I know you didn't want a "fat" battery, but after some of my research, I started with the newer GoGo model ($59.99 at cigeasy.com), and I love it! The cartos are bigger, as are the batteries, and I didn't want to worry about recharging/refilling during the day. I was a PAD+ smoker, and dropped analogs on day 1 (which was 8/10/11). I'm vaping the free bottle of coconut I got from them, and it tastes "toasted" and is mild, so I'm really enjoying it. With the 2 batts, I haven't been without since day 1! Each batt is lasting me 2-3 days before needing a charge, as are the full cartos!

Good luck with your search, and let us know how it goes w/whatever you choose. I'm interested in the PT myself, spending lots of time at the PC too. PT would save my batts for the next day(s)! So I'd really be curious how that goes, and a good single batt/carto PT set (and cheap! LOL).

Thanks to all the responders too, even though I didn't start this post, I'm gaining knowledge as well and sure do appreciate it! :)

PS: BOODLE: Love your cat photo! My last cat, Felicia, looked just like that! Beautiful :)

PPS: CGLASFORD: What's "Colory Carto Hats" & where do I get them?

VJH- You said you got the ultimate kit from MVS, how are you liking the pass-through? Did you get the auto or manual? It seems to be the only 808 PT I've come across that doesn't have at least 1 "died in XX days" review even on their website.

sonic-Colory Carto Hats was his way of saying colored soft mouth pieces, Smokeless Image makes them for their 808 cartos

To everyone else, thanks for the info and keep it coming, I'll be placing my order(s) by Sunday night (not like anyone processes or ships on the weekend anyways) and I'll probably hitting up a few of the sites with juice sample packs as well.

Speaking of juice, anyone find any really good coffees? Not talking the caramel half calf foam machiatto type thing. I like my coffee like I like my women, bitter, its an aquired taste but not hard to come by. Ok so actually I prefer a full bodied super dark roast, typically east African bean, ground fine and brewed strong. Something that will put hair on your chest or peel paint off the wall, with just a dash of cream and a spoonful of sugar.

4. Juices. Flavors and Nic levels.
As I said, PAD smoker and more of a Camel fan than other brands. Currently killing myself with the Blue 99's. And yes like all noobies I want to start with something slightly similar to what I'm used to, although I understand my tastes will change and that everyone has their own preference as far a juices go for vaping. Any recommendations on good transitioning brands/flavors, I guess this kind of goes with the above question seeing as the concept of prefilled or blanks could also come into play here. As far as Nic lvls go, I'm not sure if I should go with 18mg or 11mg to start with, eventually planning on getting down to 0, but I would prefer to avoid the nic fits along with the withdrawl from the carpet cement. Knowing what I smoke and how much any thoughts on one lvl or the other?

Some feedback from a fellow recently-ex-smoker who is new to this vaping thing:

Like most others have said, this varies a lot from person to person.

Nic levels: I was a ~1-1.5PAD guy for close to 20 years. But I was also, on reflection, a guy who would go outside to smoke, and smoke the hell out of that cig (100s, too, so that's a bit more tobacco), all the way to the filter. As opposed to someone who lights a cig and has half of it burn away while they're having a drink or chatting with someone, I was getting pretty much 100% of the nic in that cig inhaled. So personally, I found I really needed 24mg juice to get me through my must-have-one moments.

And then there's how you vape - if you vape exactly in place of when you had a cigarette, you'll probably want a higher nic than if you find yourself sitting at the computer vaping off and on throughout the day.

What I've found to be useful is, instead of buying say 30ml of a juice, buying two 12-18ml orders of it, one at their highest nic they have, one at the lowest nic they have - then you can mix them (even just starting out with the high nic in a carto and refilling it with lower nic as you get the nicotine-overload headrush). This also makes for interesting observations about things like throat hit (for me, it varies far more with nic level than it does with basically anything else).

Regarding flavors: all I can say is that, with quitting smoking, your sense of taste and smell may improve/change in amusing ways :D , and you may well find that a juice that you like today tastes funky or foul in two weeks, or vice versa. So just be aware that your tastes may evolve.

