Hey all,new guy here. I was a pack a day smoker for 25 years.
I started vaping about 2 weeks ago,I stopped smoking cigarettes the instant I started vaping.Wasn't even hard for me,vaping seems to be perfect for me and more enjoyable. So yeah 2 weeks cigarette free and now all I think about is vaping. :)

I started out with a kr808 kit from V2 and went straight to buying juice and filling my own blanks. I love the Red juice, but already wanting to expand my options.I ordered some juices from ECBlend, and yes I did order some Dragonsblood. :)
I also ordered a Volt X2 passthrough with some clearomizers to compliment my 808 stuff.Next on the list is a SLB kGo as I want to get into 510 stuff because of the amount of options there.I considered an eGo-C but decided on the kGo.A Provari is on the list as well, but I think I'm going to take my time and get a little more knowledge before I make that step.

Anyway...Hi!

Desp_Quitter,research research research. When you decide exactly what you want, research it some more. Before you order it,give it a few days checking other things and research some more, lol.I have ordered stuff and the next day said...darn,wish I would have just waited,I would have got "this" instead.
Other than that...I'm new at this so anything other than do your research would probably be bad advice.Good luck to you!

Hi, Dizzy, and welcome!

You're doing great! There's nothing more important than being able to switch to vaping exclusively. Once you did that, the rest is details.

I started with V2 as well. In hindsight, I wish I hadn't, but hey... you have to start somewhere, and V2s are probably one of the less bad options out there. They took me off analogs, so I hold no grudge.

It's okay to start expanding your options, but I guess you should take a step back, vape, and figure out what you like and what you don't like about that Volt before you buy anything else. I would recommend the KGO kit to anyone in a heartbeat, but if you are satisfied with the Volt and have the V2s as backup - this setup can keep you going for a while, during which time you can figure out what you really want next!

There is no pressing reason to "get into 510" stuff. If there is anything unavailable for the 808 connection, you can use an adapter, and the Volt X2 can use pretty much everything out there. Make sure it is manual (button activated). Do not use "low resistance" heads with regular, cigarette size batteries and you cannot experiment too much with automatic (puff activated) batteries because if any liquid gets spilled in there they die a horrible and sudden death.

You might, however, consider expanding your juice horizon (as you are rightly doing). Most vapers' tastes change rapidly after quitting smoking, and move away from tobaccos into other realms of infinite joy. Some stick, at least partially, to tobaccos. The point is that most people find it harder to figure out their juice preferences that finding a great device.

As to moving forward - going to the KGO would be a small step in the right direction; maybe too small a step after the Volt X2, so if you still have the urge (that means you caught the bug), you probably should consider an APV (aka mod) with large, long lasting swappable batteries and long life. But you can take a little time, that's what I'm saying.

ProVari is an amazing device -- pricey, but worth the money. However, you really need to get a little information on why variable voltage is enjoyed by so many of us - and figure out if you are likely to have the same experience or not.

Once again, congratulations on switching!

Dizzy73 congrats on quitting analogs, welcome to vaping and welcome to ECF. Your story sounds so similar to mine and my husband's. 25 years, quit immediately, love vaping, did alot of research and we are now over a year smoke free and in Provari Bliss. :) Sounds like you did your research and you are really enjoying your vaping experience. Way to go!

Thanks for the sound advice elfstone I agree with you on all aspects.I ordered the X2 hastily to be honest. The next day I found the KGO and thought, darn, that is more what I was looking for.The bug? Already got it,I love toys and technology.

I was sold on the Provari when I saw a very in depth review on youtube of it.Although, this soon into my adventure,I agree I'm not jumping in that deep head first yet.Although I can definitely see the appeal and desire for a VV.

Welcome to ECF, Dizzy! I too am a V2 alum. Unfortunately, I smoked 2+pack/day, and they just couldn't get me over the hump (though they did get me down to 10/day). I would up going with the E-power and have absolutely no regrets! That said, Elf is correct; if you already have the Volt passthrough, assuming you got the 1100mah passthrough, there's not much the Kgo (or the E-power, since they're equivalents) can give you. You can easily get a 808/510 adapter. I'd recommend that you do that and get some LR cartos. I'm using the Smoketek 1.7ohms and the Boge 2.0ohms LRs, and enjoying them greatly. The best statement I've read concerning whether or not to use a vv: To get more power, you can either increase the voltage or decrease the ohms.

wow you know a lot already! :) I started vaping two weeks ago today, too! I smoked about a pack and a half a day for an outrageous number of years and was able to quit cold turkey because of vaping. I love it! anyway, guess I have a lot to learn, because I have no idea what a voltx2 passthrough, etc. are. I have a halo g6 and I love it

The 650 works just fine. The life just isn't as long as the 1100s. Rule of thumb: 100mawh = 1 hour of vaping. This isn't necessarily accurate, especially if you're using LRs, but that's why it's a rot, not a law, lol. Your 650 will still last a helluva lot longer than your V2s without a recharge.

Reidus and elfstone ok,i'm going to come clean here, lol.I like having toys.I'm a gadget guy and like to have collections.Busted.

elfstone,I'm glad you brought that up about low resistance and multimeters. One of the things I plan on getting is a good multimeter...If you have suggestions on where to get a good one,I'm all ears.I like to know exactly what my stuff is doing as far as voltage output under load and cart resistance.

One of my hobbies is RC Helicopters. The batteries I use on my electrics are Lithium Polymer (Li-Po). When it comes to those batteries I monitor the heck out of them because they can be very dangerous.Safe if operated correctly, but still fooling around isn't something you do with them, lol.
