So I manage a convenient store and we recently got a cig2o display. Well I decided to try them. I hated the taste but because of the benefits I decided to stick with it. Well I got used to the flavor (It's kind of sweet). I'm using the 18mg regular replacement cartimizers.

After a while (about a day) the cartimizers get a burnt taste to them and it happens on everyone. It happens with everyone. Is this normal? Also I've read here that they are refillable. I tried to take an old cart and used the toothpick method to push out the metal insert that's inside of the threads where it screws into the battery. When I do this there is a rubber seal. The seal tears. and from what I can tell renders the atomizer useless. Before I take it out I get plenty of vapor with the burnt taste. After I get nothing at all.

So with that said are these exact cartimizers refillable and if not what is my next step?

I get these at half price, so I'm paying $5 for a 3pack. $10 for a new battery with 2 carts and a usb charger.

With what I am paying is it worth looking into buying newer better batteries, new refillable carts, and bottles of juice?

Refilling a cart is done from the back side, not the side that screws in. The plastic or rubber cap on the back is removable.

If you like the Cig2o style, I recommend vapeshot.com products for the analog look. Their tobacco flavor is really good and they have discount codes. It may be a little more than the cig2o stuff since you're getting 50% off but it's higher quality.

The burnt taste means your carto is empty and your burning the poly-fill. You want to refill the carto before this happens.

Hello and welcome! If you are interested in vaping I would recommend a better type of e cigarette, I don't know much about the aformentioned brand but most of the time the e cigs you can get from a gas station/convenient store are not that good. There are many, many different options to choose from so you can choose something that fits your needs. The vendors on this site are reputable so I would suggest looking through and searching starter kits and find one that suits your needs.

The burnt taste you are getting is from the juice running out, and yes it is normal if you dont refill the cartridge, the cartridge needs to be refilled before the juice runs low. Typically a good cart can be reused several times depending on how you vape, what juice you use and how you clean them.

Other brands of E cigs like my first one, a V2, you can pop off the top of the cartridge and refill the juice but again I am not familiar with the brand you have. Hope this helps.

What rubber cap are you referring to? The one that is tearing when I do this?
On the back side of the cig2o carto (NOT the side that screws in) there is a white cap with a hole that the vapor comes out of. Stick 1 prong of a fork in there and pry it sideways. It will pop out. Don't do anything to the side that screws into the battery, it will ruin the carto.

There may be a separate rubber stopper in the back side too, it shouldn't tear. If it does just throw it out. Onec you get it the first time you'll be able to do it easily.

Ok I just now figured out what this plastic cap is. My cart is wrapped to look like a regular cig. So basically when I want to refill it I pop out the cap on the mouth side and fill in the fabric with my juice. Did I understand this correctly?

Ugh lol I'm getting discouraged. So many questions.

If I decide to swap products. What's a good battery? What is the most realistic tobacco flavored juice? How will I know when to refill? How many refills will I get from one bottle? How do I wash empty cartidges.

Vapegoat, you mentioned the v2 which if I'm not mistaken uses the same battery as the cig2o. Since going from the V2. What are you using now?

Brandon, how do you like the vapeshot? Are the "marlboro" flavored carts any good? And what is the battery life like on those things?

I have had a Cig2o since Thanksgiving and have used it everyday. I also have a set of 650 mah Rivas with Boge and SmokTek cartos. While the Cig2o is no replacement for the Rivas I have enjoyed it. I have refilled my cartos many times and think the quality of the cartos is nearly as good as Boge. The caps on the Cig2o cartos are hard plastic and are a little difficult to remove the first time. I use a jewelers screwdriver inserted just slightly into the hole the vapor comes out of and pry it out. The cap may distort slightly but is still usable. There is a soft rubber disc below that which can be removed and discarded. I refill them by dripping juice down the inside wall, while holding the carto at a 45 degree angle and rotating. You can learn more specifics about filling your cartos here on ECF or on You Tube. The Cig2o is a KR808D-1 style and other cartos are available from other suppliers, but at half off I would stick with the ones you got. I wouldn't sink a lot of money into any analog style e-cig, but as convenience store e-cigs go, and especially at half off, the Cig2o ain't too bad.

I believe your model is KR808D-1. If their cartos have crappy rebrander tricks like hard or glued on endcaps than buy cartos elsewhere. Also some cartos are not designed well for refilling and have an unstructured glob of stuffing with no central air channel. The following are good cartos and good for keeping damp. I don't think of it as "refilling" becuase if you run a carto too close to dry you will singe it. I keep cartos damp.

V4L.com WOW cartos (hot on the lips though - buy their black delrin drip tip as a cool mouthpiece to use instead of the endcap). Their Coolcarts are a bit cooler.

Bloogplanet and SmokelessImage cartomizers - nice 2.6ohm horizontal coil cartomizers, very absorbent, cooler at the lip end

Here is how I fill blanks and keep cartos damp. I don't uses syringes or tricks - just the juice bottle and the carto. My cleanup method is pretty good for avoiding leaks. And BTW I recommend manual batteries (harder to kill with the leaks you sometimes get from self-filled cartos, easier to get a good hit every time). V4L manuals with their long cutoff are my favorites.

