Hello all
I've been a regular vaper now for about 4 months. Absolutely love it. Can't even stand the smell or taste of cigarettes anymore. I'm definitely hooked on vaping!
Started out on an off-brand 1000 battery with a Smok BBC tank. Soon upgraded to a Protank II which I still use. The off-brand called it quits so I invested in a Vision Spinner. I still use the Protank/Spinner combo at work. A couple of weeks ago I decided to buy my first Mod, a smoktek SID which I love. Today I made the next step and bought an IGO-W. After failing miserably to build a successful dual-coil above 1.2 ohms, I've built a good 1.5 ohm single coil that vapes great! I also did the usual hole drill on the IGO. I'm happy with the setup, it runs good at 3.7 volts. Definitely not stopping here though. I plan on getting a mech mod soon so I can start some sub-ohm vaping awesomeness!
I did some searching on the forum for some tips on building a dual coil on a regulated mod and came to the conclusion that its really not easy to do with the 28 gauge wire I'm using. I'll just rock the single coil until I get a mech unless anyone knows a good way to build a dual for the SID with 28 guage! I would appreciate any input if anyone has any!

Thanks for the compliments guys! Its been a few weeks since I posted last. I ended up getting a Kamry K101 and another IGO W so I can have two builds and figure out what I like better. I'm running a 30 amp Sony battery and currently have a .444 ohm dual-micro coil setup that chucks the vapor great! Looking to start getting some lessons on more advanced builds from a Veteran vaper soon.

Nice work!
Not sure if it is just camera angle, but legs seems to be too close to the post. Also, negative side is too close to the edge. Make the coil little tighter and give yourself enough room between the coil and the cap.

If you get a chance, do a Youtube search for "super nano coil" ...

It's what I settled on after experimenting with several different builds. 14 wraps of 30 Ga wrapped on a piece of 28 Ga, dual coil, has 0.5 ohms of resistance. I noticed if you keep the cotton cloud clear of the ends of the coils, you get a lot more vapor production, plus it's fun to take the cap off and watch vapor shoot in 6 different directions.

Is the cotton under the coil? is there any wick inside of the coils at all on this build?

The picture is just to small for me to see exactly what is going on in the picture you attached.

Wouldnt that cause a lot of strain on the top of the coils where juice isn't touching?

I'm not sure. From examining the coils I have dismantled and stretched out, the wear on the wire was uniform. The coil has such a small diameter I think the entire coil is wet. I have noticed that when I use a less dense cotton cloud, I get dry tasting hits even when I've just added juice. With a dense cotton cloud, it's great.

Almost every post I see about rba I say this. Go check out riptripper on YouTube. His videos will teach you everything you need to know. Since you have a mech now, definitely build a dual coil and ditch the silica. Use organic cotton balls. Just boil them for about 10 min, let them air dry over night and you can unroll them to make them flat. Then just tear a piece and roll to make a wick. Also start working on micro coil builds( riptripper can teach you) you will be so pleased with your new purchases once you do!
