Let’s round out the list of NJ Senators and help them see that taxing #Ecigs is misguided.

You know, calls to action are good things and necessary to make people aware, but it occurred to me that there is more that can be done. Reacting to something bad is really a bad place to be, it is much better to be in front of it from both a political and a public relations standpoint. Allow me to explain.

In politics, it is a basic rule that if it is said or it appears in the media, it is true. Even if it is false. Because 90% of people will not question it, especially if they don't have knowledge, or if the allegation sounds plausible. Consider *spit* the person accused of child abuse. Even if they are proven innocent, that accusation follows them for the rest of their lives, fair or not. So it is with anything, including vaping and e-cigarettes. We find ourselves often defending baseless garbage, which is damn near impossible to do effectively.

What can you do? Call your elected officials. Write a real letter that requires a stamp to mail. Pin them down, ask them to tell you what their views about vaping are. Do this even if there is no bad legislation pending. Tell them about yourself, and your success, and that of others you know. Offer to send them educational material. Remind them that you vote, and that you are paying attention and are active with this issue! Write letters to the editor of your local newspaper saying the same things, call radio shows. We have to be first getting the message out! Talk to your doctors, talk to everyone you know. Educate them, show them.

I know a lot of this sounds trite, but playing catch up is killing our cause; and it is a cause. By the time lawmakers are talking about bans ans sponsoring legislation, the train has left the station.
