No....it has cod liver oil and extra vit A on top of that.....one of the vitamins that these dogs don't tolerate well.....too hard on the kidneys to get rid of the excess. And the added Phosphorus is also a no no in kidney pets.
If it were just the Phos.....I could deal with that with some extra binder, but the Vit A is too risky for toxicity
But....I will keep that link for future reference if I have any other kinda issues with any of my other fur babies
{{{{{Huggles}}}}} Thank you.
I will say, that I do have a wonderful vet. She is supportive in anything I want to do...except the diet area....but only cause she doesn't know enough about it. She is honest about that fact though.....she only knows what limited info they were given.
Sorry I've missed this. So sorry your baby is having these issues.
Have you tried scrambled eggs or unflavored yogurt? (Assuming they aren't on the no-no list). They are nutritionally dense, relatively easily digested, and tend to be well tolerated and liked even by sick pets. And the yogurt can be syinge fed with a monojet and tends to relieve some of the gastrointestinal effects of illness and ill nutrition.

Thank you
yea...he did really good on the eggs for a while....now, he won't touch them....at least hadn't for some time. And honestly, I wish he would...they are the best source of protein for him (highly digestible and the whites have very very little phosphorus). The yogurt, he can have in limited quantity because of the phosphorus.I may try the eggs again, he may eat them THIS week
Thank you

His kidney's are failing
Stage 4
Thank You, hon. *muah*
Hardest part is that it was found by accident (bloodwork for a surgery)....but as soon as it was found and they had me give him that crappy food, it all went downhill from there. Struggling to get him to eat anything now.
A teaspoon of butter makes the medicine go down
And if phosphorus is an issue, you might try cream cheese. When Hera won't eat anything else she will usually go nuts on cream cheese. Granted it is mostly fat, but still it is calories.
ETA-Also, have you tried lamb? It is pricy but might tempt the palate (Hera the notoriously picky eater will sometimes eat it) and looking it up, it is lower phosphorous.
And, have you ever seen this website?
Find foods by nutrient - NutritionData.com
It makes it really easy to search for foods highest and LOWEST in nutrients using multiple variables.
SO, high protein low phospherous and vitamin A:
Turkey (young hen)
Diet mayonaise
Blood Suasage
Pork BackFat
Weird things will pop up you wouldn't possibly want to include (like meatless chicken??? ...), but it may give you some ideas.
And yea...never thought about Mayo

I lost two this way and have another one in the same boat.
I think it's something in the dog food!???
{{{{{Keela}}}}} Ginger, our small Min-Pin stopped eating completely and we thought we were going to loose her....came really close to taking her to work for the last time.
The DR. put her on.....Gotta go get a can, B right back.....OK, got it.....it's Royal Canin RENAL LP and she loves it and wants more after every feeding.
Have you tried it yet?
With the Slippery Elm, he has not thrown up once.
