Do you think a thin mylar wrap would really add much integrity to the strength of the veneer over a void like the one on the proto approved by ECF? There's also another issue I just thought of. When I glue the veneers on there is always a fair amount of squeeze out that I have to clean out of the holes that are already there. You know, the necessary ones. This squeeze out would just form a hard epoxy blob inside. Probably block the batteries.

I really can't see it working with this design.

Point taken, as each veneer is custom maybe oversized end caps can be made and then the wood work done on a mandrel and slid with a slight increase in the thickness. The Mylar could act a s a release agent. Just a random idea.
