I am new. Just joined literally 5 minutes ago. I've been reading through your posts. I like this forum and have found it very helpful. Now I need your help.

I have smoked one pack a day for the past 15 years, as a matter of fact there is a Marlboro Menthol burning away in my ashtray as I type. I've tried quitting (multiple times) and obviously did not succeed.

I WANT TO GIVE E-CIGARETTES A TRY!

I have been to the numerous vendor websites looking at prices, atomizers, batteries etc. What I want is quality, cost effectiveness over the long term, and to figure out what dripping is, and how exactly users get this liquid in their mouths. *gross*

I want to smoke e-cigarettes, but I want it to be cost effective. More than my $5 a day habit that I have now. I don't want to get hooked and have to internet order cartridges for some outrageous price time and time again or have the battery fail. I need good vapor as a serious menthol smoker, I don't want to have to replace faulty parts time and time again.

In other words, I want the best e-cigarette experience with the best quality craftmanship, and lowest cost of ownership.

I do drive a Honda after all.

Thanks for your help and hopefully future support.

Firstly - don't confuse "cost" and "cost of ownership".

If what you are looking for is really low "cost of ownership" then you should go straight to one of the big battery devices (or "mods" as a lot of people call them). These use generic atomisers and carts which can be sourced from multiple suppliers, and - more importantly, generic batteries which are cheap and last a very long time (both in terms of charge cycle and overall life). There are lots to choose from (I have a Screwdriver but there plenty of alternatives) - I'd suggest getting a "regular" 3.7volt device to start with.

Most of these devices will now support different atomisers (via adapters). From what you have said, I'd suggest starting with 901 atomisers.

hello im on day 3 and ive tried almost everything that people have done to improve there vapeing experience.i get excellent inhale big vape, but my batts need to be fresh, and i drip a drop on top of a fairly wet cart.or i get excellent results from 3 drips and a empty cart.now this happens every 2-3 vapes,so its labour intensive but i feel great not smoking,so its all worth it.:)

Don't count out the 2 piece models as well, the E9, V9 and KR8 series. I would recommend (and I think that most would agree) that you should hand out on the forums for a little while and then make an informed decision, otherwise you may find yourself in the same situation that a lot of us have in that you have a lot of hardware that you never use (and spent a bunch of money on) before you finally find what works for you.

Best of luck, and feel free to ask as many questions as you need to.

Edit: by the way, I'm using a Vapor King from Vapor4Life

Hi and welcome. I'm also pretty new and agree with the last post. There are some good brands 510 , 901, kr808d-1, etc. and it's all to the users preference. I bought a 510 and upon opening and trying I said Oh No NOT me, I'm not the one. I hated it but within an hour or so I had it working with the help of this site and the people and learned to vape properly. I now like it and have only smoked about 5 marlboro's in the past3 or 4 days and I smoked for 45+ yrs. I tried the patches, gum, chewing, etc. and it all failed. I am extremely confident this will be my answer. Just investigate the brands in this forum to find the one you prefer and do your self a favor and read The guide to e-cigs 1 through 6 at the beginning of this forum, It is very informative. good luck.

If there's one thing I could advise you on - to save you a lot frustration and expense. Do EXACTLY what you are doing here and that's to read all you can right here on the forum. DO NOT be afraid to ask questions. I have never in my life met a more friendly and helpful group of people.

I smoked for 40+ yrs - full flavor Marlboro Reds - pack and a half minimum a day. New's Year's Eve was the last analog I had ( analog is what they call real cigs - you'll get familiar with the various terms - took me forever to understand the lingo ).

I started out with one of the el-cheapo kits off the internet without researching anything at all - and I surely didn't know about this forum. I wish I had because I would have saved a ton of money and stress.

After the cheapo - I opted to buy a couple of the screwdrivers - which I have still and really love - very dependable and pretty cool looking, and very well made, BUT I decided I needed something with some more punch so I ordered one of the high voltage mods - I'm still in the process of figuring out the best way to use it without burning through attys ( atty's is another slang for atomizers ) -- I also have another HV mod in route, so I feel like I'll be covered as far as tools. You can also make you own juice or at least buy it in bulk which will save you a ton of money.

I'm by far no expert in all this stuff - I still consider myself a newbie.
I do think the first thing you have to do is to commit to quitting - if you want to do it - you can -- the e-cigs will really help.

I - like you, have tried to quit a zillion times with NO success at all until now.

If you quit and then slip - it's ok - just hang in there - keep reading here - ask questions - and before you know it, you'll be counting the days since you smoked your last analog.

Good luck to you !!!!

I would suggest getting a 3 piece cig and using e-juice to fill cartridges, dripping is dripping the juice straight down the atomizer and vaping what you have dripped. Initial cost will be more than a carton of cigarettes, but the supplies you would then own would last longer than the carton would. You have the right mindset to make this work. If you want to quit, the e-cig is the best way many of us have found to put down tobacco. In the long run e-cigs are a fraction of the cost of cigarettes.

Even with my habit of having to have all the new technology and high volt battery mods out there I have spent a little over $2,500.00 in the last 6 months. I also don't have to buy anything for me or my wife for 2 years if I don't want to. At $55.00 a carton, we were each smoking a carton a week, this was $110.00 a week X 52 a year, X 2.5 for the time without tobacco comes to $5,722. So subtracting my cost, even with the "have to have everything" mindset I have, I will save $3,222 So it is a less expensive habit even with all the bells and whistles.

