Hello everyone!

I am from the Chicagoland area and I have been using e-cigarettes for a few years now. I've only ever used disposables (Blu, MarkTen, Vuse, etc) but I'd like to try something I can refill myself. I have tourettes, and nicotine is one of the few things that helps.

My boyfriend was a smoker for 13 years, but he was able to quit completely with e-cigarettes. I never smoked analogs myself. We've pretty much been using the same disposables, and he's also interested in something he can refill himself.

I'd like something that:

Has a good (if not great?) battery life.

Is easy to refill.

I can order affordable e-juice online for.

Maybe $50 - $100 initially. (Willing to pay more if it's that much better)

Not too much upkeep as far as parts go.

Treat me like I'm clueless to this whole thing, because I pretty much am. I'm used to just running to a gas station and grabbing something disposable. I'd appreciate any and all suggestions, because the amount of choices out there are completely overwhelming.

Thanks for all your help.

Hello and welcome! Since it seems you like the disposables I would imagine you like MTL (mouth to lung as opposed to DL direct lung inhales) in which case I would suggest an istick 30 or 40 watt with an Aspire mini. I'm sure others will chime in as well.

This is as good a solution as any.

As for liquid, almost any device can be used with any liquid. Getting the best flavor will be the hard part. If you are getting it as a gift, you might consider getting some samples to start out. Mt Baker is a good place for less expensive liquids. Heathers Heavenly Vapes for tobacco flavors. At Heathers you can put together a sample pack.

I agree with the provari and nautilus mini just order your batteries and charger from them at the same time that way you know everything will be good to go. Plus you can send them an e-mail with questions and from what I've heard some of the best customer service around. You can go to search and type in provari and find threads on them.

Users who purchase a lower nicotine strength e-liquid than they are accustomed to tend to relapse because vaping doesn't satisfy their craving. Click here for more information on choosing the right strength.

As Pfeffernusse was a non-smoker I doubt relapsing is a concern to her and since her husband has already quit smoking it sounds as though he's got that part figured out already.

There are lots of choices when it comes to hardware and the prior posters are giving you some good suggestions. As long as you choose something reasonably popular with generally favorable reviews (best & most believable reviews are found on the various forums) you will be satisfied with what you've acquired.

DJS - after reading your response I got curious and actually went to their website to read about nic strength. I didn't see anything out and out wrong but it is certainly a very shallow dissertation on the subject, not even worth reading.

The article about nic strength might be acceptable (or not) but it's the rest of the website which is so shamefully engineered to persuade people to buy Vaporfi and V2.

A person spamming for a website which recommends products to line their own pockets with commission is just another website which, well, um.... recommends products to line their own pockets with commission.

Welcome and glad you joined. I use a Eleaf iStick 40w (same battery for over a year now) and vape single coil *Magma RDA's at 2 ohms/7 watts. The battery last all day (Great flavor and normal clouds) on one USB charge with good usage. This type of vaping is at the extreme other end of vaping (Great taste and moderate clouds).
The Magma RDA is a deep well dripper. With the approx. 2 ohm/7 watt, I can vape close to an hour without having to drip into the well. The whole set up is around $40.

Ah, I read nothing but the one writeup and studiously ignored everything else.

Welcome! I will also recommend a Provari 2.5 mini and Nautilus minis or an eleaf Pico! Both are extremely responsibly priced and good MTL setups!

Excellent choice!

Much better than buying Vaporfi or V2, paying insanely over the odds and giving extra money to somebody on commission.
