So I've been vaping now for 2 weeks officially. I'm a researcher/study kind of guy and I went into my local vape store (franchised one) and after 3 hours I came out with my first setup.

Aspire Zelos Mod
Aspire Nautilus 2

For a good taste and straight MTL this is that efficient setup.

I work at Amazon and over the years I've had to option to sample God knows how many setups. I can go on break and 30 people with their tanks. Sadly 99% is all direct to lung and not really any mouth to lung guys.

I made a bad choice and chose 12% nicotine which is giving me some harshness and since I bought 3 bottles of AVAIL e juice I just dialed down the wattage to 10-11 Watts on the 1.7 ohm coils. I found that the sub ohm coil it came with and the higher nicotine was just flat out way way to harsh for my liking.

My personal review of the Zelos and Nautilus 2. Very battery friendly. I'm on 3 days now and still haven't charged the battery. This is using about 2ml or so a day. Been working alot.

With lower nicotine content this can be a low wattage direct to lung setup with airflow all the way open. Quiet machine I might add.

I'm looking for more options on this mod or different coils. Seems I'm not 100% happy, I have quit smoking and cravings are gone as I use the vape like a cig. Cravings are gone. I don't know if I should try another tank like the Triton 2 or get a lower 3-6% nicotine liquid and go back to the subohm coil and try direct to lung again. I dont want to get into rebuildable coils yet. I know the Zelos is new. Looking for a tank that won't push past 40 Watts. Still want to keep it efficient and have amazing taste.

The Nautilus coils come in different ohms. Try the 1.8 ohm coils. If you like the nautilus 2, the original is a 5mil tank. I prefer a bigger tank at home, but the naut 2 is nice for out and about.

You can dilute your liquid with some 0mg. You could also just get some Glycerine at Walmart or CVS and add a little (would also lessen the flavor.

Glycerine is near the pharmacy around the isopropyl alcohol...6oz less than $4.

Not wishing to be 'short', 12mg at 10-12 watts with a 1.7ohm coil MTL is exactly on the money for most folk imo.
It shouldn't be harsh and if you are only using 2ml a day, that's not much Nicotine. Since you haven't told us much about your smoking it's hard to advise. It's early days for you; I suspect you just need to acclimatize to vaping. Dropping to a lower strength could be a gamble but obviously if you doubled your power (DL Subohm) you could halve your strength. Cubis (Cubis Pro) with 0.6ohm works superbly well in the 20-22 watt range. The other coil options are total junk and are more disappointing than almost anything of a similar 'cup' design.
Zelos is just a battery/mod so you can use anything on it. The only Aspire tank I currently use is the EVO and I threw the Aspire 0.5 away in under 24 hours. The 0.4 was much better but I use Eleaf EC heads now. 35% of the price (from China) and easy to source. I haven't bought Aspire coils on the domestic market for over 3 years. Not at those prices. Aspire is too expensive in the UK. Maybe they're not so greedy in the US.

I'll have to second @djsvapour on important thing. You found something that's gotten you off cigs for two weeks already. Congrats on that. I would concentrate on that rather than start changing things up this soon. It took quite some time of just the same day in day out and not smoking before I started experimenting with other gear. The one thing you do not want to have happen is some gear that sin't working right for you, get fed up, and pick up a cigarette again.

I'll just pop in to say that 12mg is harsh for me, and I vape at 1-1.8 ohms, 9-15 watts (in other words, totally not sub-ohming). I usually vape 3mg nic liquid, and don't have a problem with 6mg, or even 9 is okay, but at 12 I can't enjoy it; it just hurts my throat and doesn't taste great. I know this isn't very typical, but wanted to let you know you're not the only one, if it turns out 12 doesn't feel right even at higher ohms/lower temp.

Welcome and glad you joined.
Might like to stay with non sub ohm and give it a good try. 1.5-2.0 ohm coils should be a lot cheaper in the long run. I have been (am currently) that range for years.
In General higher ohm coils/lower wattage (generally MTL) vaping will:
Heat the coil slower, which may produce “less” vapor depending on the timed length of draw
Provide A “cooler” tasting vape, which can produce more flavor
May use less E-Juice (<$ less money)
Prolong battery life (<$)
Prolong coil life (<$)
Prolong wick life (<$)
May result in less PV maintenance/Issues
Less irritation to non vapers
Aids stealth vaping
May be better in the long run healthwise (<$)
I have heard good comments about:
The Tron-S, with the CLR coils, the EHpro Kayfun Lite V2, Kayfun V5, and the Subtank Mini with the RBA

12mg is ok at 13 watts but not friendly at subohm levels and high wattages. my question is what is your mix ratio pg/vg? Because high MG nic and high pg value could be the source of your harshness. my buddy vapes 12MG but has his juices made at 20/80 VG so at 20 to 30 watts it is still not that drastic of a throat hit. I personally quit using a protank2 at 15 watts with a 1.5 ohm coil and 18mg strength 30/70VG juice so depending on your juice ratio that could be some of the harshness you are experiencing
