So, the title kinda explained it all, so where to go but say Hello!

I've been hanging around this forum for a while, I like what I see and I've based several of my purchases on reviews and recommendations in these threads, and I haven't been let down yet, so I figure I'll become a member for real.

The first time I tried vaping, it was about a year and a half ago. Prefilled cartos, a cig-a-like thing, PCC, the whole nine. The activity of it was great, but lackluster flavor and subpar performance chased me back to analogs (that, and I didn't like the whole prefilled carto thing, but wasn't smart enough to buy my own liquid and cartos. Oh well). I stayed with analogs until the turn of the year, when I made a New Year's Resolution to really get into vaping. Through my wife and sister in law I heard of a vapor shop (brick and mortar, even) that would be more than happy to help me get started. I really wanted to quit analogs but didn't trust myself to give up the habit: the throat hit, the pinch, the smoke/vapor, so vaping appealed to me. Also, I was looking for a way to stop the impairment of my cardiovascular system(the military kinda likes you to stay fit).

One problem: my wife didn't want to quit yet.

So, I explained to her what I was wanting to do, understood that it would be difficult to quit if she was going to be smoking analogs around me, so she went in with me to All About Vapor in Austin, TX. From the first hit from their tester it was great. Right then and there I bought us a starter kit of eGo-C Upgrades and we each got a 30ml bottle of juice. Kinda pricey right up front, but I thought of the money I would be saving. Man, was I wrong. I can't keep away from ordering new flavors now. The sheer variety available to me is astounding. I love it!

But still, the feel of analogs had me for a little. I cut back to no more than 2 analogs a day, but I was still ashamed whenever I would head out to the balcony to light one up. I hated how I smelled like smoke after, food/drink would taste nasty, and I would still cough junk up in the morning.

That ends today. I just spent half my lunch break throwing away all my analogs, and they're in the dumpster wasting away now. I'm in, all in. And it's thanks to you guys.

As a birthday present to myself, I ordered some Smoktech DCTs and a Joyetech eVic. The eVic has yet to arrive, so right now I'm on an eGo Twist, but the DCT is wonderful. I should be able to quit for good from here.

Long post, I know, but I'm just so happy that I was a smoker at 18, ashamed at 21(22 this Friday) and now a remade vaper. Not looking for 100% cessation, but Risk/Harm reduction. I couldn't be happier.

Duff, I have been an analog smoker for almost 30 years. My reasoning for quitting analogs was purely health related. I enjoyed smoking, and didn't want to give up the act of smoking, so e-cigs seemed logical to me. My husband still smokes a few analogs a day, but that is far better than he was doing before at almost two packs a day. Congratulations and enjoy!!

Do you find that your husband smoking analogs... invokes some sore of urge to have one?

Hi neighbor! :)

Also, nice shop they have up there. But they need a bigger place!

You'll slow down. You do a lot of sampling up front and it can seem pricey but compared to what cigs are now? Since that last big tax hike? Ooof!

But you start finding the ones you can vape for hours (the "all day vapes") and will find your routine.

If nothing else, health care is expensive. Better health can save you truckloads o' cash. :)

But still, the feel of analogs had me for a little. I cut back to no more than 2 analogs a day, but I was still ashamed whenever I would head out to the balcony to light one up. I hated how I smelled like smoke after, food/drink would taste nasty, and I would still cough junk up in the morning.

I am firmly against being "ashamed" over "slips". Not everybody quits smoking the very same day they vape. Some do. And that's great. Some take longer. And so what? I took over a month to completely stop. I still stopped.

I mean, I slowed way, way down immediately. Like from as much as two packs a day to three to six cigs a day. Around 90% drop. Something like that. Big, big drop. Then over the next few weeks, slowed gradually down until I just lost interest in cigs entirely.

Part of it is finding those liquids that you really, really like and are so much better tasting than cigs ever can be. Also, as your taste buds recover, cigs will taste really bad. Also, they'll stink. And started to give me a headache if I had one. They became very unpleasant over time. Until one day, I just couldn't imagine wanting one.

I say don't beat yourself up. Changing a habit (and addiction) like smoking can take time for some. The ones who quit the same day? Well, they're lucky. It's great and all but not all of us are so lucky. I told myself so long as the number of cigs was going down, I wouldn't worry. And they were. Then went to zero. There aren't any in the house anymore and I just don't care.

Better yet, this past Sunday, two people lit up right next to me and I didn't care.

Which startled me. I expected at least some of the old "pull". It didn't happen.

...and I would still cough junk up in the morning.

Heh, well, don't be too surprised if that happens while vaping. Not everybody experiences it but when your lungs start trying to clear themselves, some folks start coughing. The cilia that clean the lungs start coming back to life and shoving the gunk out the door. Some folks cough for a while after stopping smoking. It can be a good sign actually.

Only one time have I had a strong urge for an analog, and my husband wasn't around at that time. It doesn't really bother me, because we don't smoke in our house so he will go outside, it's just the smell when he comes back in. We were out with friends last night, and the lady that was with us was smoking analogs, and it didn't get to us to bad. It will get easier as time passes.

Stay off the analogs for a little bit and they will start smelling so bad to you that you won't want one. My wife and her friends smoke. The other night we were all out and they went out to smoke and I went out to vape. I couldn't stand the smell and had to walk away.

As reference, I've only been off analogs for 2 weeks after smoking for 18 years.
