Hello all my name is Paul Miller, and I go by Lost. I am a welder and tattoo artist. I had been a 2 pack a day smoker for 13 years and just quit a little over two and a half months ago. So I started off vaping with an ego battery and top feed clearomizer. Needless to say while it did get me off the sick sticks I'd didn't last long. So I have been moving up little by little and made the jump to a true Haha mod DNA30 V3 with a Joytech Delta. Now is where the question comes in, I haven't had time to really search so if this is all ready out there just point me in that direction. But I'm moving into an RDA and while I know the basics of building coils. I have not found a 100% simple answer of what really changes the ohms in a coil. Is it the wire gauge or the number of coils. I'm looking to get a dual coil nemesis and I would like to run it at about .5 ohms which means I need two 1.0 ohm coils if I am understanding it all correctly. But what makes that 1 ohm coil? The wire gauge or number of coils.

First things first make sure you get some good quality batteries and a good charger from a reputable vendor. Sony vtc4s or vtc5s are top notch. Second. the nemesis is just a mod not an rda. You will need an ohm reader if your going to be sub ohming. To answer your resistance question, the gauge, the amount of coils wrapped, the diameter of the coils and the type of wire all affect the resistance.

Hey there, Paul . . . I mean, Lost. ;)

It can be quite confusing in the beginning. The resistance of a coil is determine by the characteristics of the particular wire, which the coil is made of.

For example, 32 ga. Kanthal A-1 has a resistance of 1.2Ω/inch. 30 ga. Kanthal A-1 has a resistance of 0.7Ω/inch.

Well it has been one week and I have relapsed into buying more vapor stuff. Yesterday I made a rather large purchase of a true mcv atomic rda and I mugs say that the little bugger really puts outs some clouds and flavor. For such a small rda it's output matches or maybe even surpasses my tobh atty. And I think I'm going to pick up a ipv 50w box today. I'm running my atty at .7 ohm and my atomic at .5 ohm. They both vape really well at 30w. All in all glad I decided to upgrade.

Well guess I'm going vape crazy. I now have a DNA 30, IPV 50w, and a maraxus mechanical. And I am running the tobh atty on the DNA an atomic on the IPV and a trident v1 on the maraxus. I'm running all of them at about .3 ohms give or take .01 ohm at 25 watts on the VW devices and a .2 ohm build on the maraxus. I found a place local who had a few vtc5 left and picked them up so I now have 5 vtc5 and 3 vtc4 batterys.
