New here, obviously. Just got a Vamo v5 and have a few questions.

Love this thing I absolutely give 10/10, now to see how long it lasts.
I bought a stainless Vamo v5, 2xVTC5's overkill but whatever, a stainless Kanger ProTank 2 no issues don't understand all the hate on these, an IGO-W to practice coils, a TrustFire Multi-Charger, and 28ga...Don't think the store matters, though i believe it's NYC based. I've owned some generic e-cigs, a generic 510 650mAh, and an EMax 1100mAh. I want to get into mech's but figured it'd be safer to toy with a regulated one and when the time comes i have kanthal 18650's a charger and everything else i need.

First, yes i have set it in RMS mode, assuming this is easier on the coil because it modulates the power? Atleast that's what i get from what people say.
Questions
How reliable are these, i know they've been out awhile so i'm hoping to hear from a few past/current owners. Strength/Lifetime
Can i use this to check coils when i buy a mech? Might sound stupid but idk how accurate these sensors are.
What type of coils are the best to build on something thats regulated. Won't fire below 1.2ohms i believe, but it'll display resistance.
And, does anyone have some links to good in depth tuts on coils? I'd like to know it all, or at least what i can.

It all depends on how you treat your mod really. Keep it clean, don't drop it, don't over tighten the atomizer... etc and it will last you a good long while.

I can't speak about reliability of the Vamo, but I am sure somebody will be able too.

I believe the Vamo ohm readings are pretty spot on, so yet you can. I use my Tesla yet to check ohm resistance for my mechs.

For 1.2 ohm builds on my Tesla I used 7 wraps on a 3/32 bit with 30g. To this day I don't do fancy wraps that take forever to build or wick. I've tried em, but honestly the difference wasn't enough for me to put that much effort into a coil. The most complex I get anymore is twisted wire and then do a standard micro coil. I like a little heat with lots of flavor, and the twisted wire with a micro wrap and Rayon.. inside a Kayfun gives me exactly what I want. Oh... and 20pg/80vg blend there's no shortage of vapor either.

Youtube is a great place to lookup and watch coil builds.

Everything you picked and are doing is great. You have good batteries that you can take to a mech and learning to build on a VV/VW device first. I give you a A++ for doing things the correct and safe way.

There's a time and a place for playing safe and not cutting corners, if you're face is on the line it's one of them. :D
But, yeah I quit more than one thing a year ago and picked this up seriously a few months ago. 8 years on Newports started at the fine age of 9 :(.
Real interesting how Fox "News" and a lot of other outlets like to demonize these. I'll take my chances switching to vaping, the flavors are the only thing that sketch me out. Still 2-20 Ingredients vs 500+ say's something. And, thanks for replying. I've been practicing building coils rather than using them as i can always buy more kanthal. My first coil was 7 wraps on a qtip and some boiled gauze came out to 1.3ohms, friend helped me through on Skype.
Question for anyone
What size drill bit should i use to bore out my IGO the airflow is terrible.
And, if permitted, what 510 "Dry Herb" attachments come recommended?

I would have to agree with Despraci, you have a good starting setup. You might want to get 28g wire for your coils and try twisting the 28g kanthal to see what that will get you with 10 - 14 wraps on that. The Vamo v5 is a very reliable piece of vaping gear. You take care of it and it will take care of you. There are plenty of ways to make coils so you can go to youtube and learn to make them. Riptripper has plenty of coil building tutorials on how to build and wick them. If you are like me you will enjoy them.

Keep on vaping and helping others to start vaping

the Vamo V5 was my first mod. It was great, It suffered through several drops onto concrete held up fine. But being a beginner I made a mistake which cost me the mod and a battery so I thought I'd warn you. There is a little black plastic insulator ring on the positive battery contact which should come glued into place. Well make sure to check for that ring whenever you swap batteries. My ring fell out, and as a result shorted my flat top battery out.
Other than that the mod was great like I said. I used it mainly with Kanger T2's and T3S'. I also used an RSST on it some, but because of the ohm limit I wasn't getting enough kick for what I like.

I was the same way. I burnt through a decent amount of Kanthal at first. Now I just use a lot of it to twist wire up ever couple of weeks so I have a stock pile.

For your IGO, start small. I'd say 1/16 and try it there. As your lungs clear and you can pull more air you will want to enlarge them again. But if you go to big too soon, you won't get much vapor out of it. You can always take more metal away, you can't put it back. One thing you might want to look at is a Stillare RDA. I love my IGO for testing, but if I was big on drippers, that's the one I have for daily use.

Dry herbs... I have no clue. It's it's not liquid and I can't vape it, it's beyond me.

I've had the V5 for a few months. I like it n yes it's good for checking coils to 1.2 ohms. The 510 connector is somewhat weak - brass threads. like Desp said thread carefully n don't over tighten your atty! I had to put a small rubber washer under the pin as it was shorting out. also, occasionally have to pull batt. as screen goes blank and won't fire. other than that it's great with my Kayfun! oh RMS is more accurate settings wise. Enjoy & Vape On! :D

Have had my v5 for a few months and it is still kicking but 1 moved to the Hades 26650.
The v5 is good as an ohm reader but if you have anything below .4 ohms it will not read the ohms and it will say low load.

Do not bother using vw, use the vv setting in my opinion.
As mentioned won't fire below 1.2 ohm's.
Of course the higher the voltage setting the faster you will get a dead battery.
I loved the 3D a tty with thjs mod.
Enjoy
Nice mod

A friend tested coils with a multimeter and then with my Vamo v5 and the readings were always different. By about .2 ohm, but I don't remember more or less. The coils were in place in the Clearo, and was touching the contacts on the bottom of the tank with the probes.

Does this difference matter if you make coils for yourself?

I have had my vamo v5 since march, and it is still working like i just bout it maybe even better! And thats after a 7ft drop on to a hard word floor O_O. I wouldn't advise doing this though obviously lol but to answer your "Q" on reliability 8/10 durability 11/10 its a really great mod for the price. I dont use it all the time nowadays but i still return to it, i have a tank and juice that i use only for this mod.
