Hey Allen,
I got the rest of my order today, Saturday. That Pila is all it's cracked up to be and more! The WF-139 is a fine charger in it's own right also. The WF-139 will be my back-up. All the AW batteries I ordered look really well made and, of the ones I've charged, came off the Pila at the same voltage. I couldn't be more pleased. Thank you.

Angler; You sound really happy. I hope you put all your new "stuff" to good use! ALLEN

The pila charger does not trickle charge after completing charge..even though it says it does, it would be dangerous if it didnt stop charging. All our chargers cut off at full charge. to not do so would be extremely dangerous. No one knows why pila says it has a stage 4 trickle charge but testing at CPF shows that it stops charging when the light goes green, this is a very good thing actually. What makes pila better is the fast charge, lower voltage cutoff, and proper charging methods that give a cell more cycles of life. The WF 139 does a fine job as well but wont give as many cycles on lico cells especially, but its not a big difference on IMR cells.
***
For IMR cells I prefer the WF139 as it gives a higher ending voltage, and thats more capacity on little 18350 or 16340 IMR cells. IMR has 1/3rd less capacity than equivalent sized black protected AW LiCo cells So I like to top them off. When charging AW protected LiCo cells or unprotected LiCo, I use the PiLa.

I just saw this post. My AW IMR 18650's always meter at 4.20 volts when charged by my Pila.

Is the WF139 charging IMR batteries higher than 4.20 volts? If so, is that safe?

from post 1

IMR USERS: Attention : These IMR cells have much lower internal resistance than regular LiIon 3.7V cells and they may end up with a higher ending voltage when charged in certain chargers ( especially older version WF-139 charger ). Please check the voltage of them right out of the charger to see if they are above 4.20V when fully charged with your charger. Overcharging above 4.25V may shorten life/cycles. Above 4.50V may even pop them or making them leak. DO NOT use the charger if it seems to overcharge IMR cells.

4.20 volts is perfect. A fully charged IMR cell. Your WF139 should also stop below 4.25 volts.

Yes, I read the original post.

I'll ask straight forward: Exactly why is the WF139 better than the Pila for IMR batteries? I'm honestly not trying to be argumentative here. I'm still learning about all this stuff.

Can I please get a stock check on the following for my freshly shipped Reo Grand:

2x (Red Lablel) AW IMR 18650 - $20
1x Pila Charger - $45

I'd like to order ASAP if stock is confirmed. :)

Also, I was quoted $8 for Canada shipping uninsured, but I was originally going to get a regular charger. I think I want the Pila now though, would $8 still cover it? Should I have it insured now that the order is more costly? If so, please quote price. :)

Thanks Wonderlite!! :)
