I have been vaping for about two years now. I have continued to use an ego battery, and currently I have a Kanger Protank 2 several Evod tanks, and recently purchased a couple of Evod 2 tanks to try them out. I love LOVE my protank, but I constantly have problems with leaking/popping etc...it makes great vapor and tastes great with my liquid I'm just tired of the leaking. I don't over tighten anything, I learned that quick, but I still have some leaking. I noticed with the Evod 2 it is hardly any leaking at all and that may be because it is newer/improved. I read the the Protank 3 has improved everything and there is no leaking etc, but they take the double coils and I don't want to change out all of my equipment. I love the simplicity of my set up so I do not want to drastically change anything. I would jump on the Protank 3 even with the need of the new coils, BUT I tried the double coils on the Evod 2 ( it can take the single and double coils) and I actually prefer the single coil on the Evod 2. So I'm concerned that if I invest in the Protank 3 I will be forced to use the double coils (unfortunately it does not take the single coils) and may end up not liking it as much. I'm not really sure why the Protank 3 can't take the single coils since the Evod 2 can, does anyone know? They fit the same in my Evod 2 tank. Basically I'm wondering if I can get this Protank 3 and stick a single coil in it anyway if in fact I do not like the double coil in it?

Far as I know the coils are different for the protank 2 and the protank 3.
Protank 2 coils fit - protank 2 , mini protank 2, evod.
Protank 3 coils fit - protank 3 , mini protank 3 , aerotank,aerotank mega,aerotank mini ,emow.
Going by their own site.

They recently bought out vertical organic cotton coils which I believe are dual vertical coils.

You'd love the Aspire Nautilus Mini with the 1.6 or 1.8 ohm BVC coils. (single bottom vertical coil). It's the most dependable tank I own.
And you develop a vice-like grip unscrewing the glass from the base..........

+ 1000 on the Nautilus. My protank 2 ended up as slingshot ammo. It was very satisfying watching it shatter against a brick wall. Lol! I hated that thing. The nautilus is awesome and a major upgrade. The coils last 10x longer and you get a lot better flavor and vapor out of them. And if you don't over-tighten the base, it's easier to get off than the protank to refill.

do you dryburn, rewick, clean or otherwise to reuse your coils?

If so you might want to look at the subtank mini or plus, and get the rba heads for it.

The dual coils are taller than the single coils; the dual coils are too tall to fit in the protank2, and the single coils will physically be able to fit into the protank3 but with a gap/space between the coil and the center airtube/chimney which will cause gurgling and leaking

The PT 2 coils are shorter than PT 3 and I find they fit OK, altough I now only buy PT 3 types. My PT 2 showed the problems you described, and I dumped it. Upgrading is totally part of vaping, nothing lasts for very long.

    Welcome to the forum.

And, that's by design. The industry would fold if products lasted.

Or, haven't you noticed, practically no one carries carto tanks, or even cartomizers anymore. Simple reason for that, they can't make a living selling $1 cartomizers that last a month. They need to sell $5 atomizer heads that last a week.

That's why the cigarette industry is so successful, you use them once & buy another one (or 200).

I was usin PT2's for at least a year and never really had any problems with leaking. Used to use 100% VG juice though so that's probably why. I did get a bit fed up with having to recoil and wick the Protank. I'd recoil every head, got about 20 of them, all at once and it took at least a couple of hours and made my fingers numb. Now they are just sitting in my box of stuff i don't use any more. Funny thing is they were replaced by an authentic Kayfun V4 and a Russian 91%, which cost an obscene amount of money by the way, and they do exactly the same thing and don't perform any better than the Protanks did. I do expect them to last a lifetime though.

ps. If the Protank leaks then pack out the juice holes with more flavour wicks !!!.

Thanks all! I just got on Mount Baker's website and ordered the Nautilus Mini. I will give it a try. So far I do like the Evod 2. That might be my go-to cheaper tanks for the stuff I don't vape on as often. It doesn't seem to be leaking, at least not yet.

I want to welcome you to the forum.

I had a Nautilus Mini. Flavor was fantastic but did not care for the mysterious crumbly whit substrate around the organic cotton and coils. Ivdobt know if it was ceramic asbestos etc so I threw the coils away and switched to the Kanger sub tank mini and nano

If they don't tell what the stuff is I am not vaping it.
