Hey all, so I'm beginning to see this is a very complex thing but hopefully I can get some good suggestions from the ECF community.
First of all, I'm a regular smoker (half a pack to a pack per day) and I'm looking to replace the nasty with some vape. I see the difference in vape production between cigalikes and the clear tanks and I'm considering just going for the gold to start.

I had the Blu starter kit about 2 years ago and the flavor was decent but the vapor production was just not enough, which I think is what led me back to smoking cigs. I really liked how easy it was to use though!

I'm looking for something thats not too big and bulky but it doesnt need to be the exact size of a cig and also does not need a ton of maintenance. Main things I'm looking for is a lot of vapor production and obviously flavor.

Any suggestions on startup kits or links to individual items would be much appreciated.
Ive been searching this forum and the internet trying to compare and contrast perks and options for about 3 hours and it seems the possibilities are limitless. I'm just burnt out so hopefully I can get some tips from people who have already been through this ordeal.

I think probably the best fit for you would be the eGo-C Mega Twist. It's about the same size as the other cigarette sized models, but it is variable voltage up to 5v so you will be able to get plenty of vapor out of it. Maintenance is also similar to other cigarette sized models, in which you use a combination of a cartridge, atomizer, and battery, with the cartridges being changed the most frequently.

tell you what helped me out, i went to a few shops and actually asked to try some different units out. i bought a tip so i could just swap out the tank and try different units. i also went to a few different shops, some i had a good experiences, some i'll never go back again. finally decided on an evic and also ordered the shorter 18350 batt. couldnt be happier with a VV/VW (variable voltage/variable wattage) unit. the first e cig i purchased was a starter kit from ego, not exactly the best but it was a starting point

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE

2 Batteries, 1 Charger, and a optional USB/Wall Adaptor. Recommend 2 of the three juice delivery device options.

spinnerbattery.jpg
Vision eGo Spinner (easier to read settings, easier to use voltage dial) or Joyetech eGo Twist variable voltage batteries.

eGocharger.jpg
Appropriate charger and possibly a USB/wall unit to provide the option to charge away from a computer port.

Juice Delivery Devices:

single coil cartomizers.jpg
A (5) pack of single coil cartomizers at 2.5-3.0 ohm resistance. You'll also need at least one drip tip (mouth piece) to put on the end of these.

clearomizer.jpg
A couple of clearomizers (Vision or Kanger T3) to try.

A Vision Mini Vivi Nova tank to try.

*All the above can be found at Altsmoke. AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Your one stop shop!

* Disclaimer: I provide the vendor's link only as a suggested retailer. A potential buyer can choose who and where to purchase their items wherever they wish. I have no affiliation with the suggested vendor, however they are a popular and reputable e-cig business used by many ECF members.

Juice, or e-liquid:

For e-liquid, a typical 1 pack-per-day smoker likely will need 18-24 mg nicotine.

Figure on consuming 3-5 ml of liquid daily.

half the people here are just going to sing the "get an Ego" song... but to me that's like smoking a pipe or something. big, bulky and heavy.

for a beginner i would recommend one of the V2 starter kits. That's what i started with then i tried a few others and ended up going back to V2. They are small, light to carry around and don't look dorky. earlier today i wrote a comparison of some of the slim types that i've used (slim meaning the ones that look like tobacco cigarettes). you can view it here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...volt-side-side-808-comparison-kr808d-1-a.html

This is great. Just what I was looking for. So I think to start out I am going to get an eGo clearomizer and and an ego twist battery.
If i were to order carts too, would the liquid be the same for both the clearomizer & the carts?
Which option is more popular or better liked?
Also, would I be all set with just ordering these things or am I missing something (besides a charger)?

Gahhh. The V2 isn't going to give you enough vapor either if the Blu didn't. Stay away from ALL the e-cigs with automatic switches and stick with the manuals if you're having issues with getting enough vapor production. Thus why I recommended the particular model of eGo I did... it's manual and variable voltage, but unlike most manual/variable voltage e-cigs it's still somewhat comparable in size to a "realistic" e-cig with an automatic switch.

Go for an E-lites (the UK brand) they are running a big tv ad campaign at the moment, though I was using them several months before they started.

They just consist of tips that can be refilled (though they don't mention this on their site as they want you buying new tips constantly) and battery+cartom in one piece.

So only 2 pieces, looks like a normal cig, tiny bit larger, decent weight and good battery life with plenty of vapour production. Just buy their starter kit then any e-liquid you choose and refill their tips, this makes a top notch brand WAY cheaper to use as you don't have to buy replacement tips as they imply on their website.

It's the only brand I have tried, but they work so well I haven't felt the need to try anything else. They have just started selling them in the US I think, so worth checking out, made in the UK and a good quality e-cig all round.
