Hey jack, I got mine today and can honestly say I'm surprised with the qualities of the buttons with after everything I've read here, don't know how much you know about electornics but the underlying switch button feels and clicks like a mini push >>
MEC00035.JPG
<< One of these

It's a pretty easy push nice solid click pretty much no movement and it feels like the rubber of the power button has a solid base. I quite like it but I've had very little actual use with it since my battery is still charging. I'll update you once I use it

PS. Anyone else feel like the just cut these things up and used them as the body? :p

Does anyone realize that constant voltage= constant wattage on a certain Ohm atomizer? This is what I'm not understanding about these new "Variable Watt" devices. If you vary the watts, you are varying the voltage so what is different about them with everyone getting on the train?

If you say you have a 2.4 Ohm coil, and you put 4 volts to it you will end up with a certain amount of watts. If you change the "watts", you've only changed the voltage that you are putting to that coil.

So a 2.4 ohm coil at 4 volts is going to produce 6.6 watts at 1.6 amps.

Now if you use the "variable wattage" and select you want 10 watts.. you are now at 4.89 volts and 2.04 amps.

So really this "Variable Wattage" is just another term for "variable volts" if the APV can produce a steady voltage of 4 volts, you will have a steady wattage of 6.6

VW is basically set and forget. With VV you need to calculate the voltage every time for the wattage you like to vape at with the resistance (ohms) of the coil. With VW you find the wattage you like (sweet spot) and the device reads the resistance of the atomizer and then sets the voltage automatically. So whenever you change the atty, regardless of the resistance, you don't have to calculate anything and you get the same vaping experience without having to measure your attys resistance and calculate the voltage. This mod also has RMS (HC does not advertise this) which is very accurate to what voltage (VV mode) or wattage (VW) mode that you set. I currently use a ZMax and never have to fiddle with voltages any more. Every atty gives me the same performance due to the VW function.

On this mod that HC is selling the default is AVG mode which results in higher voltages and wattage than what you set. But by pressing the "+" button for 10 seconds, releasing it and holding it again for 10 seconds you can switch from 001 (AVG) to 002 (RMS). RMS is the setting most people would want to use this mod at, unless they like the "beast style" like the VMax (setting 001 on this device).

Jack how did you find this out? I cant find this on the manufactures site anywhere, they mention it but they don't actually have the 10 sec instructions. I want to make sure i know all the features about my device! :p

When you hold the + button for 10 seconds, you change the device from "num1" to "num2". It is my belief that "num1" is average mode, which is not accurate to what you set it to, and "num2" is the more accurate setting.

Going from how audio systems work RMS means Root Mean Square which is basically how much power a device is able to continuously supply where the signal is varied (not constant) my best guess is average tries to obtain maximum power where possible (in shorter bursts) but will obviously fall as it wont be able to sustain that power. RMS will be the most consistent and within the devices capabilities

I got mine today. For some reason it turns itself off quite often. I just changed it to no2 by pressing the small right button down for about 14 seconds. It doesn't seem to be turning itself off now. Mystery...

About the build quality. It's quite heavy and must be steel with chrome coating or perhaps brass. The LED is quite nice. It's very simple and easy to use. I like the buttons. Not sure if they will wear out but they seem pretty solid. I'll get another when they change the buttons to compare. At the price I'll be happy to get 6 months use out of it but it seems like it's good enough quality to last much longer than that.

Compared to my lava tube, I'd say it's much much higher quality. Lavatube is crap in my eyes. Time will tell.

Also comparing the use to my mechanical mod with a kick, it doesn't seem to drain the battery so rapidly. I'll vape this at home since it's big and heavy but I'm quite pleased so far. I will update if I continue to have problems with the turning off issue or any other.

At this point I'd recommend it to anyone to buy with the caveat that I've only used it for a few hours.

Finally, I've only used it with my GP Spheroid at about 1.6 to 1.7 ohms.

I just got mine and if I hold the right small button down for 10+ seconds nothing changes. I even tried to do it twice in succession and nothing happens.

Are you sure this is an option or perhaps I'm not understanding what to do here.

Is the right button the "+" button. Does pressing it increase or decrease the volatage/wattage setting? If it goes down that is the "-" button. Try the left side button and see if that works. Others have reported it does work and the manufacturer claims it will work. I don't have mine yet as China customs returned it to HC without it ever leaving the country, so I do not know if it is the left or right small button. They reshipped my order today.

Thanks Jack, I updated my post because I figured it out. 10 seconds was not enough for me. Maybe I counted too quickly...one one thousand two one thousand...

Anyway after about 14 seconds it worked for me. Not sure if it makes a difference or not in use but it doesn't have the issue of turning itself off as I posted above.

I live in Bangkok too as you know and my last order arrived in three days. I had no juice or batteries though.

I did not have juice or batteries in the order either. Just two of the mods and some various supplies like vivi heads, etc. Just China EMS messing it up. It sat in Guangzhou for four days and then they returned it to HC for no reason. HC said sometimes they do that and usually gets through on the second try. China EMS and China Post can be frustrating that way.
