Hi everyone! I've been a smoker for the last 20 years (with an 18 month long quit-stint in there somewhere) and I'm tired of that habit. Hate the money spent into it, knowing that I'm spending it investing in adverse health issues. I did manage to quit once, but never quite lost the urge to light up, even after a year and a half. You know how they say that every smoker is addicted to a different thing, whether it is something to do with their hands, their mouths, the nicotine cravings. I think I'm literally addicted to smoking. The whole act. This is why I think I'm drawn to these e-cigs.

A week ago, I bought a Vapor-Blends pro-tank kit, and then I bought the Vapor-Blends brand blueberry with 1.6 nicotine level juice. The first few pulls I took of it, I could taste blueberry, then the flavor pretty much disappeared. It almost tastes like plain chapstick now. Even when I refilled with fresh juice, it still doesnt taste like blueberry. Is this common to all types of e-juice, or maybe is this just me getting used to the flavor?

Anyone recommend a brand of e-juice that seems to keep its flavor?

Also, I still find myself craving actual cigarettes when I first wake up and after I eat, is this common? I just want to be free of the cigarettes!

Thanks in advance.

I smoked a pack and a half a day of Camel Blues and switched to vaping by using 24 mg juice. Even with 24mg I still had withdrawals from substances in tobacco tar besides nicotine. The worst was over in three days. Things were much better after a week and cravings were disappearing after a month. I found that vaping made any craving go away prett6y fast.

You need to cycle through a few different flavors to avoid getting to used to one. Also you need to go for awhile not smoking to have your taste buds heal completely. I think it is pretty common to still crave cigarettes any time for the first few months at least. When you do, just vape instead until the craving passes. One of the cool things about vaping is being able to do it inside, so you can just vape away at your house.

It is normal to still be attached to your old habits. A transition has to be made over time. One of the differences between the two are styles of smoking. Most setups cannot be chain vaped like a cigarette. The wick needs a little time to re-saturate, unlike a cigarette. I had to have more patience with vaping or else I got dry hits which can taste bad depending on juice and setup. You can get used to flavors and they might not taste as good but for me this takes a week at least if I like it.

I had the same taste when I started. As I learned, that is common. My taste buds were shot from smoking and they would take time to recover. The word "chapstick" is exactly it.

I started getting ejuice that was loud in flavor like mints. That really helped.

Also, when I started, I wanted/required to know that it would work. I started with a higher nic (36mg). I just took a few draws when I had an "urge". It worked fine. I only really needed one bottle of it, since I couldn't taste much anyway. I also got 24mg ejuice. I pretty quickly moved to that. But, when I need that "little bit extra", I have a tank all ready to be used. Having extra tanks really helps.

I didn't have any interest in picking up a cig. I had strong juice and the handling of a PV is really the same as smoking a cig. I get up in the morning and get my coffee and PV. After meals I get my PV. But, that has lowered as I now don't leave my PV right in front of me. I have come down in nic also. It works.

One other thing that everyone suggested was to have back-ups and never to have an excuse to buy a pack of cigarettes.

Hope helps.

Maybe you should try other juices. I have been and I am still trying them. I smoke tobacco flavor because that's what I want to do. I have found good and not as good. I have several different kinds. I think that if you up the nicotine it may be better. I am at 18 and for me that's as high as I want to go. Also if there is a B&M near you try different flavors you might find a better one. Keep up the good work with vaping.

It doesnt say on the pack, but I googled it, and apparently its 0.6mg.

0.6mg. OK. That seems not too scary. 16mg should be OK, although the first few days/weeks are tough as you/we don't get the peak nicotine levels from smoking.

I didn't go "cold turkey", I smoked a few for quite a while.

I picked a nice strong Menthol flavor when I first started Vaping. That was 4 months ago. I usually carry 3 to 5 flavors with me at all times. I love the ability to be able to switch flavors when ever I feel the need or want:) Many of my friends cape and smoke analogs at the same time. I have not tried or for that matter wanted to smoke an analog. I am glad my house now is smoke free but the vapor hangs in the air all day long:)

Thank you everyone for your replies! I've lurked around this forum for the last few days, and have seen posts from people that seemed like they left the cigs behind when they got their vaporizers. Its good to know that I'm not alone, and its good to have the optimism that I may leave the "analog" cigs behind. Ultimately, my goal is to have one of those "I Quit" banners like I see that 30+Years & Frenchfry1942 have.

I did pick up another bottle of VooDoo Strawberry e-juice. Hopefully this one will keep its flavor (or I'll keep tasting it, LOL!)

Does anyone have a favorite brand?

I use Mt Baker Vapor for almost all of my juice. You may get on their site and mill around to see what they have to offer.

Just take it one step at a time and you'll get off the cigs in *your* time. :D
