new coil getting dry hits

I just changed my coil ( disposable ) it's 0.5ohms to a new one and I prepped it I stuck juice on the sides where it wicks and also in the middle . when I vape it however I get some really super dry hits. it's 100 VG 6mg nic but when I take hits it is coming out less vapor, super strong throat hit. air flow is to the max.

why is that? is it because I didn't let it wick up long enough or simply because it's new coil?

PS- I just tried it now ( maybe 10minutes later, everything seems okay ) never had this happen before. I've also never primed my coils before either I keep forgetting

I think you didn't prime it enough. When I prime mine i put plenty of liquid on the cotton then let it soak standing vertical for ten minutes . Then start off with low wattage for a few vapes. Never had a dry hit doing that .

100% VG with any factory type coil is asking a lot. I'd make sure that thing is super saturated before I hit it the first time. maybe even soak the coil in a small amount of juice over night and dry it off before you install it.

Also, for me anyway, giving the mod a few dry draws before firing the coil often gets the wicks where you want them...

I saturated it pretty nice imo but I think It was because I just started vaping it before letting it sit a little to wick more

After saturating the new coil, install, then take dry pulls so you can draw more liquid into unsaturated areas of that new coil.

I assume you are talking about the Sub Tank Mini. With the OCC coils you will really struggle to get it to wick fast enough at higher wattages with 100% VG, try 70/30 VG/PG

If your getting fry hits you also want to turn the air flow down rather than up.

it is fine now but the first few hits were pretty damn dry. tank is almost gone will probably switch it back to PG based juices and save this for the 1-2ohm coils i have.

Another option with 100% VG in those Kanger heads is use a pin or needle to bore holes into the cotton on the juice inlets to improve juice flow a bit. The Kangers are designed for 20PG/80VG 30PG/70VG max really.

by heads you mean the tanks or coils? i have an aspire triton not sure if those coils will fit in this atty. i am actually looking to buy an RDA this friday online though but probably won't get it going for another 2 weeks :/ unless i can find a way to buy wire and cotton dirt cheap online/in store.