In terms of tobacco flavored juices, I have yet to find one that tastes much like smoking did - but I have found some that do taste like tobacco in a different fashion. I've also found that these flavors are (with the exception of Bobba's Bounty, which tastes so complex that some folks here don't think it tastes like tobacco at all) definitely not amongst my favorites after a few weeks of vaping, much to my surprise.

Short version: don't be afraid to try stuff out! Your preferences after a month may be pretty different than what they are now, so accept that this is the learning phase, and experiment. :)

Thanks Shadow! I checked it out, but it won't work for me as I use the whistle tips. I'm thinking maybe a silver or gold Sharpie to mark an initial of the flavor (my cartos are black).

Oh, and that coffee sounds awesome - gonna hafta try that! :)

If you can find it, I luck out with my local guy, Ethiopian Harrar is in the opinion of some (including myself) to be the best bean. With a very unique flavor profile due to the dry processing, its an intense cup. Not to mention as a high altitude bean its got a slight bit more caffeine than your typical bean. My local guy gets it in a medium-dark roast and it makes a great all day drinker.

Now if I'm in the mood for some of that super dark stuff I was talking about, I pick up what we around here call Midnight Oil. Not sure on the bean, but I do know its the darkest you can roast it without burning it. Grind it super fine (close to espresso fine) and drip brew it, you get one hell of a smack in the face, fair warning though, not the best for first cup of the day...you really want to be awake before it hits you.

Either way at $20+ a pound its an expensive habit in its own right.

i smoke an average of about 10-15 sticks a day. i recently used my friend's manual and i do not mind the hassle of having to use my hands when i need to smoke. can anyone comment whether this> eGo-T Starter Kit 650mAh + the 24mg nicotine eliquids will be suitable for my needs?

Tanks tend to be fiddly but will do the job. Personally I would go with an Ego with cartos, good news is if you buy the tanks and don't like them you can just pickup cartos and screw them on the battery :)

Yes I would say it would do just fine for your needs, you may not need that much nicotine though. Perhaps buy a bottle of 18 and 24 in case 24 is too high.

Hi Shadow,
My hubby and I are kinda new to this as well and he did a lot of research before buying as well. We went with the G6 from halocigs.com. It's an kr808 battery. We got both the manual and auto in our sets so we can try them both out but we both really like the manual better. The auto battery acts really funny a lot. We ordered pre filled cartomizers and empty ones but find we like the empty ones better. We also tried Fluxomizers but they would crack and leak a lot. We just ordered our first big bat mod (Omega) but it won't be here till Monday so we are not sure how that will be but we are confident it will be good. We figured with all the money we are saving not buying analogs we can try different ones till we find THE one. Good luck with any choices you make. :)

CGlass and Ryan-Thanks so much for the information, really great comin from guys who've used/owned the Volt as well.

I'm really liking the Volt Pro kit, but rather than getting a couple of extra bats I'm really leaning toward a PT for home use, since I spend quite a good deal of time at home in front of the PC. I noticed that Volt's PT seems to be Auto only, I know Auto bats can have issues with refilled carto's cause of possible leaking and the open battery contact. Do PT's have the same/worse frying issue (last thing I need to do is short out my mobo with the damn thing) as the regular Auto bats, and if so is it an option to look at an 808 PT from another site to work with the Volt cartos?

As far as juices go, it seems that tobacco flavors aren't too well received by some here, but the other options are mostly dessert/fruit flavors. I've never had much of a sweet tooth, hell I even like my chocolate semi-sweet or darker. Any favorite "non-sweet" juices I should try?

I was checking out some of the sites from the "sample size" thread and ran across BomBayVaping. Any poster have good/bad experiences with them? And any idea's what's with the "flavor strength" option on their samples?

Sorry it took so long for a response... Yes a 808 pt from any site will work. As always... Read the reviews and take into account any possible user error. The ppl that ..... about auto batts getting ....ed up are probably tards that can't fill a carto properly... Also regularly CLEANING battery connections is a must! Just use rubbing alcohol on a cue tip... It's easy. In short... If you aren't a ....tard you will be fine with any battery or pt (so long as it isn't DOA). Treat it nice and it will treat you nice. Good luck!
