New member, 510 owner, looking for better battery life. Opinions?

So I've had my 510 for a month or so. I do like it, but the battery life really sucks. I do have a PCC, but it's really chincy and poorly made. Doesn't seem to hold up very well.

I've read some reviews on some "mods" and ran across the Silver Bullet. I hear with the 18650 battery, 2-3 days of vaping isn't uncommon. I'm frequently away from a wall outlet and that kind of battery life would be great! Also, the option for high voltage vaping would be great as well.

My only reservation regarding the Silver Bullet is its size. I *think* the original Protege would take an 18650, but I don't believe the V2 does. Could someone recommend any other options for devices using this, or a similar battery? Thanks in advance!

One 'upgrade' for 3.7v sequence:

Mega batts - 280mAh 3-4 hours
Tornado/eGo - 651mAh 6-7 hours
14500 900mAh 8-10 hours
18650 x000 mAh days.
(there are others in there 10440 (weak, imo), 16340 ~)
My view is that the 14500/Joye 510 is a sweetspot for the 510 atty. And as long as you have to go to sleep, having a batt that lasts days isn't a big plus and it would include a bigger sized mod but some people like it. The 14500 comes fairly slim in the Protege and is quite nice in the Bartleby (the production of which is on hold for at least a few weeks). There are other choices.

The Tornado/eGo is a pretty good intermediate step. I use mine a lot despite having the Bart and the Protege. Still in the 'cig/small cigar' looking device and the vapor is very good. And two batts will get me through a day or night out.

5 and 6 volts pretty much gets you off the 510 regular atty and you're trading off ohms for volts with not that much more in performance, imho and loosing some flavor.

Let me make your decision a little harder:

There are a lot of good options for mods. Even the ones with smallish batteries will give you much longer vaping time than the stock batteries will. And carrying one extra set of those, just in case, is no worse than carrying a bottle of juice (and you don't need to carry a PCC or a charger or any of that stuff.)

I'm waiting for my Little Chuck -- any day now.

Do take into account, though, that on a mod, a Joye 510 will run on 3.7v. On Joye batteries (that includes eGos) they run on 3.1v. That makes for quite a difference in taste. Some prefer them on 3.7, others don't like it at all. So before you spend a lot of money on a mod, you might wish to try a Joye 510 atty on a relatively cheap KR8 battery+adapter, or a similar setup. (That KR8 battery fits a 901 atty perfectly, which can be a nice change once in a while.)

Hello everyone, thanks for the input!

Kent: Thanks for the info regarding battery life. Never seen a comparison like that. I'd imagine it's pretty consistent as well, since most "mods" are battery replacements, and use a standard atomizer / cart.

Poiea: I had no idea there were so many options, I haven't heard of most on that list!

AlexTM: Thanks for the warning. I'm sure I won't have a problem with 3.7v or even 5v vaping. I tried a co-workers silver bullet at 3.7 and enjoyed the experience. I forgot to mention that I also have a USB passthrough for my 510, and I definitely enjoy vaping at 5v as well.

I find the ability to vape at higher voltage just as alluring as the increased battery life, regarding most "mods". What appealed to me about the silver bullet is the flexibility to have a super long lasting 3.7v experience, or a higher voltage experience (which most "mods" do anyways). Hell, I'd be interested in trying 6v or higher - that'd be a welcomed option.

The endurance of a 2400 mAh battery is unbelievably alluring to me, due to my schedule (or lack thereof) and inaccessibility of a charger while working. I'd probably carry a charged spare on me at all times, regardless of what i chose to go with. I always had atleast an extra pack of cigs with me just incase - i always try to be prepared.

Again, as previously stated, aside from the size, the SB looks perfect to me. I'll keep looking and maybe start considering mods that use other batteries. Something like an eGo looks like a great option, but I think if I'm gonna pay the money, I'll pay a little extra and get something longer lasting and more versatile (as in voltage). In hindsight, an eGo would have been a much better starting device than my standard 510.

If anyone else has any more input, or even suggestions, it'd be greatly appreciated. I'm itching to make a purchase, but have been holding off because I want to make sure I make the right one. I'm fully prepared to spend a little more for more versatility in the long run.

Can I add that a 510 on both 5v and 3.7 is awesomeness :) My nicquids taste better on both - I still love my manual batts (I have a bunch so while swapping out is a pain its easy enough as theres always one ready to go) and still love nicquid on it but the coffees and non fruits on the 5v are divine (fruits like the 3.7v, the 5v is too much for them lol). I can't see how you can go far wrong really if you get either 5v, 3.7, or both.

Any mod that takes the 18650 is going to be rather large, but @ 2600mah it will last quite a while on a charge. The V2 won't take it but the V1 will, but you need a switch that doesn't have a resistor in it or it will be too low voltage with the 18650. That and a V1 isn't easy to find anymore, the silver bullet would be a good option.

For only $50, the Bartleby is probably the best starter mod. It uses a 14500 battery, which is good for a full day for all but the heaviest vapers. And the built-in USB charging and passthrough mode are ridiculously convenient. A lot of people who have multiple $100+ mods still use a bart as their go-to PV.

That's right on with me - Protege and Chameleon (both $100+) - both nice mods but I reach form my Bartlebys first. And because of the internal charger it's what's in my car too - I put a tornado in my pocket.....
