it is a genesis type tank. i know how to use the search feature but wanted to ask anyways
what kind of material is best to use for wick building?

ive see people use ss rope and mesh
ss rope covered with silica
straight silica, silica double, tripled up and wraped

the only thing i saw was the same in most the videos is kantal wire

now im new and and my preferences are cooler smoke and tastier. i dont use nicotine and i hate the harsh taste.

i purchased some silica in 2mm and 3mm and some 30ga kantal

i saw someone on youtube take a ss rope and slide the top of it into some silica wick...looks easy so i wast to try this.

anyways here are my questions so that i can get started

- what is the difference between using straight silica and ss mesh/rope
- whats the difference in oxidized mesh screen/rope opposed to one with a sleeve
- what does hight and lower ohms do and how can i get different #s
thanks

There's a million ways to wick a genesis style atomizer. I would just start with a basic oxidized SS mesh wick and experiment from there. The idea behind oxidizing mesh is that it will be nonconductive and you can roll a coil right onto it. If you run into hot leg and shorting issues, using a cotton/ekowool/??? sleeve can help avoid shorts and hot legs. Sleeving cotton or silica inside of the mesh helps with wicking if you aren't getting enough saturation. I've never used SS rope/wire so I can't comment on it. Keep in mind that if you use cotton on your wick at all, you can NOT dry burn it. Using silica cores/sleeves can help with certain issues but they create others and lose some of the advantages of using a stainless steel wick. Don't bother until you know if you're going to want the tradeoff or not.

The ohms are the resistance of your coil, which affect hot hot it heats up with the same voltage. Mechanical mods always fire the voltage of the battery (they start off at 4.2v and usually spend most of their charge at 3.7v) so you adjust how it hits using the resistance. You can calculate how the coil will hit (the wattage) using an ohms law calculator (google) and the voltage+resistance of the coil.

I just bought my first RBA as well I picked up an GO W from a local store and I was just reading over the cotton ball/ sterile cotton thread. I don't know much about SS wick but I know their are certain tanks you shouldn't use it in. I ordered a Kraken clone the other day and I'm interested as well in all this.

You want to use an SS wick in the kraken. You can use cotton + microcoil but it won't wick against gravity so you will need to tip the mod around.

You can use just silica if you want, its really all personal preference.

I don't use genesis style devices often but when I do I use ss cable with ss mesh under the coil.

If you need to get some cable or mesh check out McMaster-Carr
I buy 316 SS but 304 should be fine too just make sure you aren't getting anything thats galvanized or anything like that.
