Trying to decide what to build a 6 volt mod out of, and what type of batteries...
Any thoughts/experiences would be greatly Appreciated! :D

Also Keeping it cost effective at the same time, I just want to build a good mod that would comfortable and well constructed, like out of acrylic or even a flashlight, whatever...

I have some lifep04 and some 3.0v 16340 li-ons. The regulated 16340s keep closer to 6.0v output at the beginning just because they're regulated. They're actually 3.7v batts with regulators on/in them. The lifep04 batts charge to about 3.5v so they start out around 7.0v.

OK, that said: I prefer the lifep04 batts even though they come off the charger at higher voltage. They drop to 3.0v pretty fast and stay there longer than my 16340s. And when they die, they just die and don't drop off as slowly as li-ons.

I think I'm getting close to abandoning li-on batts for my mods entirely. IMRs and lifep04 batts act better, and the 4.8v ni-mh batts are just plain interesting for their safety and versatility.

For making your own? I dunno. They're usually used in tube mods that are made specifically to use them and they don't really fit in any battery boxes I've seen yet. I've found a couple of flashlight bodies that could fit them, but not two of them so it wouldn't work for six volts.

The only thing I can think of is maybe some copper, brass or pvc tubing cut to size...or making your own box out of wood. I'm actually working on a vv box that i've put together from old, very thin plywood that will use two 16340's and these battery contacts. But I haven't found anything that would hold two 16340's that wasn't made specifically to do so.

A tube. probably. I use them in my maxi rough stacks and a copper mod that keeps finding its way back to me. A flashlight is probably the way to go.

I have seen a few box mods that hold a couple of 16340s. I don't know which would be the right project box for them, though. Just about anything that will take an 18650 or 17650 has enough room to stack a couple of 16340s.
