Ok so here is my next crazy project. As some of you may know I've been messing around with custom mod blocks. When I do it... I like to go all out so I thought to myself... how can I make this easier (harder). So I'm working on a template making thingy but I need to compile as many base widths as possible. Conceptually, you will be able to create a layout template by picking the devices you have and the size of the object you are cutting into and then you will be able to print out the overlay that you can then just cut out by using a drill press and or freehand it with a regular drill and a spade bit/forstner bit.

Short of going to EVERY manufacturer website and looking them up I thought I would ask for a little help from you guys. If you can find some time, can you please get out a measuring tape and measure the base of your mod (if it's a box, please measure length and width). So far, I already have (because I own):

iTaste:
134
SVD

Nemesis

M16

Vamo V2

eGo Passthrough

18650 batteries

18350 batteries

I would like whatever device you may have. Please OVER measure your device by the nearest 1/16th as the device will need to sit snugly in the hole and if you under measure it then it won't fit. If you have any other neat accessories that would make sense to sit in a mod block feed free to submit them too. As an added incentive... whomever submits the most non-duplicate measurements by Dec. 15th will receive a thank you gift for me.

You can submit your measurements at the following link:

Submit Here

For the device image, you can copy and paste an image link from google images if you want instead of using a picture you took (completely optional, it just helps me out vs having to track down my own pictures for the templates)

If you encounter Duplicate values found for 'Device Model' it means that your model is already listed.

You can view measurements already submitted by clicking on the Device List option at the top of the screen.

Thank you SO much and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone!! :vapor:

How about a few slots with cutouts for side button mech mods like the Sigelei #8? Possibly even one or two slots for box mods (mvp series, vtr, various reos). Personally I would love to see a stand with some juice bottle storage for different sized bottles and a square cutout/compartment for the caps so you can stand uncapped bottles upright for convenient dripping. And if you're a person that likes to switch atties and tanks, you can add a few holes for 510 connections so you can stand your toppers upright.

Sounds like a great idea! The only thing I can think of that would be a problem is the various sizes of the bottles. Are you able to submit a few sizes from the mfr that you use? I will upload some generic sizes but I'd like to be able to offer more custom options.

Sure I can do that when I get home from work. I think all I have on hand right now are Mt Baker Vapor and Backwoods Brew 15 ml bottles but I'll do what I can. And also, can't forget drip tip storage!

IIRC, drip tips should all be the same width in theory right? I will add that later today when I head out to the shop. I'm fabbing up some new designs at my friends request. Thanks for your help LEE

First template run was a success!! Granted, it was a simple design, however the battery holder and drip tip holder turned out better than I expected (at least the lines were straight!!) The template was set up for a blank board of 3.25" by 6.5". The drag and drop interface for the different size dots seems to be working really well however the alignment take a bit of patience. I may try to create a "grid" you can "snap" to to make alignment easier. Let me know what you think and I still need your help getting more sizes!!

Stay tuned to the PIF forum for these puppies to be given away.

So I got those sizes from the bottles. The Backwoods Brew 15mL bottle is dead on at an inch so I would say 1-1/16 on that. The cap to the BB 15mL is 3/4 inch at the base so 13/16 overestimate. The Mt Baker Vapor bottle is right at 15/16 so if I overestimate again it's exactly 1 inch and the cap is 14/16 overestimated.

I've been thinking about it and making different templates for different styles of vaping would be kinda neat. So for examples a dripper stand with spots for a couple mechs, a couple extra batteries, extra atties, juice bottles and slots their corresponding caps, and a couple drip tips.

Then maybe a tanker stand with cutouts for vv/vw devices, extra batteries, a few extra tanks, a tank tool, juice bottles, and a couple drip tips.

And then possibly an ego/clearo stand with spots for a couple egos, a vv/vw device, juice bottles, extra battery for the mod, a couple drip tips, spaces big enough to fit ego cone threading toppers, and then a couple more for 510 toppers.

Of course you could also make templates that had everything and anything to have all your bases covered, but by splitting them up into categories it would be easier to organize devices and tools for what they are used for most instead of having to hunt through one giant stand to find what you wanted

Thanks for the measurements, I added them to the database. As far as making custom stands go, the idea behind the project is such that any John Doe can decide what he wants on his stand, drag and drop his selections onto the template and print it out. The overlay will then direct him/her where to cut out the holes. The idea is to organize as many devices/things that one could want in a stand into one place so you don't need to trial and error on the sizes. It will also allow you to get clean lines and a nice straight cut. On the software end, the list of all the devices come with pre-made, draggable shapes in the size of the device. So if you want lets say 4 batteries, an atty, a 134 and a 15ml bottle from backwoods brew, you would drag and drop them off the list onto your template in whatever order you want, select your size of wood, and print. You can then drill it out with a drill or a drill press off of the template. All it does is simplify the process of creating a mod block and create one centralized database of all the sizes you may need.
