I think most people think of coupon codes as limited-time sales. There are a couple sites that have permanent coupon codes and have them listed on every page of their site--it always makes me wonder why they don't just reduce their prices and get rid of the coupon code :shrug:

It would be easier as a customer to enter a coupon code above or under the shipping estimate, instead of having to hunt for it on the right hand side. If you have an impulse buyer, that buyer may not be looking around too much and will only order, pay, print if the coupon code entry isn't right there with the total information.

Having it on the right hand side is like having to look in your purse for your clipped coupons at the grocery line...no one likes to wait in line for that, just mho.
