ScubaQu Setup As good as (perhaps better than) Standard Genesis
This is a very easy set-up. Its still in an early prototype form, but it working very well. Using the set up below, I was able to repeat similar performance in three different attys. It is only a slight variation from the original ScubaQu. I have not seen this version posted yet, so hopefully I didnt miss it, if it was posted. The change is to use a hollow wick with a couple of tweaks. (sorta was an obvious alternative
.)
This makes sense now after plowing through a half dozen different SquabaQu approaches and seeing what they do well and what they do not do well. I believe the issue is vapor pressure and a condensation effect. Essentially, the solid wick ScubaQU produces its vapor at a much higher pressure and that based up the capability of the venturi (Bernoulli) effect of the genny atty it is too great to overcome. Swirling and mixing with different airhole positions, inlets, deflectors, etc. helped but did not fix the issue (at least for me).
Basically, when flow is pull through the drip tip, pressure drops and condensation forms. The increased pressure drop further accelerates condensation. So, it makes sense that people are seeing good vapor production with the cap off and then, minimal to okay vape, when they put the cap on and vape. With the hollow wick, vapor can be produced at lower pressure, much more inline with coil-on-mesh. I can get monster vapes now.
Enough science, this setup rocks. Grab your glass tube, roll a wick, coil some wire. This is so straight forward, its ridiculous. Just a few key techniques make the difference.
Here is how I set mine up:
Materials:
Glass Tube- 3MM OD (2.2 ID) X 9.5MM length
SS Mesh #500 15mm X 40mm long
32g Kanthal A-1 5/6 wrap for 2.6ohms
Wick Prep:
1) Roll mesh tight around a large straightened paperclip and form an even tube
2) Insert a toothpick in one open end of wick
3) Slowly increase the inner diameter of wick to approx. the inner diameter of the glass. Increase diameter of the wick only for the length of glass (You should have a very thin end and large opened end)
4) Thread smaller thinner end of wick into tube
5) Test for snug fit of larger end of wick in the glass tube. Pull out and increase the mesh hole size with toothpick if needed. (The mesh needs a positive outward springy pressure on the glass tube)
6) Align the end of the wick even with the top end of the glass tube
Coil Prep:
1) Use 3mm drill bit
2) Form a coil with Petar K method drill-bit
3) Insert the wick and tube assembly
4) Position coils evenly and as high as possible on tube
5) Gently tighten coil in place
6) Pulse gently and tweak to even out coil glow
Then: Fill, prime wick with juice Vape.
This should work in any standard genny atty. (Worked for me in Cobra/Chid/AGA-T)
Align the air hole with wick and at wick tip height
When you test vapor production, if the tube is blowing smoke rings, you are there.

You may have a slow startup, you need to get the glass up to temp. At first you will be saying that gdeal is full of ****. Work through it, its worth the wait. If it starts to taste burnt, power down and start the warm up at lower watts. You may need an initial tilt to prime the wick as well.
Start at around 7 watts. The Chid gets really hot and did not need to go that much higher. The AGA and Cobra worked best between 9.5 and 11 watts. YMMV.
If you are not getting good vapor production, check the wick to make sure it did not tighten back up in the tube. If it did, stick the toothpick in to remove and then repeat number 5 in wick prep above to re-expand.
I did notice that as this setup got in its zone, meaning the atty was hot, the juice was flowing and it was hitting peak vapor, I took it down a watt or two and it stayed shining in chain vape heaven. It may also save you from a tank meltdown.
<Anyone that is new here, take caution with glass, things can happen, use quartz if possible. If this doesnt make sense read all of this

Need to run in a couple minutes, back on line tomorrow. Let me know how it works for you.
