Hi Andrew and welcome to ECF!

As Thomas said, if they are not fakes, then you should be fine.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

+1 on your concerned about battery safety and your builds. Here are some links for you on batteries safety, Ohm's Law & amps (CDR) that anyone who is building should read and understand. Once you do, you won't need to ask if you build is safe for the batteries you are using. You will know.:)

I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. Baditudes Blogs.

batteries

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

17. Purple Efest Batteries not as Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

I hate to hear this about the efest batteries. My local B&M only sells efest (and they say they are the best). Everyone else says go with Sony. The problem is, the B&M folks say that they stopped selling Sony's because they were re-wrapped Panasonic's. Can you still find authentic Sony's......and if not, what is the next best thing? I'm currently looking at the IPV 150w and the Siegelei 150w. ....Thanks in advance.

I would go the Samsung 25r. They are good to a .3 ohm build yielding only 14 amps draw on a 20 amp rated continuous draw battery. and likewise +1 Read up on battery safety E-Cigarette Forum - Baditude - Blogs Lots of good info there. The VCT 4's do not last as long as the 25r but are rated at a higher continuous draw.

I just built my first coil it came out to .7 omg is that safe to run on a 18650 Sony vtc 5. Battery

first coil?
omg?

By the sounds of it: No.

What gauge are you using
and what mod are you using to power it.

If it's a regulated mod, then you're good.
If it's a mech, then why would you build your FIRST COIL on a mech and THEN ask about safety?
