Hello ECF members!
After being a pack a day smoker for many moons, I'm glad to say I've been analog free now for about four months Started off vaping with a couple of different branded cigalikes.(Oddly enough, received several coupons in the mail to try their product for free and didn't know any better. Large companies. You may have heard of them? Ha) They got me off smoking, but the batteries didn't last long enough for me and the vapor/taste left something to be desired. So, I moved on from there to the Halo Triton tank System and have been fairly pleased with that. Have also cut back on my nicotine levels from 24mg to 12mg and hope to go lower. I've been thinking about moving on to a 3rd gen apv/mod but find myself a little daunted with all the different devices and information out there. I haven't made the trip to any local vape stores yet. I'm ready for a step up from the Triton... Any recommendations for what device I should consider next? Or, at least, what I should be looking for in a device? Thanks ECF for all the info so far. I look forward to learning more!

You definitely can't go wrong with a Nautilus full size / mini wit the BVC coils and a good VV/VW mod. I know a lot of people like the Itaste MVP 2.0 or the Eleaf Istick, I haven't had either of these but see people recommend them a lot.

    And welcome to ECF! :vapor:

What Reign said!!!! There are an awful lot of mods out there, and everyone has a favorite. Read up on a few and you may be able to decide.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

    +1 on the MVP v2 (I have 4)

    1. Huge (2600 mah) battery
    2. Variable Voltage - Voltage can be adjusted from 3.3 ~ 5.0 in 0.1 volt increments
    3. Variable Wattage - Wattage can be adjusted from 6.0 ~ 11.0 in 0.5 watt increments
    4. Ohms Meter - Reads the resistance of your atomizer
    5. Pass through ability
    6. $40 shipped at many online stores

Pair it with a mini Naulitus with the new BVC's (bottom vertical coils) an you will have a great vape.

The eLeaf iStick is also another possibility. It has not been around as long but is very popular. I have not tried it yet but it's worth considering.

I've have the MVP 2.0 and the iStick. Personally, while it is well built and has a great battery life, I didn't think the MVP was a step up from the vv kanger batteries it was supposed to replace. In fact, I haven't used my MVP since I got my iStick over a month ago. As far as tanks, I love the nautilus, though if you are prone to dropping things, make sure you get the sleeve or maybe opt for the aerotank instead.

The Innokin iTaste MVP 2.0 can be had off eBay for around 35 bucks and its my first adjustable voltage and wattage vaporizer, I was using eGo non-adjustable ones before today and I recommend the Innokin since I couldn't find anything priced as low as it with the same features and overall from my research it seems very nice albeit with a learning curve since it takes time to learn what voltages and wattages to use.

But I like it overall, its definitely the best bang for the buck at the $30-$40 range.

Make sure it has the scratch off sticker and verify the code online to make sure you don't get a counterfeit one as there are sellers hawking clones.

Love the ability to charge other USB devices from it, and passthrough so you can vape while you are recharging it and don't have any downtime. The battery is such a large capacity at 2600mAh and it comes with a Tri-connector USB cable with 3 types of connectors to use for either charging it or charging another device from it with an on/off button for the output charging port.

Comes with a decent tank too.

I have both the MVP and the VTR. Both are nice but I would go with the MVP. VTR is very heavy and limits what you can use on it. With the MVP, you can use any clearo or rba you want. You will eventually get into rbas. You are limited to 11watts and 1ohm but unless you want to sub-ohm, this is more than sufficient. With the VTR, you are pretty well limited to something like the aerotank or an iclear 30s. By the way, I am an ex-Texan. Just moved back to Canada after 20 years in the DFW area.

Thanks everyone! I'm definitely gonna look into the MVP 2.0. Sounds like that's a tried and true veteran. The suggestions are much appreciated. I was also checking out the VTR. Anyone familiar with that one? So many choices out there... It's about time to cough up some cash though! I think I'm going to really enjoy ECF.

Indeed, get the old wallet ready! :)

I found a good deal on a VTR + assorted goodies in the classified section. It's a nice device, but I really can't recommend it given what's on the market now, and its price (it's not terribly cheap, nor is it remotely as powerful as many things out there)

Unless... You want a brick of a device that can take a beating. There are others in this class, but most are more expensive.

Its biggest flaw, aside from only being capable of 15 watts, is that the "protection ring" is too small for almost all rebuildable atomizers. You can use them, but then you've lost one factor that makes the VTR unique; the recessed tank. If you plan on always using clearomizers, this won't be as much of an issue (though you'll often be stuck with "mini" versions of things). That said, it's served me well for a few months now.

I know you're not sure what exactly you want out of the upgrade, but what is it about your setup that's lacking? Vapor production, battery life, or just looking for a change of pace?

I'm in the same boat, upgrading from a Halo Triton. Thanks to all the advice on here and countless hours of researching online I've got an eleaf istick and nautilus reg and mini tanks with BVC coils on the way :) I know the istick isn't as 'tried and true' but I love the smaller size, almost as good battery and higher wattage compared to the MVP2 :) I'll report back here when the vape mail arrives!

I have to agree with the MVP 2.0. I just got one and for 40 some bucks you cannot beat it. It does everything I need it to, gives me the adjustability that I want, and the price was perfect. Battery life lasts forever, can be used as a pass thru, adjustable wattage and voltage. Im also liking the tank that came on mine, the iClear 30. Its not a nautilus mini, but it has a nice draw to it, and I love the swivel drip tip
