wrong battery or with a counterfeit/rewrap waiting to blow.Imo skip the b&m. They will be expensive and could be fakes and rewraps, and the store might not even know. Topwater elvis recommended the best sites, cheap and absolutely genuine products. Imo batteries are like tires and brakes on your car, dont go cheap. What you got now isnt ideal, but that aspire cf mod should definitely hold you over till you get an order in.

I stand corrected.It depends on if the OP has a protected or non protected version of the ncr18650b.
An unprotected cell won't 'shut down' at any given amp load.
Neither version is considered a high drain battery.
Using a 6.8a battery in a device with a typical 10a drain & a 20a max drain is not "safe enough".
I want to be as safe as possible while getting a good vape. I'm glad there is a place I can come to and get the right information from a group of experienced people. I'm so excited to play with my new toy but don't want to do it without following safety protocols first.Yea, battery stuff can be very confusing. Especially when all we want to do is just have a decent vape.
But it's great to see you approaching all this carefully! Check out @Baditude blogs. There's really great stuff there for learning a bit about batteries.
