Hey all.

Ok so here we go.

I have never smoked in my life. Always saw it as a dirty habit (being a non smoker), but only recently have I decided to look further in the effect of nicotine and how it can benefit me.

I have a stammer and from time to time it can get rather bad to the point of not being able to talk at all. Usually i just get myself all worked up, get all excited and say the same work 10or more times. Not fun when you're trying to have a conversation with someone. A mate suggested that I take up smoking as a joke to try and calm my nerves. Instantly I said no, but I have many mates who have been vaping for a while now so I got talking to them. I did research this quite a bit to understand what it was, but I thought I would give it a go.

So to cut the long story short, I bought my first vape kit consisting of the ego c with the upgraded 1000mah battery (dual voltage) and a few Kanger T3 heads. Decided to go for 8-12mg nic content and near enough instantly I became much calmer and for the first time in a while I was able to talk with minimum stammering. This was rather weird and I simply didn't get it one bit, but it works.

So as it stands, I have been vaping for a month now with my speech improving a lot. With my day job I need to talk to a lot of people in person and on the phone all day, this has made it a lot better and bareable. I do get caught out from time to time where I can feel the stammer kicking in, so a quick vape and all is good again.

Only the other day I decided to upgraded and I just bought myself a zmax 4 telescopic as a long term investment. Also this gives me a chance to play around with the voltage and wattage and see if I can improve on things.

I know some may say if you have never smoked then you should'nt be vaping, but there is a different story for everyone and this was my story. It works for me and I hope to continue.

Ohh I'm Tom by the way. :)

Hello Tom and Welcome to ECF,:)

I glad you have found something that helps you with your stammer, my Father suffers from a heavy stammer when he gets especially nervous, meets new people and sometimes even when talking to people he feels comfortable with. I understand how frustrating and hurtful this can be for a sufferer.

It makes sense that something like vaping would help, only because it distracts you as well as giving you a moment to catch your breath (so to speak). I'm not sure the nicotine plays a significant role in this, have you tried vaping with zero nic to see if it makes a difference? Obviously if you like the effects of nicotine by all accounts continue, I'm just curious.

Thanks for the warm welcome. :)

Glad it's working for you, and at least you can say you didn't waste thousands of dollars on the stinkies! Welcome. :toast:

I don't think I would ever try analogs. The smell actually makes me sick anyway.

I did try 0 nic to see if there was some kind of placebo effect first, but 0 nic didn't make a difference at all.

To be fair it does take around 5-7 pulls to feel the effects but that can last for a few hours. Another strange thing is that I don't feel the need to use it, as in like an addiction. I choose to use it as I know it helps. Not sure if the nicotine dependency will kick in as I have only been vaping for a month. I guess only time will tell.

Welcome & thanks for sharing your story!
I also had never been a smoker.
Well at least not cigarettes.
Smokes cigars since joining the Navy after High School.
Playing athletics taught me that smoking was unhealthy.
Thought good cigars were somehow a better option.
I fell in love with vaping, since starting about a year ago.
Spend too much on new devices and juice samplers.
It's become an amazing hobby.
No matter what my girlfriend may think!

I am happy to hear the vaping is helping your issue. However, I will caution you that nicotene is a powerfully adictting subtances. Please try to use the lowest dosage and the minamum amount to manage your symtoms. I wish I wasn't adicted but I am. Vaping had help me at least break part of the adiction. Good luck

Hi Tom, Welcome to the forums:) I am so happy to hear that vaping has helped your stammering. It's so awesome that you have found something that works. My best friend has a bit of a speech problem at times and to see how it has effected her self esteem and confidence threw out her life I think I have a good idea how you feel. Keep on vaping on and don't be afraid to ask questions here. We are always glad to help each other out.

Wow, your story is amazing! I am glad it it helping you, and I think it was very clever of you to even think of nicotine. So many people would have gone to an anti-anxiety medication/pills, and that may be an option for you if you find that vaping doesn't help. I vape AND take anti-anxiety medication, so I am not trying to put anyone down. If it works, just be aware of the addiction that you will develop (the medications are addicting, too) and discuss everything with your doc. Welcome to the world of vaping. I, too, have spent much money on vaping, but I am happy to do it!
