new ecig user here, just pulled the trigger on a 901 pcc kit

been lurking around doing research for about a week and have become seriously interested in ecigs.

it was a toss up between the 510 and 901 but decided on the dse901. i haven't even received my 901 yet and am already planning on getting the 510 to compare, haha.

i've only tried ecigs twice, once from some random guy on the street who was a salesman for an ecig company (can't remember which) and a couple times off my friend's cheap-o ecig (i think she said she got it at 7-11?). i'm tired of wasting so much money on "analog" cigs and am hoping these will take its place...or at least get me down to half a pack a day.

so today (payday!) i pulled the trigger and bought the following from ecigsupply:
1 black dse901 pcc kit (auto batt w/ orange LED i believe)
1 matte black manual batt w/green LED :)
1 red atomizer
10mL of USA blend (almost got flue cured instead)

all for $55 with priority shipping thanks to a coupon code.

next on the list is a 510 manual kit, more juice (mmm...waffles), and a usb passthrough for whichever one i like better.

a couple questions though: does the usb passthrough make a huge difference in the performance of either the manual 510 or manual 901? and does this usb passthrough make it 5V?

Can't say for sure on your model. For my Inferno (think manual 501) I've noticed the atty does tend to burn a little hotter and some of the uber-serious vapers on the Volcano forum say that the PT does raise it to 5v.

Ya gotta let me know how the waffle tastes. When I first started I thought I'd be really into the tobacco flavors (was a marlborough blend 27 smoker for years) but now I really love playing around with lighter flavors and fruity flavors.

Congrats on choosing a healthier means of nicotine intake and healthier way of life!

so i ordered those items from ecigsupply.com on friday afternoon (about 2:15 pst) with priority shipping to CA (i believe ecigsupply is based in AZ?). it was shipped out on monday supposedly and the rep told me on tuesday i should get it in the next couple of days...still not here!

i know it's probably usps's fault, but i'm still kinda disappointed after reading others' reviews about how it got shipped cross country and received it in only two days!

anyways, i hope that the 901 (when i finally get it) will suffice or at least hold me over til i can try out a different ecig. next on the list are 808 wow cartos from vapor4life, usb PT for 808, 510 cartos, 510/901 drip tips, and all the necessary adapters.

i'm determined to get down to half a pack a day (at least!) by the end of the month, but it's hard to even begin to try when my kit hasn't arrived yet!

So sorry to hear you haven't got your e-cig yet :(

The DSE901 is a very good starter kit, however, a starter kit should have 2 batteries IMHO - one to vape with & one to put on charge.

yeah the pcc kit only came with 1 atomizer and auto battery instead of 1-2 atomizers and 2 batteries like in the normal kits so i ordered an extra manual battery and atomizer (1 will be for dripping w/the manual batt, i suppose). i just don't like that i'll have to remove the button every time to charge it.

i hope it gets here before the weekend at least. i'm too broke to be spending more dough on packs of cigs!

Mad Vapes has a good price on some 510 equipment. They also have adapters so you can mix and match if you want. I would advise multiple kits first, then think about a passthrough and maybe a pcc later. For one thing, with kits, you're building up your supply of attys as well. Always great to be able to grab a different atty while you're letting one dry from cleaning or something. Therefore, I would recommend kits for your next two purchases or if you can swing it two kits at once. Then you can just grab a few batts when you're out and about-no pcc needed. You'll also have more than one charger so you can charge more batteries at once if needed. Anyways, welcome to the world of vaping. :vapor: JD 510 Holiday Kit No Box

yeah i get it now. for some reason i thought the batteries played a huge role in the way the atomizer performs. but now it seems to me that it's probably mostly in the way the atomizer itself works. if i had a chance to do it differently i would have just bought an 808 pcc kit (since it can use 901 stuff) and then get the 901 atomizers, 510 atomizers or cartos, adapters for everything, and of course a usb PT (would really be handy in my car during my daily commute through ......ed LA traffic).

if none of the 808 cartos, 510 cartos, or 901/510 atomizers do it for me, i'll probably give up. if it does work out like i hope, then i might have to pick up one of those crazy mods like the reo mini! especially since i can get a gold and black one, lol.

at first i thought i'd want an ecig that looked like a real one but now i think i could care less. apparently the ecigs that look the most like a real cig are the some of the worst performing ones haha. now i just want my cigs to be black with a yellow carto or atomizer. i noticed that vapor4life has yellow 808 wow cartomizers...

a few questions: anyone know where the cheapest manual 808 batteries are? how about a pcc that can fit extended 808 manual batts? or how about the lowest price on a universal usb charger that has the rubber grip for all types of batteries?

that seemed like a lot of typing...but this stuff's become my new obsession and i haven't even received my first kit yet. hah.

anyways, keeping my fingers crossed for my 901 kit to get here before i leave for work this morning!

so i was able to get my tracking number which i should have asked for in the beginning...

punching it into usps.com, i get this:
Sorting Complete, December 10, 2010, 8:29 am, MONROVIA, CA 91016
Arrival at Post Office, December 10, 2010, 8:19 am, MONROVIA, CA 91016
Processed through Sort Facility, December 10, 2010, 2:15 am, SANTA CLARITA, CA 91383
Electronic Shipping Info Received, December 09, 2010
Processed through Sort Facility, December 08, 2010, 9:36 pm, PHOENIX, AZ 85043

it appears that it wasn't all usps's fault. according to the tracking info, it was probably only sent out on the 8th, a full two days after i received the automatic shipping confirmation from ecigsupply.com. the mail hasn't arrived yet this morning, but it looks like it should be out for delivery.

i will be contacting them for at least a refund/credit on my $5 for priority. if i had gone with regular first class mail, my shipping would have been free!

just received my package and SURPRISE! they sent the wrong kit! ...they sent me the regular 901 kit without the pcc. this regular kit is the same price as the pcc kit...but i'd rather have the pcc instead of an extra auto battery i think....time to give them a call. BOOOO!

edit:
they also shipped the wrong liquid. i ordered their USA blend PG liquid but instead got the more expensive Dry Tobac VG liquid. it tastes kinda nasty...but i guess i said the same when i had my first marlboro red nearly 7 years ago (my cig of choice now that lucky strike filters are no longer available in the US).

i've sent chad a pm and will be giving them a call during my break
