Hi sherbear, Welcome to ECF!

Congratulations on quitting smoking. Unfortunately, headaches and insomnia are some of the after effects of quitting smoking as your body tries to adjust. Sometimes with vaping you need to adjust you nicotine level a little higher or lower, since you don't absorb as much as when you are smoking.

If you have any questions, let us know.

Welcome Sherbear! For me it got easier when I found a set up that worked well for me! If it hadn't been for this forum and someone suggesting a better alternative than what I was using I might not have stayed with vaping, so glad someone did!

I started with an Ego T kit I bought in April 2012. I hated the atomizer/tank set up that came with it and had all sorts of trouble with it. I have tried several different cartomizer's, clearomizer's and even recently the Vivi Nova Tank which I wasn't that thrilled with althought a lot of people love them. Someone mentioned Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer's to me some where along the way (and I thank them greatly!) I've pretty much settled on those and love the new shorter ones Stainless 1.5 Ohm eGo Mega Dual Coil Short Cartomizer.

I've also tried MANY different juices and didn't like many but have finally settled on three flavors that I keep in my daily rotatioin. It's good to try juices in small bottles to find what you like, I've got too many larger bottles of stuff I thought I would like and didn't. So much to learn and try and you'll get great sharing of experiences here, best to you in vaping!

Welcome Sherbear.
Everyone here will have an opinion, and most will have a different one.
EVOD clearomizers are cheap and easy. Changing coils on them and cleaning the coils are simple and quick.
I'm a big fan of the VVV cartomizer tanks. They're inexpensive, carts are cheap, they have great flavor and can stand up to ANY flavor of juice. (Many flavors will crack or eat the poly carbonate and acrylic tanks)

Research several sites before you buy, to save money. (VVV only available at Valley View Vapor website):2cool:

If it works well for you, it shouldn't be too hard to get the hubby of the stinkies, too!

Good luck and happy-vaping!

Hi sherbear, I hope you manage to stick with it. It can sometimes take a bit of trial and error to find a combination of kit and eliquid that works well for you. Your headaches could be a sign of too much nicotine. This could be to high a nic % or it could be too much juice (chain vaping). I've only been vaping 5 weeks, but in the first week or two, I was getting through 6 - 8 ml of juice per day, maybe more and suffering a bit of anxiety. I'm now getting through half that amount and things have calmed down.

Try lowering your nic %. If you find you're vaping even more, go back up again. As mentioned above, it's sometimes down to the changes you're going through. One thing I found that helped with juices I didn't like so much, was mixing it with menthol or mint juice. Assuming you like menthol, it's a strong flavour and can mask flavours you're not so keen on.

Best of luck and I hope you find a good balance soon.

thanks everyone i was smoking 2-3 packs a day is why i bought 24mg i have some thats 18mg also since it was all local shop had. I am going through about 3-5ml a day and about 6 analogs. i still have to get it to no cigs. I bought hubby one too but he keeps ruining his batteries getting juice in them but he only wants ones that look like cigs. I tried to get him to try one of mine but he says he will break the clearomizer i'm like it's cheaper to replace it then the batteries lol.

Try lowering your nicotine level. I have strong suspicions that when a smoker switches to vaping, it throws all their "habits" off. You're used to getting your nicotine one way then, suddenly, there's this new thing. And your habits have to shift around and adjust and you unconsciously figure out how to get the nic from this new thing and the amount you get goes up.

I had the problem that the nicotine level I started with and which worked great at first started keeping me wide awake until 2, 3 in the morning. I could not get to sleep. I had to back way off my nic level. Especially in the evenings. I'd bet it was because the more "practice" I got at vaping, the better I got at doing my inhale to nab the most nic "per puff".

I have to use different levels these days. Higher in the morning then switch down to coast along much of the day then sometimes go even lower in the evenings (like the time I do the sit and stare at the tee vee machine :) ).
