Hi Otto, My brother's name is Otto! Welcome to the ECF, I'm also new to e-cigs and this board. My best to you in your journey to a smoke free life, I'm on mine now also! Some of the smoke shops in the KC area have juice, the one is Lee's Summit is switching brands of e-cigs, when I went there yesterday they didn't have any e-cigs, kits or disposables but did have juice. This seems like a good place to post my first note. I was raised in the KC area and really do miss it. I would appreciate hearing your experiences with e-cigs because I am determined to make the switch. I'm currently smoking over 2 packs a day and even though I smoke Carlton menthol, which has one of the lowest nicotine ratings, that still adds up to a lot of nicotine on a daily basis. So, I look forward to your replies!

Hi Bazaz,
I haven't really looked locally for full-line suppliers. The Red X in Riverside sells what looks like an overpriced KR808 kit, as well as replacement cartomizers. One of my customers is an experienced vaper. He tells me that many of the local smoke shops carry disposables and overpriced kits, with one on Armour Rd in NKC selling juice at a decent price.

Like buying anything else, I would love to do business with a local vendor and keep some of the $$ in the community, but it seems silly to pay way too much for the hardware, then pay 8-9% sales tax on top of it.

I guess the vaping thing just hasn't achieved enough mass locally yet. In fact, I have only met 2 other people here who have even tried it!

Maybe I need to open a storefront....

Hi Kanza,
I am just over one week into this process, so take this with a grain of salt. I have tried several times over the last 10-15 years to quit. First with the gum, then the patch. No success. The nic replacements only took care of half the problem.

With the e-cig, I am feeding both my nicotine addiction, and my hand-to-mouth & puffing habit. The day after I got my starter kit, I handed my remaining analogs to my wife. I simply did not need them anymore. In fact, she can puff away on her analog in the same room, and it does not seem to affect me as it did when I was using nic replacement alone.

The real test was a visit to the casino the other night. This was a brutal environment for me in earlier quit attempts, but there I was, playing video poker and drinking beers without issue. I was puffing like a madman most of the time though, so I will be packing a loaded PCC on my next visit.

Good luck!

Otto

Casinos in KC! That's new since my day but they seem to be everywhere and now Chicago is wrestling with the specter. I do agree that it is the "action" of smoking that seems to have me most hooked. I even twirl the danged things between my fingers while I'm thinking. Boredom has been one obstacle on my road to quitting but, to be honest, I think I created a whole lot of excuses! A week is awesome, a month will be incredible, a year will be time for the big celebrations!! Keep up your efforts and maybe in a few days I can report the same results!
