Your leaking could have been caused by short wicking or maybe a loose chimney, or even a bad or missing seal somewhere. tanks only work right when perfectly sealed and wicked properly.

Sorry for the long dissertation, but it's "need to know info" if you're gonna crack the code on RTAs like the Egrip.
I can understand. So do i re wick it with more wick so it touches the bottom?

I realize that I am REALLY in the minority here, but I don't want to rebuild, so the RBA really isn't an option for me (still too much hassle even with premade coils, I'm just not a fiddler). That said, I love this thing. I liked it much better with the BVC coil in it than the stock joytech coil that came with it, but I love it with the GS Air coils from eleaf. I can take this sucker up in wattage, and I still am able to have a flat surface on tables.

Sorry if I missed it. Does the GS Air coils just fit in the place of the standard eGrip coils - without any modifications?

You're not alone. I don't want to fiddle with it either. I only do that if I have to build my own or can make something better. That said, the RBA is worlds better than the original head. Still airy, but not a bad hit yet and up to "dot 4". I haven't done anything to the factory installed one. I am thinking about buying another RBA just to have one ready, to avoid the fiddle factor. ;)

Yup! Fits perfect, no pin change and infinitely less expensive than the joy tech heads too.

I'm afraid that I won't be able to see the tiny screws to switch out the coil on the rba. IMHO to 3rd or 4th dot with the gs air too. Couldn't get past the minimum with the original coil.

I'm sure the rba is wonderful & better, it just scares me.

It came with 3 pre-built wicked coils, so I'm pretty happy with it.

Yes. Cut your wick tails long enough to reach the bottom plus a little, maybe 1/16" (1.5mm). The extra length will ensure that the tails are long enough to reach the bottom without tugging on the coil.

Would people say that the wick that comes with rba the correct length? Because that gurgles for me

Not mine. The factory installed one was way too short. Dry hits AND gurgling. The two replacement coil/wick combos have longer wicks in my kit. Haven't used them yet. I just keep dryburning/rewicking the coil I made for it.

The screws are tiny. I bought a jeweler's viser from amazon for for $8 to help my tired old eyes. Works great and has three levels of magnification.

I was apprehensive about rewicking, much less rebuilding when I started. Now I find in it a sense of accomplishment.

I have trained close to a hundred people how to wind, install and wick coils for Protanks, RDAs and RTAs. Many of those were in the 50-60 year old range and many were women. It's just a matter if having the interest and the right tools. And magnification!! lol

The coils Joyetech CS and Eleaf GS air look the same to me. Isn't Eleaf even a trademark of Joyetech?

They are the same parent/subsidiary of one another. The coils might be the same & it's all in my head (I don't know). I do know that they are sold as two distinct coils for 2 different products, that one is a third less expensive & that they seem to work differently.

I tried the GS coils and it was really better than CS as taste was good and you can easily go in highest wattages.
BUT with using them i had problems (gurgle/leak), they really look identic but must be a little bit different...
Someone from our forum got a good advice from a vendor to use CS coils.
Remove one of the 2 pieces of the filling material, with just one piece i have no burn taste and it is really better for the moment.

To easily remove the top of the CS you have to let it attached on the base.
Sorry if it is not really understable, difficult for me to try to explain in english.

Got one of these yesterday and liking it so far.... Great news was the shop had just received a new shipment the day before so it be the newest version. Ran through several tanks and also learned how to clean the tank - this thing is an awesome tiny device!

Still need to get the RDA 510 adapter so I can do dry burns but since it came with a couple of pre-made coils I am set until it arrives.

My tank cleaning consisted of a syringe with hot water and flush it though and out the chimney. How is everyone cleaning the tank to get ready for a new flavor?

I think the original coil heads are kinda crappy. I dunno.. I got much better flavor and wicking out of the BVC coils. I'm interested in trying the GS coils though. In your opinion, the GS coils perform better than the BVC ones? They are slightly more expensive than the BVC ones so unless they perform a lot better I probably wouldn't switch.

I'm using the RBA base and after 14w I get dry/burnt hits.
Here's my wicking setup.

Anyone else has the same problem?
Too much/too little cotton?

Thank you in advance for your help.

14w without dryhits is pretty good for this tiny atty, especially considering the juice delivery mechanism of the rba (juice feed holes) and limited airflow. I chain vape mine at 14w but can max it out at 20w if I give it 5 seconds to resoak between pulls or draw slightly harder than normal. It requires near perfect coil symmetry and spot on wicking to get there though.

Wick tails must reach the bottom of the well to have access to all available juice during a pull at 20w or it will quickly run dry. Cotton must be kept fluffy for speedy juice transport to the coil. Cotton tails must cover all four juice holes to stave off flooding as atty temp rises. Cotton deflection(compression) within the coil must be consistant throughout.

Even with ideal coil geometry and perfect wicking max chaining wattage for this rba is limited to about 14w imo. There's just not enough airflow through the device to support higher chain vaping wattages and attempts to get there have resulted in escalated atty temps and flooding. Ymmv

What's your coil build spec?
