We are rising in numbers. I used to hear that 3 million people regularly vaped in the United States. Now, it's up to 9 million. The majority vaped to quit smoking (aside from teenagers who thought it to be cool).

Congress stands ready to squash ecigs to protect tobacco tax revenues to the states. Our only chance for continuance in the long run is to accept a vape tax, sad as it sounds.

New CDC Data: More Than 9 Million Adults Vape Regularly in the United States

Key CDC Survey Findings:

  • About 3.7 percent of adults used e-cigarettes every day or some days;
  • Almost one-half of current cigarette smokers (47.6%) and more than one-half of recent former cigarette smokers (55.4%) had ever tried an e-cigarette;
  • About one in six current cigarette smokers (15.9%) and nearly one in four recent former cigarette smokers (22.0%) currently used e-cigarettes;
  • Fewer than 4 percent of adults who had never smoked conventional cigarettes have ever tried an e-cigarette.

It won't work, i.e. it will never raise the amount of revenue that cigarette taxes did because it's just too easy to avoid.

Agreed, I am trying to recall which "sin tax" has ever raised the revenue projected. But that won't stop the stupid from being stupid whether in or out of government.

The political scare will be to protect the teens. Never mind that a high percentage who turn to smoking if vaping is outlawed will become life members of that class.

Things can always get worse, but I won't spell out the ways because I don't wish to give them any ideas.

Trust me...

When we have the people the FDA/CDC has, and while there is people like Dick Durbin in congress, coming up with a New Way(s) to Screw the e-Cigarette Market is next to Impossible.

All I hope is if this Nominee makes it to the FDA, that he has some Common Sense. And a Spine to use it.

I think the most upsetting thing to me at this point is that we as Americans now are facing us vs. them mentality in every stinking issue in our lives. Be it with the government or other citizens. It is so combative living in the US. My stress and anxiety levels haven't dropped in probably a decade and it is only getting worse.
