Hi!

So this is my first post. (Looking forward to knocking 5 posts out so I can get into the "advanced threads!")

Since I'm here, I'll introduce myself: I'm from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, and really new to vaping. I've smoked since I was about 18, bought a 510 kit a few weeks ago, and I'm liking it! I still have a few cigarrettes a day; I just like smoking, I guess.

Well, I'm pretty happy with the 510 rig. I chose it based purely on what I learned reading through these forums. (I've been lurking around for a month or so, now.) Now I'm ready to get into the finer, more nuanced areas of choosing e-juice. But boy, have I got some noob questions!
Like;
How do I tell whether the juice I have on hand already is VG or PG based?
(Throat hit is improtant to me, as is flavor, so I'm trying to make sure I get all the factors right.)
I can tell you where I bought my starter kit from: ecigbestsave dot com (can't post links yet.)
(They're the only place I've purchased from so far, but I'm pretty happy with them.)
I'm looking at a new place to get juice from though, since being in Canada means things have to cross the big border, and I've been lucky so far, but why tempt fate? I'm looking at these guys:
electronic-cigz dot com

just based on the selection, and the fact that they actually put nicotine in the juice (not all Canadian purveyors do.)
Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with these folks before? They good? Are there better places to go?
And i wonder about flavors. Is the menthol at one seller going to be the same, or at least similar to another seller's product? What about when you get into more specialty flavors, like Dr Pepper? Is it even consistent when you stay with the same supplier?

Okay, I'm just rambling at this point, so that's enough for now.
(Though, if anyone wants to take a swing at any of those questions, I'd be much obliged!)

Cheers!

Lol, I've been browsing some of these forums to the point I feel like I've had actual conversations with some of these cats!

I've really on scratched the surface in some areas, though - there is a giant amount of information around here, and I'm trying to get through as much as I can before I start asking questions that have been addressed a thousand times over...
But the eyeballs begin to swim after the first dozen pages...

I tried a Dr. Pepper flavor...didn't taste anything like dr. pepper to me...i took about two hits, and cleaned my atomizer and cart, nasty stuff, although that was from a local distributor electronic cigarettes of houston or some such...i really liked their cotton candy, though! RY4 is my favorite right now, it's hard to describe how it tastes...but i like it. I also enjoyed some Vanilla VG based liquid from Cignot.com as well as the "Forbidden" flavor they sell as well which is really sweet and fruity.

I got the Dr Pepper liquid from that ecigbestsave place I mentioned - they're a Michigan-based seller.
And no, it didn't taste exactly like the soft drink, but it got a pretty good handle on it. Better than the brandy flavor, anyhow.
I imagine it has alot to do with the fact that there can be as many variances in flavor as there are in manufacturers of flavor additives - just depends on what that juice-mixer is making their product with.
Lol, makes a strong case for doing it myself, so that when I get the right recipie, I'm all set!

Welcome Penedono,

If the labels don't say anything, the juice is most likely PG based. Some will tell the components but most don't.

Now...flavors and e-juice will get you on a roller coaster if you are like most of us. We want to try every single new juice or supplier...

Oh...and let me ask you this: Are you Portuguese descendant? If not...i love your nick anyways

Welcome Penedono!

Is VG primarily more "smokey" than PG? Not sure if vegetable is better than the other, but curious about the difference.

VG produces more vapor then PG. One is not "better" then the other but it seems that VG has less possibilities in causing allergic reactions to people.

Thank you Col. Gaunt. Didn't even realize people could be allergic. Makes sense, just didn't dawn on me.

Yes, we have had many people on the forum who have had allergic reactions to PG and wanted to know what to do about it.

Keep on reading and asking questions, their are tons of things to find out!:D

I have tried both PG and VG, It different in taste, thick of vapor. When you use pg, you will feel thirsty. I think VG is smoother than PG as well

VG has a slightly sweeter taste then PG and also provides thicker vapor. However it is important to keep drinking materials at had when you are vaping.

No Portuguese ancestry; Alas, I chose the name for a far sillier reason: It's in the title of a song by the Lowest of the Low ("Penedono's Hand")
(Here again, I'd link you to lyrics, but... oh, everyone here knows how to use google, anyhow!)

And thanks portguy, svzurich, Col. Gaunt, and lowangel: It certainly sounds like where I have the option, VG-based juice is the way to go for me. One question down, now back into the knowledge base to find out which million things I haven't even considered yet!

So, as happy as I presently am with the 510 I have (and hooray! I'm spending the evening shopping for parts and juice online!) I've got a freind who wants to switch it over to vaping now, but doesn't like the 510. Finds it far too harsh (granted, she tried it while it was filled with 24mg menthol.)

Anyway, now I'm trrying to figure out which ecig rig to reccommend - seems from everything I've read so far most cats say that the 510 is a great place for beginners, but it seems like that won't do this time.

Could anyone help me out? Looking for a small, easy-on-the-throat, easy to use PV.

Much gratitude in advance!

Welcome, Penedono. Like you I have a 510 & am fairly new to vaping. I have not tried many flavors, mainly the tobacco ones, Marlboro & the Turkish. For the first time today I tried the RY4 & was surprised that the only thing I could taste was a tobacco flavor but I understand that after years of smoking it may take some time for taste buds to adjust. My first e-cig was from Smoking Everywhere & was from first to last a bad experience so I hope your friend has better luck getting started. I am pleased with the 510 but am also looking for mods to be a backup in case of a ban here in the U.S.
WELCOME & GOOD LUCK.

Oh man, I really hope these things don't get banned in the U.S. - Canada will undoubtedly follow the southern lead.

jkillb - I'm lower than a novice where flavors are concerned, so all tips help. Part of what sets me behind the curve is that Canada and the U.S. have such differring brands. For instance, I have no idea what the RY4 is meant to approximate. And then I have to assume that any ejuice flavors immitating brands I recognize are trying to imitate the U.S. flavors. An example here is that I've smoked Marlboro reds made from American tabacco, and Marlboro reds made from Turkish tobacco (while travelling in Europe,) and even though it was the same brand, they were 2 different tastes...
For the last several years I've been smoking Craven Menthol, and Number 7 Menthol, (both are the white-filter [fibreglass] tubes,) and I'm finding that the Dekang menthol 24mg is an easy transition.

svzurich - I'm off to read up on the KR808D-1. Are you finding it's a light touch on the throat hit?
