You can just clean out the carts that came with the kit. Rinse them and the filler in some plain hot water, dry them in a paper towel and you'll be good to go. If you want to buy cartomizers you can do that, too. Personally, I got tired of using carts quickly. It was just too much fuss for me and I fell in love with cartos!

Boge cartomizers are real nice on 510 (you need the standard resistance ones). And get a drip tip for testing juices. I also like to use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece on a cartomizer (not to drip into - juice would aim for the center air channel). Cartomizers are not good for testing juices. Only put juices in cartos that you are willing to vape for the life of the carto.

BTW atomizers usually arrive with primer on them that tastes horrible so if you have that problem still then do this: blow out the atty, drip 3-4 drops of juice on the atomizer bridge and let it soak in, then try to vape that mostly off without inhaling, blow out and again and prime the bridge with juice again.

Leakage - with carts yes - they occasionally dump their juice. Cartos not so much if filled properly, cleaned up and allowed to settle though no matter how careful you are sometimes a carto will leak a bit on the battery (and less often a bit into your mouth if you didn't clean it up as well as you could have). But you were smart and got manual batteries so when juice leaks it will either vape weak or flash and then you clean up the juice in the two sides of the battery connection. Manual 510 batteries are totally sealed metal on the threaded end (hooray). And also wipe off the end of your battery before putting it on a charger to keep from transferring juice residue.

This is how I fill them

Pop out the soft cap with an unbent paperclip in the mouth hole, very careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop.
Shake and open the eliquid
Hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and add 18+ drops per ml of capacity into the stuffing (Boge cartos are about 1ml)
Clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into tissue, puff into threaded end to clear air channel (Boges have a defined center air channel)
Sop up any loose juice above the stuffing
Cap and let it settle - I lay it on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets damp so I won't singe the carto. if you use thicker juice than me then you may need to wait much longer.

Off the bat, here are a couple tricks I use with the 510:

1) Try a drip tip. If you look at where the cartridges 'plug' into the 510, you will notice that the main 'hole' is rectangular. You need to plug this together correctly or else you run the risk of the braided metal touching and melting some of the plastic on these standard carts. This burning plastic is terrible. A drip tip will basically eliminate this effect.

2) I gave up on re-filling cartridges a long time ago. Just pull off whatever mouthpiece you are using, put two drops in your atomizer, and puff. You are trying to drip on the metal bridge so that the juice wicks onto the coil that is being surrounded by the braided metal bridge in the center of the atomizer.

3) If you are getting less than awesome vapor, there are 4 things you can do (in order):
a. Add a drop of juice directly in the atomizer. Two drops if you're sure you're out.
b. Check your batteries. They may need to be charged.
c. Unscrew the atomizer. Hold it over a paper towel. Put your mouth on the end that connects it to the battery and blow in that hold. Juice will probably drip out the business end and onto the paper towel. Put it back together and give a puff.
d. If all else fails, you probably need a new atomizer.

And that's all I can think of at the moment.

I was going off of dormouse's post about cartomizers. Just realized you only have carts ATM.

You fill those just by soaking the filler. I use a blue foam a buddy gave me. I have a hooked end of a safety pin which I submerge the filling into the liquid and pull up and make sure there's no pooling (overfilling)

Just put back the two pieces you took off before, and drip fluid right onto the filling.
