Hello and welcome to the forum @Chris harris. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.
Nicotine

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. If you are subohming (resistance under 1.0Ω) cut these nicotine levels by at least 50%.

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

eLiquid/Juice

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick. Often labeled just "Glycerine"

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Many juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.

The kits above are not bad and they pack a punch as they are "subohm" devices.

If you find them too powerful to start a simple "evod starter kit" may be a good place to start.
Plug and play, if the batts are fully charged and there is juice in the tank and the contacts are clean and dry, they just work. And if it doesn't? probably just needs a new coil.
The kit gives you 2 complete set-ups and spare parts, should be enough for a couple months, other than eliquids. Cheers.

Hi, If I were just starting out I would go with the Joyetech eVic-VTC Mini with the Tron tank. I use mine for work. I have used for months now and I use it every day. The reason I bought it is because it was pretty cheap and if it got damaged or lost it would be no big deal. It works really well and coils are dirt cheap.

I would like to quit regular ciggs and try vaping. I would like to get a starter kit to try

If you're still on analogs you need a MTL +Mouth To Lung+ device

For that i would recommend either an istick30 with a Nautilus Mini,

Or a Subtank Mini starter kit.

Kanger switched from horizontal to vertical coils reducing the airflow. Use tge 1.5 ohm coils as they are more restrictive than the others.

The Subtank comes with an RBA so you can experiment with wrapping your own coils.

Either will serve you well but the Subtank Mini starter kit gives you more options.
