So, I thought I would hang a starter kit on two of my good neighbors' mailboxes. My ideas, however well intentioned, aren't always welcomed. Am I stepping over the line?
I have over the years vaped and talked about vaping in their presence and we're still friends. That's pretty much where it ends tho.
    Any thoughts welcome. Ty

    I'm guessing they are smokers?

Might be better to deliver in person, be able to show them the ropes, so to speak, on how to fill, use and maintain. And some info on nic strength, different flavors, so they know about options. :2c:

I'd recommend a more direct approach, as in actually asking them if they would want to try it on your dime, just leaving it on their mailbox, if it were me, the items would probably wind up in the trash bin.

When I was still a diehard smoker, I was resentful of folks who would try to persuade me to quit, often times because of social necessity, I would be polite and nonchalant in conversation, but I would note a little tick mark in my mental ledger against them...

I don't think that's the best approach. I would have been upset if someone just left me a starter kit. Also you should know it's illegal to leave anything in or on a mailbox. While the mailbox belongs to you, the federal government considers its use for them only and will be jerks and go after people using a mailbox without paying to send something. Give the starter kits in person or hang them on their doors with a nice friendly note.

When i smoked i would have taken offence if someone did that to me......
Best course of action would be to talk to them using ' I can't believe i don't want to smoke anymore' or 'i never believed vaping would be better than smoking' phrases or some such. Don't overly push it and their natural curiosity (and well hidden wish to quit smoking) should do the rest.

I would let them see me vaping or see one of my vapes in hand. If they ask about it, explain your experience. If they want to try it, give them something you have that you would start with if you were starting now. If they don't ask, they're probably not interested.

It's kinda like unsolicited advice, most people don't like it.

I like the cat analogy. If you try to put a cat in a paper bag, they'll fight you. If you leave a bag on the floor, they'll go in it willingly.

If you have vaped and talked about vaping in their presence, have they showed any curiosity toward it? If they have then I’d just give it to them in person and show them how it works. If they haven’t I’d just say I have a free device, would you be interested in trying it. They may not be interested in quitting. Just because it works for us and we enjoy it doesn’t mean it’s for everybody. Still wouldn’t hurt to ask but in person is the way to go I think/

I don't think I would leave them on the mailbox...but you could speak with them, have one in hand and say "I have this extra and was wondering if you would be interested in having it".
That’s what I did with my coupons. She’s using them so that’s a plus!
