I need to replace a Vision Spinner. I know Ego makes variable voltage and variable voltage/variable watt style batteries. I'm relatively new to vaping but I'm all in as I quit smoking the day I got my E-go kit four months ago. But during that time I've never vaped over 3.7 volts on my Spinner and usually prefer my regular Ego-T battery. vaping at higher volts on the Spinner just gave me a ton of hot foul tasting vapor! However I don't know what variable watts bring to the table. Does changing the watts make the additional power taste better, is it possible to vape with low voltage but higher wattage & would there be significant change to make it worth trying?
Thanks for the input!

It's either volts or watts, not both. I've had the same experiance as you, vaping at about 3.8. I have 2 different types of Innokin VV/VW batteries (an SVD & a VV V3), and have found setting the watts at 7.5 works well for me. If you use watts, then the battery automatically adjusts for the resistance of whatever head you put in, so you don't adjust every time you chage heads/tanks. The problem I've had is the VV/VW batteries don't last as long as a 1300 Spinner, so I have to charge them more often. For me personally, I think I'll be sticking with Spinners after my VV/VW's die. My SVD will be used primarily for testing the resistance of new heads, so I know what to set the Spinner at. Trial & error. :)

Wattage refers to a function of voltage, resistance and/or current. To put it simply the watts directly relate to the actual heat dissipated by the coil. Watts also directly relate to the output voltage, it's just a bit more convenient as a way to dial it in. A VW device will measure your resistance and then apply the correct voltage to achieve your wattage setting. How high this can go for low resistance atomizers will be limited by the output current of the circuit or the battery.

Variable watts only brings a slight convenience to the table if you like your device to have a no-brain setting that you enjoy keeping it at.
Your vape quality mostly depends on the quality/speed of wicking. You may find that you can get certain flavors really hot (read higher voltage/wattage) in a better wicking atty. A great ego-sized VW device is the innokin itaste VW v3. I personally don't use egos anymore so I can't say much about the itaste VW battery life for a heavy vaper as I am.

The Innokin Itazte VV3 is only 800 mAh, although it's capable of running in "pass thru" mode if you're near a USB port.

The SVD can handle any 18650 battery. I use mostly ones in the range of 2400 to 3000 mAh, so vape time is significantly longer than even my 1300 Spinners. (Or yu can telescope it down and use a 700mAh 18350 - makes a nice small package, but you'd best carry a couple extra batteries :) )

But if you like the feel of the Spinners, just get two :)

You don't say what toppers you're using, and they can make a big difference in the vape. Things like top or bottom coil, the air flow through the topper, juice viscosity and flavor can all affect the vape. Burning is often from just running too high a power for the particular combination. VV/VW allows you to tailor your vape to your preferences, by controlling either the volts or the watts. Just start low and work up until happy.

I have the eGo-V V3 Mega as well, and it works really well. VW is a great feature...just set it and forget it! I switch between that and an EVOD VV spinner when I'm out and about.

Thing I hate about spinners is they die so bloody fast. I'm at a computer all day, so charging is no issue, but still they die way too fast.

I'd get myself an MVP v2 2600mah mod if I was to do it again. One of those would beat my 2 spinners no problem.

In case you are wondering, 2 batteries at 1300mah is NOT the same as 1 battery at 2600mah. If you are drawing (for example) 1.3A from both batteries, you are discharging at 1C with the 1300, and at 0.5C on the 2600. Batteries last longer when discharged at a lower coulomb amount, so the single larger battery will last longer than the 2 smaller ones.

Just my 2 cents...otherwise grab 2 or 3 of those v3 megas...

I have the itaste VV 3.0, and I think it's way better than my old Vision Spinner. Battery doesn't last as long, but everything else about it is much better. Plus, it's a passthrough, so if I need to vape while it's plugged in, I can. If you want to stick with an ego sized device, the vv 3.0 is pretty sweet. If you are open to something larger, there is a whole world of awesome possibilities.

Ive got the VV 2.0 mega and the VV 3.0 mega. The 2.0 os a 1200mah and the 3.0 is a 1300mah. Both are great batteries as far as ease of use and reliability go. IMO one of these is the only logical step to take between spinners and removable-battery VV/VW mods like SVDs or VAMOs. The VV 3.0 has all the same functions as a VV/VW mod power supply has and then some. You cant use an SVD while charging unless you purchase another battery for it, where as the VVs have usb pass through that allows you to vape while charging. Id say to progress from a spinner the VV style is the way to go, especially when cost is factored in. I paid $20 for my VV 2.0 and $28 for my VV 3.0, considering the cheapest ive seen an SVD go for is $40 (WITHOUT BATTERY AND CHARGER) youd have to be dense not to get a VV style after a spinner if you arent really ready to commit to a removable battery mod