Given what you've said and having shown no consideration on looks, here's what I suggest:

Bartleby
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/video-reviews/43943-bartleby-

video:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/video-reviews/43943-bartleby-pv-review.html

Order a 510 model. Email Jay and see if he has the 6 foot usb cables in - if so get two -one for the home and one for the car. If not get them at amazon usb to mini.
Amazon.com: Cables To Go - 27005 - 2M USB 2.0 A/Mini-B Cable (Black): Electronics

You'll need some atomizers and cartridges and adapters:

atomizers:
Three Joye 510 Spare Atomizers

Cartridges - specify flat tips in the comments at checkout.
Joye 510 cartridges

Adapters - get the top 2 - one for wall, one for car -1000ma.
Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.

You'll also need juice:
some higher nic VG to add for vapor and more nic if you need it:
ECOpure juice

Marlboro/menthol - chose 2 'high voltage' that's more flavor at 12mg nicotine - use the VG to add a drop or two to top off this juice:
30ML Threesome Liquids - Assorted Liquids - NHaler

Choose - HV Nuport, HV Super Menthol, and either Marlboro or USA tobacco Mint. You can use the Super menthol to mix with the Marlboro. And while you're there, highly suggest getting other flavors in the sampler size:

HIGH VOLTAGE SAMPLERS 12Mg 6ml Plastic Dropper Bottles

This will get you a great start. And may be all you need except more attys and juice.

But if you want to try cartomizers - even for refilling get the 510 to carto adapter at either heaven gifts or altsmoke. And some blank cartomizers at heaven gifts if you go that way.

You sound like a good candidate for a 510 or a mod of some type, since you aren't bothered by the idea of dripping and you don't want cartridges. I know that the 510 users often complain about having to replace atomizers, so take that into consideration. Actually, the 510 batteries aren't great either. Maybe you should check out the mods.

You will need to try out different e-juices to see which one(s) you like best. Once you do, find a good supplier and order in bulk. You really shouldn't have to pay more than ~.50-.60 per ml. All in, including replacement parts, you should end up spending only about half as much if you really want to save money.

I would urge you to do some research here on ECF before you buy anything. I have the Vapor King from Vapor4Life and I love it because it's easy, the taste and throat hit are top-notch, they have a huge variety of flavors to choose from in different nicotine levels, and they have terrific customer service. I am not a menthol lover, but know that their proprietary menthol carts and juices get rave reviews. The cartos are easily refillable multiple times, which cuts down on the average cost of vaping. They aren't as good as some other models in the vapor department - but they have just introduced cartos made with VG that produce more vapor, so you should check it out.

Oh, and welcome!

I too am new to this site an VERY interested. I want to get as well informed as I can before I give it a try. I want to get the most bang for my buck. Before finding this site I got at least 2 different e-mails offering "free trial" ($9.95 shipping) they were from smoke star and smart smoker, does anyone have any comments about this? Also, would like to know from Kent how much all that stuff he said to buy would cost? I do believe that this is a good answer for me also.
Please keep me posted on your quest.

Based on what I've read on here about these "free trials" you should stay away from them.

Bartleby $50 Shipping @$5
Charging cables $2.50x2 (only to have one in the car all the time - otherwise you could get by with one of course. But like in the original post make sure he has the 6ft ones. Otherwise amazon.com for a penny - but they'll get you on shipping anyway.)

Cignot:
3 attys - $25 (you could get these for $7 at madvapes but this is for the ecopure sold at cignot for the clouds that really help when starting out ;-) ... the usb wall and car plugs can be gotten cheaper too but these I know are 1amp plugs and if you get all here - free shipping).
3 carts ptb flat tip - $5 (this is with the teabag mod - you could likely get 5 regular carts for the same price if you ask Vicky/Terri. )
usb wall - $5
usb car - $5
Ecopure 15ml 25mg - $15
Ecopure 5ml 0mg - $5 (adding this to get you over $59 for free shipping, plus you can blend to lower the 25mg if it's too much ;-)

Nhaler:
3-30ml HV for $43 (this was because he was a marlboro menthol smoker) so you could just go with this last instead - which I also recommended to him:

HV samplers at $4 a piece.

So $120 without the Nhaler juice. You have 2 virtually all day batteries, a virtual PT for home and car, no need for a PCC, you don't have to sell or complain about your 510 regular batts ;-) you have three attys and carts and Ecopure to last a week and if you get the Nhaler ejuice enough to last a few months.

The Bartleby could be the best deal in ecigs. What other mod is there other than the Janty/Joye stick - where the PT/charging cord comes with the mod? And where you don't have to pay $30+ for it? And compare the batts for the Bart vs. the JS or the 'eGO'. I have 5 Janty Sticks and the peak voltage (or the longevity) on the 10440 doesn't compare to the 14500. I like the JS for other reasons but not for the battery power. There's a big difference in vapor and the peak V on the Bart lasts for hours not minutes.

And, this is only for those that can skip the 510 starter kit and mega battery steps on the way to a mod. You might want a 5volt or a nice metal Protege, Chuck, BB, SB, GG, SOB, etc. later but the Bart will serve your needs now ... as long as you aren't hung up on a cig or tube looking PV. Although ergonoically I prefer the box mod and cybervex did it right - I wish madvapes would include the superior switch he's using in their lineup. The on/off switch is another plus that many mods don't have, which you will appreciate for carrying.

... and it's small and not that bad looking:

I DRIVE A HONDA TOO!!! And I own an M401. It's given me issues, but I think it's from noob error, lol. It's vaping very well now and the flavor is phenominal. One of the things that I like most about the M401 is the omitting of the "primer puff" and what I mean by that is that you can just pick it up and puff once, then get vapor and throat hit. I suggest that you go to LitecigUSA and check out their products and go from there. Shawn at LiteCig is cheaper than ECIG - TrueSmoker: M401 Dragon, but I love TrueSmoker as well.

Hope this helps a bit and good luck! :D
