by your logic dr g you would need 4 18650s for this mod to be safe?. 2 sets of 18650s in series then parellel, since most 18650's are only rated at 10 amps.wonder how big that would be? Any less would be under rated and therefore unsafe, just making sure this is what you are implying

2 would be sufficient, assuming you pick good ones. AW 1600 18650s of course would handle this with aplomb (10C/16A), as would a number of Samsungs, but 10A continuous batteries would likely be okay as well, or at least less of a travesty, since the great majority of the performance envelope would be below continous max.

Remember now, we're not talking about a small exceeding with the 18350s, we're talking about more than doubling the max continuous rating. That would be like pushing more than 20 amps through a 10a cell.

And this is just with regards to safety. Performance is another can of worms and the difference there is chasmic.

Hey, I'm not sure we can do car analogies here, it isn't Slashdot guys.

For myself, regular use has come to mean the same thing all the time but with stability. For a long time I've stayed at 2ml of 24mg a day, and for over a year I've given up on VV/VW for a regulated 4.4v and just some fluctuation in coil ohms, 2-2.6. On some occasions I'll do a mechanical smaller mod with some lower ohm 28G, but still above 1.5 ohms. Probably sounds strange to most other peeps....

For me, 50W seems insanely high, but that is just me.

It may seem insane to you but it is done with fair regularity by many vapers, and indeed it -- and even higher -- would be the point of having this particular converter in a mod.

I may not make better mods, but I do make them safer. IMO any mod that draws more than 10 amps, should not even be allowed on this forum. Your mod at that amp draw on two 18350's is like taking unstable nitro glycerin and shaking it to see what happens. I do not know your background or knowledge of lipo batteries but I have seen many explode in my RC hobby and it is not pretty. Any mod like this should at least include in large red letters...Danger Explosive. :toast:

I don't know if they should be disallowed; I think high amp, regulated vaping is a future growth area and it's generally better than high amp, unregulated vaping. But an underspecced/overdriven situation should certainly be identified and called out.

Yep, it's all in the amps.

Actually it's all about the proper mix of volts/watts/amps/wire temp/wick/coil/atty/etc/etc to produce the best vape for an individual.

No offense to you Jimi but your setup is way to inefficient for my liking, especially with low mah capacity batteries. I vape a lot in a day and would probably go thru several batteries and a lot more juice. I have a 6000mah 65c lipo that would be better suited for the application, but it still seems like a lot power to be used.

However I will stand by that it seems to work for you, and that I have not tried it...so it may blow my socks off and love it.

hate to bump this since it seems so many people dislike high power vaping but im interested in rigging this up for my first set up i was first looking at the PTR08100WVD an Ork t/10 5 pin lay outs but this board has specs im leaning towards but it's pin lay out confuses me, looking at the data sheets how do i determine where to solder the wire if some one can make me a wiring schematic for this board or explain the wiring id appreciate it alot
