New here Thinking of getting EGO w

Hi all, and thanx in advance for your help. I've been using the 502 for about a year now a few days a week. It just doesn't cut it. Not enough hit at all. I thinking of the ego w I can get from china for $8 for the 2 ecig kit(manual, which I will have to get used to)I have noticed all you can get is blank cartriges.Is the ego w the 510 or 808? They look like a pen. Do I have to buy juice for these? Where is the best price online to get it? Do these have that nasty aftertaste like the 502 ecigs? which is why i only use a couple days a week, nasty taste. Thought maybe I would try the vanilla or choclate juice so the aftertaste wouldn't be so bad(since I have a sweet tooth) I am a pack a day smoker (mboro mediums). Any advice is greatly appreciated. Hi & Welcome to ECF! I have to agree with gjshaw, the E-Power would be a much better choice. Frankly I don't know *what* that thing is on the site you linked but it's a pen-style something; I doubt if it's a 510 thread. Also, the flavor will mostly depend upon the e-liquid you choose rather than the PV itself. I'd look at these: 14650 Black Carto Kit or these: SLB KGO Starter Kit There are lots of other choices as well, of course. These two run at 3.7 volts, each with over 1000 mAh current capacity batteries; the standard eGo runs 3.4 v with 650 mAh batteries. The kits I listed above do not include liquid so you would need to supply that separately, either from these or other vendors. You will find many quality e-liquid vendors mentioned & advertised here in the Forums.

+ 100 on the E Power. You have to try different liquids from different vendors. Once you get a better set up like the E Power you will need to just try random liquids till you find one that suites your taste. I think most vapors will agree that once you find a liquid you love leaving the real cigs behind comes easily. A better set up will give you more vapor and a nice flavor rather than what you have now. I just went from a pen style to just a 3.7 volt mod and couldn't believe how much better it was. Also try some lower resistance cartomizers once you have a new setup. You won't be sorry you did.

Welcome to the forum yobry1. I was a user of the ego-w up until recently. At least the clearomizer part. I used them on my VV+lcd ego battery. I see people are mentioning going with the e-power instead. Perhaps some clarification needs to be put out there. Usually anything labled ego is going to 510 threads with the larger diameter ego threads on the outside, to allow the use of ego-only atomized devices. Like the ego-w clearomizer for example. The batteries are all the same when it comes to threads. So when they're saying "get an e-power instead, it's the best!" they're only referring to the battery, which may or may not be better, depending on your preference. This is why I never really buy kits. I've got the battery of my choice, if I want to change what I'm using to atomize my liquid, I buy just that particular part, not a whole kit. Kits can be cheaper if you're just starting out. But since pretty much any charger will work with pretty much any ego type battery, once you make the initial purchase, you really don't have a need for kits anymore unless you really want to drop the money on 2 more batteries, another charger, and a pretty box. When I started on the ego, I shopped around to find the cheapest charger, the battery I personally wanted - not what I was stuck with in a kit, and my own choice in atomizer (actually I started with boge cartomizers). So, it's all up to you in what you want. You can find a charger for less than $10, get all types of different batteries, and your own choice of atomizer/carto/clearo/tank. Don't limit yourself, buy a few single items to find what you like, then once you find your niche, stick with that. Kits are limiting, give yourself some choices

**edit** take a look around the forums. Just about the last 1/4-1/3 of the main page is a list of the forum approved vendors. They should each have their own forums. Perhaps see which vendors have the most active forums, indicating they have a lot of fans, which could be a good sign of a great vendor. See what they got. See what looks good to you. Then browse some more. Compare prices. See where they're located so you can find one close to you so that should have quicker shipping. Research is your best friend here.

If they are offering 2 "egos" for $8 that is by far WAY below the cost of ego knockoffs. I would be very wary. They have no reason to sell them that cheap unless they are trying to dump them.

On the same note, wasn't joyetech dumping their older batteries as well? Perhaps the older styles are cheap? I don't know for sure, just a thought.

The linked picture is actually an ego-w, they have a pen like cap that goes over the drip tip for pocket friendliness...and to look like a massive pen I guess? lol, the pen top is something I never cared for.

I've recently re-purposed an ego for a pipe mod, and have mainly been using the w tanks on it with pretty good results. The eGo is going to be by far one of the most flexible options for you out there as it can use anything with 510 threading, which is the most widely used thread type at the moment, and it will let you also use anything with eGo outer threading.

Something to keep in mind is that an eGo battery is going to run at 3.4 volts from start to finish, something like a kGo (just an eGo with different internals) is going to bet 4.2 volts off the charger, quickly drop to 3.7, and slowly drop to around 3.2 before it needs recharging. Both have the same body and threads, which are just hard to go wrong with unless you want something that uses a really big battery or something with variable voltage.

You can get eGo/kGo batteries as small as 600mAH(roughly 6ish hours of use), and as large as 1300mAH(13ish, or so they say). The ePower uses a 1050mAH battery that you can change (eGo batteries are the whole unit, aka built in), but there seems to be a good number of people who have had problems using certain cartomizers on their ePowers due to switches, batteries, or a mixture of the two.

Welcome, and I would also suggest the e-power 14650. Been using mine for almost 2 weeks and no stinkies for me anymore!! The battery life is amazing and Sweet-Vapes has excellent customer service

The -W (or F-1) clearo, depending on the supplier, is easy to clean & long lived. I've been using the same clearos for over 3 months now without a single problem. They still hit like new.
Then, there's the 'Stardust' - which has (had?) tube cracking problems - yet I still use them too. I repair w/ modelers glue, or replace the tube (now that they are available from GV) when they're beyond repair. I also like the GV Vision Extreme Giant clearo/tanks.

p.s. I'd avoid mentioning the juice you sounded out.

I can't personally recommend clearomizers, yet! as I have them on their way from GotVapes. But I am excited to receive them, I like the idea of NO filler and easy cleaning as CountSmackula wrote

I was never a fan of clearos until I tried the ego-w. The talk about leaks and dumping all their juice had me scared to try them. The ego-w looked cool with it's pen cap and metal cover. I've also been using a CE4 plus for a couple days now, and it's pretty awesome too. So hopefully the days of "beta testing" clearomizers are over and the kinks worked out with the newer versions.
