Hello all! I'm new to not only this forum, but also the vaping world. I got started with a little pen looking thingy that my mother in law no longer had a use for. Saturday, I went to my local shop for more juice, and walked out with a stingray x-mod, and a rebuild-able fogger tank. I love the amount of vape I get, the only 2 downsides are the button to activate, and the fact that I am already out of juice! I didn't realize that it went so quickly! I will be asking many questions, not only because I'm new, but also because I'm good with my hands, and in the time I was perusing the local shop, they built a mechanical drip mod out of a ps2 controller, and it gave me some ideas. Thanks!

Truthfully, I was really excited about my new mod, and I don't believe that they mentioned anything about safety other than an accessory that came with my mod was unsafe due to not having a certain piece. I know practically nothing about vaping other than I've tried a few flavors, and unlike my original theory, I apparently do not like coffee flavored liquids. I know a bit about the mechanical aspect of electronics, for example, I know enough to build my own, but will it be safe? I'm not sure. How dangerous could it possibly be other than some of the base chemicals can be very flammable. any advice I get will be put to good use and I usually don't rely on just one source. opinions vary and so do experiences so I like to get a reasonable amount. Thank you for the welcome, it's nice to see such friendly people in a large community forum.

I bought a starter kit for V2s back in 2013, then almost immediately my daughter had a car accident. Threw me for six it did. No chance of changing my smoking habit back then. Anyway, that was then... this is now. I've been vaping for about one week... like I said.. all shiny new I am... does anyone know how I can access good quality V2 cartridges at an affordable price (I live in Queensland Australia), the cartridges I've got are 1.2 % Nicotine.

That's where I'm at... that's what I'm liking right now. 1.2 %. And now I see that our Aussie govt in all their warped wisdom, has banned the sale of Nicotine- containing vapours within this great land.

So I ordered a small amount (20 cartridges from 'V2' in the US), but cost me much more in Shipping and Handling fees than did the cost of the actual cartridges. I can't keep spending that sort of money. I'm on a pension, Disability pension. Has anyone got any ideas out there??? 'Cause I'm getting desperate. My own stash of cartridges may not last till the US shipment arrives. Someone suggested eBay... anyone got any experience with shopping for cartridges on eBay?

Any advice will be taken read and considered and sorely appreciated. I need you guys out there. Seems this E-Cigarette Forum is all I've got for advice out there.

I have a bit of a problem. The V2 Cartridges that I bought with the Starter Kit I have, have almost run out. So I went online to try to buy some more. But loh! and behold! ... since I'd bought these (back in 2013.. not the time to quit the tobacco back then.. daughter had a car accident... put on hold till now) ... so since I bought these cartridges and starter kit.. the cartridges I might add are 1.2% Nicotine.. well Australia's National Government.. in all their "twisted wisdom" ... have banned the sale of Nicotine-containing-vapours within Australia.

So I have been hard pressed to know what to do. I was desperate... needed and needing more cartridges 1.2%... asap, as I'm now running out.

So, in the end as I just didn't know what to do... I bought from the V2 company in the US. Cost of Shipping and Handling is prohibitive to say the least. I think it cost me $54 Shipping + $5 Handling, US$ i.e. Exchange rates are not so good.. to boot! The actual 20 Cartridges were way less cost.. though can't remember exactly how much right now. Still... I'm a disability pensioner... that cost is much more than if I was actually smoking tobacco... so!!! What to do???

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I'd be very grateful for all and any suggestions and advice.

"When you build your coil and fire it on your mod, it will draw a specific amount of current (amps) from the battery. That current must not be more than the total amps in continuous discharge rate of the battery, or very bad things could happen.



Never fire a coil without first confirming the ohm resistance on an ohm reader or multimeter. You can't just rely on a coil wrapping calculator or somebody's recommendations, there's too much chance for human error. The smallest error can be catastrophic. Even seasoned veterans always check the resistance of their coils on a meter to make sure they are safe."

Please read everything I posted (and open all the links and read them too). It's VERY IMPORTANT that you understand battery safety, Ohm's Law, amp limitations and how they all relate to vaping. If you did not purchase an Ohm Reader or own a DMM you will need one of those as well. Preferably both. You cannot discharge your batteries too low or you will not be able to recharge them.

What type of batteries did you purchase (brand, mah, amp limit)? Do you know the ohm of the build they did for you?

Hi I'm also in Australia, I ordered istick from Australian company with mini nautilus as my main vaping ecig. Ecig Australia. I order my juice from vape wild and nicoticket and niccquid so far. The juice can take 2 weeks to arrive so order in bulk! Also if you prefer smaller ecigs try smokeless image I love the little volts and you can buy juice and blank cartridges from them but I stongly recommend buying juice bottles and the mini clearos. As for immediate need for juice this is a problem as we are forced to buy overseas now.

Hi and welcome to ECF. Great to have you with us. There is a lot to learn if you are going to start your vaping career with the type of gear you have. To be safe and keep those around you safe you need to understand how your gear works, how to maintain it, and how to use it. You may want to pick up a regulated vv/vw mod and some type of clearo tank to use until you get the info you need. Or go back to using that pen ecig until you have done your homework.

Shame on that vape shop for selling you equipment that you do not know how to use properly.

This is a very unlikely thing to happen to someone who is using a cigalike or ego style battery and a clearo. This situation is more regarding advanced batteries and gear being used improperly, not beginner level gear, although there are safe operating measures and information every vaper needs to know.

Please stay with us and do a little reading and ask questions before you decide vaping is not for you. There are many here that are willing to help you and give you information so you can enjoy your vaping safely. Here is a link to a thread that has a lot of information for new vapers.

No need to be concerned IF you purchase a beginner/intermediate setup that includes a regulated mod AND a tank/clearomizer that uses stock coils.

Yikes those are some seriously terrifying pictures! I like to think I know what I'm doing with my builds, but those are enough to scare even brave-old-me back into tanks for life!

On a side note, have you tried any of the Steam flavors? I stopped into their shop during my last trip to Sydney - totally weird part of town and an adventure to get out there via train during rush hour, to say the least - but the juice was amazing and staff very knowledgable. They mixed up some Plime to my specifications (all mixed to order - which for me is naturally max VG) and it remains the best juice I have ever tasted. Weird not being able to get any nic in it (per Aussie regulations), but at 0 mg it became my bedtime vape at home. I hung out to build and chat a while with the two ladies working that day and we had a long, fascinating conversation about Tasmania, the Lost Generation, and world politics. I promised them I'd come back the next time I can get down there, and you better believe I will!