-----
How I fill a cartomizer (Vapor4Life/Bloog/Volt for KR8 or Boge 510 for 510 which are all soft-cap w/ no inner seals and defined central air channel)

I use thin (20% or less VG) liquid or Vapor4Life WOW liquids, preferably clear liquids w/ no sediment

Filling a blank carto - I pop off the soft cap (unbent paperclip carefully in the mouth hole, not catching any wires or stuffing!). I hold some tissue against the threaded end hole (or you could use the carto condom spike to plug the hole). I tilt the carto and slowly drip 18 drops (per ml of carto capacity and these are 1ml cartos, and you may have to wait for the first few to wet the stuffing) onto the inner wall of the carto so it slides down into the stuffing while I rotate the carto. Then I wait 15 seconds or so then I drip however many more drops the stuffing wants to soak up (usually 4-8).

Cleanup: Then I do clean-up. If it is leaking, I clean that up. Then I tilt the open end down into the tissue and puff into the threaded end to clear any juice out of the central air channel (I want to see light through there). With the carto still tilted with open end down I gently touch a bit of tissue to the stuffing (otherwise that liquid will be gurgling or spitting in my mouth). (And instead, if I really want to avoid leaks I touch the soft bit of tissue to the stuffing while puffing into the threaded end.)

Settle: Then since this was a fresh fill of a blank, I now let it settle. I lay the carto on different sides and the ends over 15-20 minutes. Then it should be ready to vape. If you use thicker juices than me, then you may need to let it settle longer.

As I am vaping - if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or tastes bit off or the carto is getting unusually warm, I will take the carto off the battery, open it, add 4-8 drops or whatever it seems to want (I will either hold a bit of tissue against the threaded end hole just in case, or skimp on how many drops I add to make sure I avoid drips if I have no tissue). I check to make sure the threaded end is dry, give it a couple of puffs into the threaded end to make sure the air channel is clear, and continue to vape.

Note - it is easy for me to "open" my main cartos for adding juice because I replace the white end cap with a plastic or delrin drip tip (I get them at LiteCigUSA.net). So I can easily pull that out with my fingers when I add juice and it keeps my lips cool if the carto is hot. I can also pull off the drip tip to check if the top of the stuffing has gone white and could use some juice.

If you're happy with the look and battery life of your Cig2o, there is no need to switch to a different model. The Cig2o is a rebranded KR808D-1, which is a very solid model for that size. Only look into switching if you want bigger batteries, bigger cartos, different look, etc.

You can order empty cartos and other accessories for it online, just make sure they say "KR8", "808", or something similar. Not 510 or eGo. But 3 for $5 sounds like a pretty good deal already. At the usual $10, they're overpriced. But if you always get them half off, you're in pretty good shape.

Best way to refill, IMO, is using a syringe. Like so: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tutorials/212616-syringe-method-refilling-cartomizers.html (video has a weird / useless intro; you can just skip a few minutes ahead)

You just have to refill before it gets empty / dry. Better to refill too soon than too late. Whenever you suspect you've used a good amount.

KR8 cartos hold about 0.8ml of liquid. So a 15ml bottle can be used to refill a carto from completely empty to completely full about 18-19 times. In practice, unless you just washed it, you're not going to refill from scratch. Rather, you want to top them off now and then, before they run dry (making them taste horrible).

Many ways to clean cartos, check the tutorials section (same section as the video I linked to).

Cig2o's were my first ecigs and they got me off the uglys right away. At half off that's pretty good. I paid 90 bucks for a two battery starter kit. And 15 bucks for a 5 pack. If it works for you great. I moved on to a couple 1000mah batteries that last me a day a piece. The cig2os I was going through 4 or 5 a day and way to many carto's. If you want bigger and better beware. Its a very addictive hobby LOL. Just check out this forum a little bit and see all the goodies you could have. I'm moving on to a provari next and have been DIYing my own juice for about a month ago. Been vaping for 7 months. Good luck and hope it works for you!

Brandon, how do you like the vapeshot? Are the "marlboro" flavored carts any good? And what is the battery life like on those things?

I like my vapeshot stuff more than any of the other brands I have. The battery is just a tiny bit smaller but I vape regularly and get 1.5 hours out of each before recharging. The main reason I like it is all the stuff that came with the starter kit and unlike Blu there are coupon codes they send and I find.

I like their tobacco flavor the most. I just wish they sold their tobacco flavor in a juice bottle! I think it's the most like a marlboro out of the juices and brands I have used. I order juice from V4L to refill. I like their "Cowboy" and "555" flavors.

Alot of the members here recommend larger batteries, but I like to be able to comfortably fit mine in my pocket along with the PCC that came with the kit. I can't do that with the larger batteries.
