It looks like the rba coil needs to be greater than 1.2 ohms. I'm guessing the egrip won't fire under 1.2 ohms. Kyi, you could use a coil calculator to get an idea of resistance of a planned coil build. Does anyone know what gauge wire is used in the coils that come with the rba? Is it nichrome or kanthal?

For those of you not using the pre built coils, are you just estimating your build or using something to figure out your resistance? I'm wondering if I should still hold out for the adapter or just get the rba base now. Trying not to pay for shipping twice.

10/11 wraps of 28awg around the blue screwdriver that comes in the kit works fine, I didn't meter it because I knew it would be above 1.2 its probably 1.5-1.6. It works well and you can take the wattage up all the way if you wish but it vapes well from the third notch onwards. Its much better flavor than the coil that comes with it.

Getting super excited... It's cold but I have the windows and doors wide open... waiting on my mail carrier... my replacement is due to make it's arrival in just a few hours... Got my rba ready... Flavor picked out... all the disappointment of getting it as my birthday gift and it didn't work, to paying to overnight the replacement and getting the same faulty mod back again and then having to wait another few days til it could get straightened out has been SO FRUSTRATING... now, I AM READY!!! fingers crossed the replacement is a solid unit! Hoping for no problems cuz this lady is ready to experience the pop, crack, sizzle and clouds you all speak of... lol c'mon vapemail!!!

Does anyone have issue with turning off the egrip? I have to click it like 8-10 times to get it to finally shut off.

Also, I was having issue with mine not firing and found out the issue was using too much cotton, i guess it wasn’t wicking enough cause it was too tight and the egrip wasn’t firing just blinking. Hope that helps some people. I’m still tinkering with the cotton trying to get it right myself, I get a lot of gurgling so i’m trying to find a good balance of cotton to prevent that and also not cause the egrip to not fire.

with that being said, would it be possible for people to post pictures of how they set up their cotton?

Are you referring to the cotton in the RBA base?
If so, have you already used the 2 additional ones that came packaged with it?

Sitting at the door and no RBA yet :(
Can't wait for this thing much longer, already cleaned the stock coils 2-3 times since I got the eGrip, and now the taste is  not good at all. No sellers close by to grab a replacement coil from so I need to man up for now I guess.
Shows shipped, but no delivery date (China Air mail) and I would have went to a seller in the US.... but no one was showing it yet and I was trying to beat the rush....that one bit me in the .... I guess. Live and learn.

Anywho, glad to read that most everyone likes it, and I guess it will be worth the wait :vapor:

I gotta admit it, this RBA is amazing.

I really can't see myself using any other devices for quite some time.

What is the big difference though?
Does it just feed better?
I'm not interested in an airier draw, but the thing really is hit and miss.

BTW, Love your avatar cracker!

Got mine, FINALLY :) it is firing and working really well. I started with stock coil and eh, it was just ok. Definetly feel like my beyond vape silo lite and aspire bvc coils vape a lot better. Took that out, primed the rba (using the coil and cotton it came set up with) and after 2 pulls the flavor and vapor was a HUGE improvement. Omg... SNAP, CRACKLE AND POP!!! So, until about 2 months ago I was happy with my carto tanks, mvp, svd (once in a while) then I discovered nautilus & bvc... quickly got an istick and my silo lite tanks with aspire bvc and LOVE this set up. I have a handful of rebuildables but never took to dripping or building at all. So this lil rba is rocking my world. I am pretty sure it is giving me a nicotine buzz, I've only experienced that way back in early smoking days, lol... I vape mostly 18mg, does a set up like this deliver more nicotine than I might be used to? I cannot chain vape with this thing yet, lol... it's too much! I'm still nervous and have not cranked up the wattage. I wonder if I should try a lower nic level? Maybe this will help me finally level down, I've wanted to for a while. Maybe I'll try it :) so far, with the rba this mod ROCKS. Oh yea, I want to try the aspire bvc in this bad boy too... ooooo, I am so happy to finally have a functional egrip. And oddly, in the year and a half I've been vaping this is the first joyetech addition to be added to my collection...

Hmmmm.....

The airflow, is a bit "open", but not really enough to bother me, the wicking is fantastic, no burnt/dry hits whatsoever (my biggest problem with the stock heads), and the vape is like a kick in the teeth. Almost too much for me, but I can dilute my nic content if need be, and might try building a higher ohm coil. I've never rebuilt anything, but I do have a multimeter, so it shouldn't be too hard.

Out of the box, all I had to do was unscrew the cap on top of the factory coil, saturate it, set it down for about 3 minutes, and it's been vaping like a champ ever since.

Gotta say, that after modding five of the stock heads to better mimic a carto, this thing, which is nothing like a carto, is far superior.

And I haven't really played with the power settings yet, because it hits so hard at 8 watts. I assume that when the coil starts to crud-up, I'll kick it up a notch or two.

Glad you guys are diggin it as much as I am. Have had this RBA base running for a week now. It's quieter after the first 24 hours and after a week the flavor is about the same for me, maybe a bit better. Still a very airy draw, great job staying wet, haven't had a dry hit yet.

I'm still hanging at the lowest "8 watts", but the other night had a need for more heat and cranked it up to about 10-12. That's what some good home brew LemonChello will do to you... Good times! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1419381098.185541.jpg

You'll find with some devices you may have to lower your nic level cause it hits too hard.
With the Istick/Lemo Drop my vape is lovely. With the eGrip/RBA the same juice makes me nic sick.

Just had to call joyetech usa with the plug and not charging right problem, she eas very nice and acknowledged the first run had problems,. I am sending it back and she assured me i would get a solid new run one. I just got the killer rba about a week ago, now i have to give it up for awhile. Oh, well I don't get in a hurry anymore, except for vapemail.

Cracker: will you share how you modified the stock heads to mimic a carto? descriptions would be cool but pics are always better... you may have already shared and if so, I'll go look in this thread...
Scanda: thanks for info on nic level... :)

It's a few pages back in this thread. And I don't have a good functioning camera ATM, but I think the most consistent mod, was stripping the poly fill out of a new carto, and using it to replace fabric/filler on the inside of the coil head housing.

So here's a Q: what could possibly explain the efficiency with which this RBA delivers nicotine? /i am definitely vaping less, and have plenty of zero nic liquid laying aroiund if I need to dilute, but man, its bonkers.

Well, I just ordered my RBA base from Litecig. I still want the 510 adapter, but I guess I can do without it for now. I will be making my own coils instead of getting premade ones. I haven't rebuilt anything in a while now, even though I have several KFLs sitting around but I guess I just tend to be pretty lazy with that stuff. But I will just use the eGrip or BVC coils when I am feeling lazy and rebuild the other times.

10 wraps of 30 gauge wire should get it fairly close to the 2 ohm range right? I'm not really sure how big of a difference it makes to not be able to heat up and squeeze the coils together for a tighter microcoil.. maybe someone else can weigh in on that. I do remember some people saying that a little bit of space between the coils wicks better than a really tight micro coil but I always made my coils by squeezing them together after heating it up. I saw the adapter available on some German site but I'm just gonna wait till I can buy from a US vendor.

The eGrip also hits very hard for me even on the lowest wattage setting, so I am thinking of upping the VG percentage in my future juice orders. Love this device though, used it all during my trip. It did not appear to leak on the way going out but coming home, I did find some juice kinda coming out of where the juice fill port is. Not sure if that had to do with the plane pressure or if it was something else but I did not vape it on the plane so I dunno.. not a big deal though. I had it inside a ziplock bag so it didn't get all over the inside of my purse.
