Hey guys i just joined up and wanted to say hello. I have been smoking cigs for about 12 years and i think im ready to kick them and try one of these e-cigs. I have been reading posts on here for about the past 2hrs and im more confused now than i was before. Dont get me wrong, it seems like there is lots of good info on here its just all greek to me right now. lol Being that this will be my first e-cig purchase, and i dont know anyone personally that uses them i wanted to get you guys opinion on what to get. Im looking for one that closely resembles a regular cig in size (i smoke marlboro lights-the short ones) so something similar to it. Also, what do i need to get with it? chargers? extra parts? What would you guys reccomend for me? Some type of kit? Im sure these questions have been asked more times than you can count as i know because i am an active member on other forums, but thanks for any advice that you can give me.

No - you have to at least go a bit bigger. Something the exact size of a Marlboro would be a supermini with very short battery life and an extremely tiny juice cup that need to be refilled often. if you bought a super-mini then 95% chance you would be buying something better within weeks.

if you want small look at Joye 510 with manual batteries - the manual 510's are totally sealed on the end so they are safe for the popular vaping method "dripping" and safe from leaks from cartomizers (the other most popular vaping method). A 510 comes with atomizer+carts but most people find carts annoying after a while and switch to dripping and cartomizers. Downside - standard 510 is 180mah and for a moderate vaper 100mah is 1 hour of use so figure a standard 510 battery lasts 1 hour for a heavy vaper, 3 for a light vaper. If you are near AC or USB power most of the time then that might be OK. There is also a nice PCC you can get at NoSmokeVA.com for charging on the go

That is the smallest ecig I can recommend and I do vape them (MANUALS!!!) with Boge 510 cartomizers that I fill with eliquid. Filled properly and kept damp, a cartomizer can work well 4-7 days or more. With a carto, the 510 is about 110mm and 9.2mm diameter - so cig length and a bit thicker. Cignot, com has a good price on Joye 510 manual no-box kit. You also need elqiuid. And the nice PCC is at NoSmokeVA.com. Smallest decent ecig there is if you can deal with the short battery life. I actually also carry a charged Riva 510 battery (FAT battery 750mah) so if I screw up charging the small ones I can use the Riva.

If you have no idea what a cartomizer is then go watch the Videos for Newbies in the sticky threads of New Members.

I smoke about a pack a day of "light" cigs right now. I dont mind something a little bigger i just dont want something that looks like a 120 cig. I guess i would want one that has a pretty good battery life as i am in work for about 4 hours at a time where i wont be able to charge it. I will go and check out the videos in the noob section.

For a beginner, I wouldn't recommend anything smaller than an eGo or Riva 510. There must be 1000+ posts on here from new vapers who got a mini PV (personal vaperizer) and ended up spending more money on a second one because the "cigarette sized" ones just can't simulate the inhaled feel of smoking. And as mentioned above, definitely get manual (small button) batteries and not auto batteries. Plus the small battery models only hold a charge for an hour to two hours. The most common nicotine level vaped is 24mg, which most find is needed, at least at first to make the transition. Here is a couple of trusted suppliers that sell Riva's, eGo's and also the newer Go-Go models:

Good Luck

The models I suggested are the size of a slim cigar.

You are asking a lot of an ecig, its not just a tube of tobacco, there is a battery attomizer juice storage, that doesn't happen in a small size and the smaller the size the shorter the battery life. If you want to be able to go 4 hours on a battery you will need a big battery style e-cig, 14mm dia 130mm long, or a mod which can be even larger or a side by side which no longer looks like a cigarette at all.

Cigarettes and e-cigs are two totally different things. If you've got spans of time that are four hours between being able to charge you will probably have to bit the bullet and get a Riva or eGo. After a week you'll be happy you did. They'll last even a heavy vaper 5-6 hours and they are like a smaller cigar in size. Look at my picture i have a Riva in my hand.

