I put 150....i never put mine down (unless i'm busy with my hands) so...i guess that was a little high now that i think about it...

2 puffs per min (on average through the day), 20 puffs per 10 mins. 120 puffs an hour. Awake for 14hrs (average) per day. 1680 puffs a day. divided by 15 = 112...huh. guess I over shot.

lol then I way undershot putting 20, I had no idea I pick mine up when I feel the want and take a few vapes then put it down till the next time, I have no set rules about when im going to vape except first thing in the morning and after eating. That is one of those questions that doesnt fit right with reality of whats really being done.

that 10 min period 15 min question was difficult that is not how I vape. I couldnt vape continueous for 10 min.
I did state that at the question where it said to put in comments about the e-cig. And clearified how I vape.
One size fits all questions is something I dont like.

It was a dumb question...the better question would have been how many mils of juice do you vape in a day.. IMHO .... I put 50 to the question as I chain vape ..lol..just like i used to smoke.

Survey completed. Hope I win a free trip to Pennsylvania ;)

It's free? I put 'no' because I live in the UK. I'd have liked an all-expenses paid visit to the USA. :(
That way of measuring how much you vape is impossible to answer. They aren't cigarettes you buy in packs and can work out how many by the number left! I can't work out how much that way, if I new how long it takes me to use a ml I'd have stood a chance, so just guessed. Probably way off.

I totally accept that trying to quantify amount of daily vaping by asking how many times per day they vape, counting a "10 minute period" or "15 puffs" does not fit very well with the way most people vape (we used this question in a prior survey and had some similar comment). Smoking is different in that typically people light a cigarette and take 5-15 puffs over 4-12 minutes, by which time the cigarette is extinguished and we know they smoked "one cigarette". So although we cannot change that question for this survey, I am interested in any suggestions as to how one could quantify daily vaping in a single question, that would then be somewhat comparable to "How many cigarettes do you smoke per day?" or "How many dips/sachets of chew do you use per day" etc. I was assuming that although some just take intermittent puffs throughout the day (in which case they could estimate how many clumps of 15 that would be per day), some also pop outside and have a 10-15 minute "vape break" with their smoking colleagues at work, at the bar, etc and so allowing people to count both at least provides a ballpark estimate that enables comparison with smoking. Im open to suggested wording for future studies (and hope the wording of that one question doesnt put people off completing the survey).

Why not just ask how much juice one goes through in a day? How many ml of juice do you vape in a 24 hour period?

Survey complete.

Hardest question was the would I participate in the study... i'm not that far from state college, but with no car, i had to put no. =(.

Well that..and the maths on how many tiems per day. i broke it down into how many 10 minute periods there are per day, then figured i vape about 4/6 10 minute periods every hour. i probably undershot, because i gave myself credit for sleeping 8 hours a day..and i probably dont. ;)

I don't know what this study is for, but in the UK the government and medicine control body are doing studies to show that e-cigs with nicotine above a certain level are smoking cessation devices (or smoking reduction) and so should be regulated as medicines.
The EU already have a drafy that says that anything higher than 2 mg in 0.5 ml is a medicine for smoking cessation and has to prove it works )and is successful?) as pharma NRT.
That would be the end of vaping as we know it. BAT products, which are going for an MA, only use cigalikes, cartomisers and three flavours, generoic strong tobacco, generic medium tobacco and menthol(ated tobacco?).
Also all studies are flawed because nobody seems capable of getting away from the time taken to smoke a cigarette. They have to use that measure because the only other thing they can compare with is Snus (illegal in the EU outside Sweden, plans to make it so unapppealing in Sweden that people stop using it). All studies based on cigarettes are flawed because one has a beginning and an end, vaping doesn't.

Done. Maybe I'll be taking a trip to PA. I'm otherwise unemployed and therefore unoccupied. They might have to furnish me some gas money though.

Here's the feedback I provided when they asked for any additional input they might wanna know for whatever it's worth:

Include social influence factors: Do tobacco smokers in social setting induce craving for a tobacco cig for e-cig users? How do they act upon these cravings? What social influence have e-cig users had on friends and family?

Have e-cig users noticed physiological differences since quitting tobacco cigarettes? What differences? Improvements or negatives in breathing? Taste? Smell? Sleep? Weight? etc.

Those are what I come up with off the top of my head. Gimme some time and I'll think of a hundred more research factors.

Researchers from Penn State University are conducting an online survey to improve understanding of electronic cigarettes. Electronic cigarette users may complete the survey anonymously, or can provide contact details at the end if interested in participating in a laboratory study of electronic cigarette use. Please click on the link below tocomplete the survey. https://redcap.ctsi.psu.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=v94cbA

I want to encourage everyone to complete this survey, even if late. Research is what
this venue needs in order to get ecigs accepted by the government.
