so...can these new "deluxe" CE2's be disassembled and cleaned just like the old ones? I was about to place an order I'm not sure whether to try the new CE2's or the CE3's. What would one suggest? I loved the way the old CE2's hit they just leaked like a mother.

I've never used a CE3 but it should provide a cooler vape due to the coil being on bottom as opposed to being on top in the CE2. If you like the way the CE2s hit I'd probably stick with em, not much out on the CE3 yet.

I got some in Saturday and yes they can be disassembled and cleaned just like the previous version. The mount on the base fits a little more snug which is a good thing imo. I never had an issue with the previous version leaking until they started cracking which didn't take long. I quickly went to the syringe mod and never looked back.

These tubes are alot like the syringe tube although frosted and available in different colors, fyi the smokey is very dark, might want to avoid that one as it's a little hard to see inside. The outside diameter is the same as the syringe tube also so the the Riva/Ego cone won't fit over them if that matters to you. There's some other slight changes also but the biggie is the tube, they finally got it right.

Wow I miss a lot when I don't read a thread for a couple days :)

I got mine an am running them through their paces to hopefully get a review out soon. I will say what someone else mentioned, I definitely got some burning going on at 5v, and I was using an 80% PG juice. Granted I'm a heavy vaper, but these seemed to be happiest around 4v and did alright on an eGo as well. Right now I think I'm trying to decide if the performance makes it worth the pain in the .... that filling them involves.

right on. i def don't want cooler vapor i'm a nice and warm kind of guy.

Get the newer versions of the CE2's dude, you don't want these. If you like nice thick vapour, a warm hit and something you can actually move half an inch without it loosing juice everywhere then the last thing you want is a smokeymizer. Easily the most disappointing things I've used since the 510 tank I tried. Got 2 boxes of these I think I'll whack em up for trade. I can tell I've really sold them after that!

I guess I have two questions for the CE3

- Can I run these at 6V on my Prodigy V2? Maybe with the higher resistance ones?

- Nobody mentioned the amount of juice they hold. Is it a decent tank size?

Thanking you in advance,

I think someone on this thread said they were doing higher voltages. I got burn at 5v, and mine metered in at 2.9v (even though I ordered the 2.4). They seem happiest between 3.7 and a little under 4.5 to me.

If anyone's interested I did a full review here: CE3 Smokymizer cartomizer - Impressions

Thanks guys! Seems like a bad fit for a 6v device.

The ones I have ohm out at about 2.9 also.

If I push them past 4.6 or 4.7 volts, they can't wick fast enough so they start to burn juice. At 6 volts I’m sure they will taste like a Marshmallow that has been in the fire too long.

hey,

i've been vaping on mine about 10 days now, i do really like them.

they do get some liquid in the catch cup- i would say about .3-.5ml after vaping an entire cart.
they pretty much rock on my ego.
the one that i have used every day for 10 days now is starting to get a little burnt tasting (hit or miss) but i used it for 10 day, so its probably got some build up (I've probably vaped about 15 mls of 60/40 juice through it)

i thought about cleaning it but i would not do it the way the directions suggested, getting that unthread wick back in that hole will be nearly in possible.

Any one else try to clean these yet?

the vapor is a little cooler than the ce2's but i believe this can be fixed by vaping a lower ohm ce3, if available

i will mention one more thing ( I'm sure ktaylor got the same email form our local vendor)
when filling them be sure to plug up the vent holes with the supplied cart condom, if not they will create a vacuum and spew out all your juice. after its filled replace the black plug and remove the condom, and you should be set.

Just tried my first ce3....have to admit the ce2 really disappointed me, but these are awesome. I filled it the first time with a liquid that was too high*in nicotine*, had no leaking or anything, just the nic gum taste of the juice (bc the nic was too high). Then i emptied it with a syringe, and put a diff juice in. To my sadness it leaked BAD....then realized it was because I didn't put the little rubber thingie back in :) Totally love it, plus you can see exactly how much juice you have opposed to the polyfil ones

I had the same thing happen with the stopper. At first I was all heartbroken thinking yet another bottom coil clearo that didn't meet the hype. Then I noticed the stopper sitting on my desk. Physics is good :)