Welcome to ECF! It is overwhelming at first. Just remember that no e-cig is written in stone. Try to get a good one with your needed supplies, and if you change your mind later, it's okay. I do not use anything that I originally started with, but my husband has never changed our beginner unit. Fortunately(or unfortunately), there are plenty of choices.
Best wishes!

Yes i am at work for 4 hours at a time, but in that time period i usually only smoke about 3 regular cigs

It's more than just about the length of time a battery holds a charge. Smoking provides warm smoke. To duplicate the "inhaled feel" of smoking, you need the vaper to be warm and be able to duplicate that "feel" of smoking. Small batteries are just not able to do that. Bigger batteries = warmer vaper, more consistently for a longer period of time. A higher nicotine level also contributes to what we call "throat hit" which is a term used to describe the "inhaled feel" of smoking. That's why at a minimum many of us recommend eGo's or Riva's as a "starter" PV. They will hold a charge for about 5 hours.

Just as a comparison point, the PV I use holds a charge under very heavy vaping conditions for 21 hours, give great throat hit and stays consistent in delivery for all 21 hours.

Welcome! I'm sure you'll find the right ecig for you! I'm personally didn't like my kr808 batteries because cleaning and fill cartos were a pain for me and the battery life were low for me. Ao
I went with the ego setup after, and drip with it. But I do have some ego tank attys and tanks, and some BOGO cartos if I go out somewhere and don't want to bring ago a bottle of juice. It all really is up too the user and what fits their needs! Wish the best of luck to you!

Yes they all use e-liquid but you can get large capacity cartomizers, usually 4-6 cigarettes worth, and they are easy to change so you don't actually have to carry a juice bottle with you. You can also use tanks which can hold a day or more worth of juice but tey aren't always convenient or a feeding mod which contains a juice bottle inside, but you are getting into largish boxes for a feeder.

Welcome! Here is a comparison photo showing an eGo-type with larger, 900 mAH manual batteries and standard cartomizers on the right alongside one of the smallest cigarette style PVs. My backup - an Njoy Npro 4081 (which is very stealthy but I cannot really recommend) with their cartomizers. The Njoy works ok but has very short battery life of about an hour and has an overly sensitive automatic battery which tends to shorten its useable life even more if you don't take it apart all the time. The eGo kit that I purchased from Mad Vapes, is a night/day difference in performance. I can go literally all day, all night and into the next day of moderate vaping on one battery and 2.5-3.2 ohm cartomizers. They hold up to about 1mL of juice and gives the equivalent of about 3 maybe 4 cigarettes worth of solid vaping each before I feel the need to top them off again. I can cup the eGo in my hand and get a pretty stealthy vape going. Only thing is it produces an impressive plume of vapor which can be controlled somewhat if you really need to. This is my get-out-of-town-quick kit. The little altoids box is very innocent looking and holds 4 or 5 cartos, 2 Npro batteries and 1 eGo battery...fits in my pocket pretty well for carrying around or in my desk drawer at work for a quick vape.

cigarette-sized e-cigs arent always that great...

I'd recommend a joye ego (which is the same as a Riva/Inferno/Tornado... just from different vendors)

A kit will come with everything you need (2 batteries, a couple atomizers, a charger). You'll need that and some decent juice. Backwoodsbrew.net is a very popular vendor. I've tried a great deal of juices, BWB is what I vape all day every day!

Hope that helps... welcome and good luck!

Welcome to ECF! I was also gonna say a joye 510 as a good basic starter kit.

This is what I used for over a year...It was a great little e-cig.

I recommend new people stepping up to an Ego because I think it will keep them happier for longer... the price difference isnt that great (about $25), and the battery life is 4x that of a regular 510...

I just hate to see people try an e-cig and fail because they dont have the right equipment or cant figure it out.

Welcome to the forum. I used to be a pack a day smoker for 40 years. I will also recommend the eGo as the way to go. It is a bit larger than the cigs you are currently smoking, but the battery life is impressive. You will also soon find that you will be looking at non-tobacco flavored juices because the flavor you get from the cigs is just a very small part of the smoking experience.
