Hello,

I just got my Titan 510 in the mail a few days ago. I charged up the manual batteries and started using it. It hit like a champ! There was a bitter oily taste which I'm assuming was the factory primer. The strange thing is.. once the primer burned off, the vapor started getting weaker the more I used it. I tried refilling and topping of my carts with JC Arctic Mint juice. I keep my batteries fully charged. I can't even get good vapor with direct dripping. I watch tutorial videos of the 510 and these people get massive plumes of smoke. I'm hitting it the same way as the people in the videos, also the same way people here on the forums say to drag. I've tried light, long and consistent drags. I've also tried shorter drags in succession. I've even ran the attys under scalding hot water and rinsed them repeatedly. What am I doing wrong, please help!

It could just be a bad atty... it happens. Do you have another atty to try? If you try and clean them, remember they have to be absolutely dry before you can use them again. Personally, all I ever do is blow them out, my thinking being, the more you mess with them, the better chance of ruining them. JMO, but I just started with my second one. My first one lasted over 2 months.

One of the attys I got with my Titan was dead. I mean nothing right off the bat, the other one worked great. I was going to return it, but read hear to try putting it in boiling water. I did, and to my amazement, it started working. I have no idea why, but you might try giving that a shot. I just boiled some water and dropped it in. Took it out when the water had cooled enough to get it out, and let it dry off a few hours. Good luck...

I guess I should have put a caveat on the buy back of 'don't put anything in water' :) but my offer still stands. A few things, other than wrecked parts - which you now may have after the scalding hot water - that can happen with the 510 is the atomizer is either too dry or too wet. If you thoroughly dry out the atomizers and start over, drop 2 or 3 drops on the atomizer bridge and huff it a little to get it started - ie. draw and puff a few times like you're smoking a pipe or a cigar trying to get the fire going and then resort to regular draws and you should be good. If not... then PM me like I said in the original post.

Ok, so I'm getting mixed advice here. I should or should not be cleaning these attys with boiling water?

I washed one of the attys in boiling water, and just now started using the other for the first time. Same deal though, hits well at first then the performance drops off.

tlc - I have two attys and they both did the same thing. They hit well while burning off the primer. Once the factory primer is gone, they no longer produce good vapor.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

I tried the boiling thing a couple times with my 901 and each time I ended up with a dead atty.

You say y ou have a 510. Does it have manual batteries? If so I would try to do a quick dry burn on it. When my atty gets to where it isn't hitting well I take the cart off, push the battery button for a few seconds until I see a little vapor, then release and repeat a couple of more times. Then I drip about 3 good sized drops ( from a 6ml bottle to give you an idea of how big a drop) and put the cart back on it and things are back to working fine. I have nearly 8 weeks on this atty now.

If you can't get them to work right contact your supplier. It isn't unheard of to get bad attys right off that bat. I wish you the best of luck!

hmmmmmmmm with my 510 starter, got 2 attys, one was real good, still in use, the other, just so so, hard to discern, my only deal is to blow it out, and keep the cart soaked, I have had such good luck, Im sure it will run out sometime, and I will just replace, this device is way too positive to give up on...........just sayin'

My first guess is flooded atty - it can make your vapor progressively weaker as more and more liquid hits your atomizer.

Second guess is wet atty, from cleaning - it can take a long time for an atomizer to dry, even if you blow it out or use canned air. Until the water completely evaporates, you won't get much vapor, if any at all.

Third possibility, nothing is wrong - there's definitely a learning curve with these things, it takes a week or so to really figure them out... :)

Thank you for the help everyone. Here's the deal at this point. The second atty is now working fine, I think I just had to break it in. The other atty is still out of commission, I tried soaking it in grain alcohol like JD suggested (thank you JD) and still nothing. I just contacted Cignot.com and asked if I could replace it. I've heard good things about that site and am pretty sure I'll be able to do an exchange with out any problems. Thanks again everyone :)

Good news. I do the same with attys. Soak in 151 vodka for about an hour or two. The clear vodka gets yellowish so something's coming off the mesh and the coil. I used to but no longer use canned air - just blow out the atty from both ends and when I blow from the cart end I also put my finger over the hole in the battery end and blow and suck (no jokes) to clear the atomizer holes on the side. Sometimes they can get plugged with juice - esp if you're using VG where you're not getting a good draw. Then sit them out on a paper towel and let them dry some more.

I have extra attys to swap out - so if they are not going right back in the ecig, I put about 3-4 drops of unflavored no nic PG on the atty bridge - to keep them wet and then put them in a zip lock and squeeze the air out of the bag and seal it. It takes a lot longer to write this down than the do it but haven't lost on atty in 3 months but again, I'm swapping them out so each has a month and a half 'service'. I left one in the 151 overnight and while it still works it is the worst performer - I think the wicking or insulation material under the mesh bridge got too soaked and started to come out of place.

So the 151 soak is 1-2 hours max now and like Jim said, the high proof alcohol tends to dry better than water. And while some people use water, coke, isopropal alcohol, some who have used them quit using them for various reasons. And it may be best just to blow them out and not soak them at all IF you're not having any problems with them. It's only when they become unworkable to where you tend to 'try anything' and sometimes that works, sometimes not.

We're all still beta testers in a sense. I hope this helps.

I have been using JC juice and after a week I noticed a drop off of vapor. I tried soaking it in Vodka for about half an hour. The vodka had turned a nice brownish color and had some particulates in it ( maybe this was from swapping PCB with PTB wicks or just dust) and looked kinda like urine. I had been using the Arctic JC to get my menthol kick and it has a brown look to it. I blew it out and placed it back into my 510 and can really see a difference. Good draw again and plenty of vapor. I used a regular vodka but I will try something a bit more like 151 next if I don't end up with everclear.

Wow.. just.. wow. Cignot.com has the best service of any company I've ever dealt with. I emailed them yesterday and got a reply today saying that my new atty was about to be shipped. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to return the defective one so I asked in a reply. No joke, I got a reply in less than 5 minutes. All I did was close the hotmail tab and reopen it to check the shipping number and there was another reply.

Jules - I tried a quick dry burn like you had suggested, for my working atty, and it helped a bit. Now I'm getting this strong burnt taste. Is that normal? I'm sure there's some threads on this topic so, I'll do some research. However, the dry burn did improve performance a bit. Thanks again.

Yup, I think the JC Arctic Mint juice was part of the problem. I had a bottle of their older formula, Original Tobacco flavor, and tried that for the first time in my 510. I get a whole lot more vapor with that stuff. It has a little less of a throat hit though. I think their new 'improved' formula bogs downs the atty and doesn't hit as well as the older stuff, as far as the Arctic Mint goes. I just ordered some menthol juice from totalywicked, I'll see how that juice performs. Hopefully it will be more menthol than the Arctic Mint too, that stuff kind of tasted sweet like vanilla to me.