Thank you so much, Ozpkchris, for mentioning the use of the condom and leakage control. I rec'd a box of CE3's today, eagerly read the directions (which made no mention about using the condom, btw), filled one and instantly had a puddle of juice on my work table and my hands were covered as well (glad it was very, very low mg/ml juice). My hands were too slick to turn on the faucet due to the juice on them. My wife had a good laugh over that as I begged her to turn the water on. I'd swear you could use juice as motor oil...... it seems slicker than oil.....lol. What a mess. I was so darn frustrated.
I tried the method you laid out this evening and no problems at all. The little black plug did give me some problems using those high quality tweezers included until I stole one of my wife's sewing needles. I then found I could put the pin in the plug at an angle to pry it out and to replace it, I put the pin in the top of the plug to hold it steady and get it started in the hole and finally used the end of a dental pick to push it the rest of the way down -- very carefully.
For me the jury is still out on this new carto. I really wish RS would have mentioned the leakage when filling issue, but what the heck, it's always good to learn something every day. I'll give them some time, but I'm about half the way through one now and starting to get a burnt taste. Hmmmmmm.......

Just got mine today and yes, had the same thought.. "OMG! These things leak more than my bathroom tap!" but of course that was with the little rubber bung out. It took me a long time to get that little bung in. By the time I got the bung in, half of the juice in the tank was on my desk.. meaning I'm going to have to refill it again a lot sooner than I would have liked. I actually lost the first rubber bung because as I was gripping it with the tweezers, it flung off into nowhere. Luckily they supply you with a spare in the driptip package. Finally I got it in...

Vaping it, it is definitely better than CE2 but not as good as a Smoktech DC in terms of flavour and vapour. I am hoping that it just needs time to break in like atties do and that things will improve.

At this stage I am not a fan.. the rubber bung thing is the most annoyance I've had with ecigs since I first began using them and the performance is not as good as I would have expected from an "improved" cartomiser. They need to do something better in regards to the bung..

So I found a little trick for making life with the bung (I feel like Bevis when I say "bung") easier. Rather than tweezers, grab a pin of some sort (like a safety pin) Stick it into the top of the bung and push it in a little. Not too far, you don't want to run it all the way through. Now pull the bung out, it should stay on the pin. To reinsert, keep it on the pin and then twist the pin until it works out of the bung.

I might try that next time I need to refill.. which won't be long, considering how much I lost trying to replace the bung. Still.. it makes me wonder about the design process they went through with this and how much they thought about the rubber bung. It's easy to take it out, yes.. but getting it back in "quickly" is the problem.

I read a tip somewhere, maybe this thread? If you have the silicone condom from another cartomizer, stick it on the battery connector end of your CE3, that should slow down the leaking. If you don't have one handy, what I do is hold it as close to horizontal as possible when filling to minimize the leaking.

I completely hate that bung design too. You'd think the CE3 would have gotten easier, not harder to fill than the CE2.

I tried the pin thing.. works really good.. though you have to use something to hold the bung in while pulling out the pin.. still much easier than trying to put it in with the tweezers.

Edit: So been vaping this for most of the day now and I am thoroughly UNimpressed. The more I vape it, the more I notice how lacking in flavour it is (this is with a mix of 3 parts doubler and 1 part niquid.. so it should be over the top flavour really).. the vapour production is barely adequate and the vapour is of course very cool as well. I have the 2.8-3.1ohm variety on a VV and no matter how much I have rotated my VV dial, I can't find a good voltage for it to give a good vape. It's a shame really because these had so much more potential, than the CE2s, to be really good.. but again RS have failed to deliver. Back to the Liquinator and Smoktech Cartomisers.

I just tried the CE3. I went back to JOYE 510 cartos in less than two days. The CE3 did not produce enough heat when using a standard 510 batt. My ecig was too long for my liking when using the drip tip and a megabatt. The rubber mouth cap does not protect my tongue from the unfinished sharp edges of the carto body. In fact, the mouth cap has raised lettering on it that I'm sure my tongue won't like. The tweezers and syringe needle that came with the CE3 5-pack were useless.

My CE3's did not leak as long as the rubber stopper was plugged in. When I had the stopper out, CE3 didn't just leak, it slowly drained. So fills were just as messy as fills with my 510 cartos. I prefer filling my 510 carto over the filling the CE3.

To me there is nothing like the smooth tapered body and smooth rounded mouthcap of the geniune JOYE 510 carto. And the white color is translucent so there is no guesswork when filling.

HTH,
Dave
